Herring for breakfast?

I believe HAL used to have herring at breakfast buffet, but don't recall seeing it lately, although I've not been on HAL in almost a year. But, I do know I've seen it on the breakfast menu in the dining room on some mornings.

Ahoy!

Kippered herring is always available on the breakfast menu in the DR and can be ordered on the room service card for A.M. delivery. Also available in the Lido for breakfast every 2-3 days, alternating with smoked salmon and pickled herring. Usually a cold seafood salad or two available for lunch in the Lido. And, of course, in the main DR there always seems to be a seafood appetizer and at the very least one (but usually two) main course seafood selections (and you can ask the server if, perhaps, he could make a slab of Halibut 'happen' even if it's not on the menu).

Have yourselves a GREAT CRUISE!

Bon Voyage and Good Health!

Bob:)

Thank you all for your replies about the herring. DH will be pleased, since our last cruises (not on HAL) did not offer herring at all.

And I love herring, BUT NOT FOR BREAKFAST.

Thanks

Ina

I've seen pickled herring and herring in sour cream w/ onions.

Great - I was starting to get worried by other posts. When I was younger, a lot younger, and stationed outside Paris, our favorite Parisian Sunday breakfast, or perhaps it was closer to lunch, was pickeled herring, a good dry white wine, and lots of very fresh French bread! Believe me, that will wake you up.

Best selection of herring and other cold fish I have seen on ships was on Vistafjord and more recently on Norwegian Coastal Voyage Trollfjord earlier this year!

He has got to have a better constitution than I have....

Jim if you want to try something really special try some smoked sturgeon, very good. Unfortunately its a bit pricey, but worth trying, very subtle and almost buttery
