Will be cruiseing on the Millenium in Feb/08 and have a few questions!

What is the best hotel to stay at the night before embarkation?

How much is a taxi from the airport to the Port?

What would be the earliest that we should book a flight out of Ft Lauderdale on Sunday the day we disembrak?

What is the procedure for Canadians to disembark the Millenium?

Can't answer all your questions but any hotel is only about 10 minutes from the port.

If you are there overnight go to LAS OLAS BLVD. Shops and restaurants. a walk to the beach.( a mile or so).

BEST BREAKFAST - Cafe La Bonne Crepe.

For lunch and dinner there are various venues including sushi, seafood, and italian. For those with a comfort zone there is the Spaghetti factory.

Here's a recent thread with a discussion on FLL hotels that you may find useful:

Personally I wouldn't fly out before midday. The port isn't far from the airport, but with possible delays to the ship arriving and other eventualities like immigration, I would say less stress if you go for an afternoon flight. If you book the flight for later in the afternoon, you might like to think about doing an excursion like the air boat ride, if you haven't done it before (domestic flights after 2.30 and international after 3.30). It was good fun and the bus looked after your cases and dropped you back at the airport at the end. Just something to think about.

we usually dont fly out before noon, usually around 1:30 and it is usually with Air Canada. the only pain with a later flight is that they wont check you in until noon and the airport is small and crowded and not alot of seats. we have always done it that way and it saves the stress if you are late disembarking.

as far as canadians leaving the ship last time we went through customs in st thomas, we went down to the theatre and basically showed our passports very quick.

it was simple

Actually thanks for correcting me. I was just talking to someone from Atlanta and had the Spaghetti factory in my head.

You are correct, it is the Cheesecake Factory. Sorry OP, my mistake.

Thanks Lois!

Cruised out of Ft Lauderdale twice. BOth times we stayed at the Embassy Suites which is only about 5 miles from the airport and the dock. I can't recall the cabfare. The hotel had a shuttle to the port (free but you need to resoreve a spot. Across the street is a nice pub/restuarant and a liquor store is within walking distance as well as some other stores to get supplies for your trip.

We just sailed out of Miami, but spent a night in FLL before our cruise. We stayed in Ocean Manor .. for the price of city view room we were able to get ocean view.. Bathroom wasn't renovated, but what a view we had...

Panoramic window and balconey and big window on the other wall. It was incredible. :)

In 2004 we stayed in Embassy Suites .. it wasn't on the beach but nice hotel with all suites, manager reception and breakfast included. They have free shuttles to/from port and airport. Bidded on it on priceline and got $55 price. :)

Pictures of and from Ocean Manor.
