What do ya'll think?
Elizanessie Posted March 21, 2008 #2 Share Posted March 21, 2008 I like Oasis of the Seas..infact I posted that name way back in Dec on a thread I started here on CC.:D But being from UK I couldnt enter the contest.:(

thomastte Posted March 21, 2008 #5 Share Posted March 21, 2008 The guy who submitted those names has never cruised before, so I doubt that he's a cc'er.
DEIx15x8 Posted March 21, 2008 #6 Share Posted March 21, 2008 That sucks, I posted Allure of the Seas along with Profusion of the Seas back on the second day of the contest. At least they picked names that seem to work and sound good this time.
toonjie Posted March 21, 2008 Author #7 Share Posted March 21, 2008 The guy who submitted those names has never cruised before, so I doubt that he's a cc'er. Yeah, I just read that, so he's probably not. Looks like they are backtracking and counting both of the names as well. Last week's winner had Mosaic and Coronation and they say that Coronation is also in contention. At least that is better than Mosaic in my opinion. wolfcathorse Posted March 21, 2008 #9 Share Posted March 21, 2008 I like Allure of the Seas! But I still don't like the ship (too big)!
alphakitty Posted March 21, 2008 #10 Share Posted March 21, 2008 I picked Oasis and Utopia....guess that means I'm out of the running now. :( They did admit to making a mistake last week. http://www.usatoday.com/travel/cruises/item.aspx?type=blog&ak=47339622.blog
DEIx15x8 Posted March 21, 2008 #11 Share Posted March 21, 2008 So what do people think of Coronation of the Seas? Based on the definition it doesn't seem much better than mosaic but it does sound allot better.
green eyed lady Posted March 21, 2008 #12 Share Posted March 21, 2008 Sorry but coronation makes me think of coronary or cornoner...not very happy thoughts!
klfhngr Posted March 21, 2008 #13 Share Posted March 21, 2008 I guess 'Chicken of the Seas' is not a finalist?!
angbaby Posted March 21, 2008 #14 Share Posted March 21, 2008 I am very pleased with Oasis and Allure, Oasis more than Allure though! I think that Oasis captures the spirit of cruising and these ships. I could sooo see myself sailing on Oasis, makes me anxious about my May cruise just thinking about it. Eternity and Infinity were my names, maybe there is still a chance!
Silvery Seas Cruiser Posted March 21, 2008 #15 Share Posted March 21, 2008 Must the names be chosen in pairs? What I mean is what if the RCI Powers That Be prefer one name out of a pair and the other name out of another person's pair? I do like Oasis of the Seas. mxylpic Posted March 21, 2008 #16 Share Posted March 21, 2008 Must the names be chosen in pairs? What I mean is what if the RCI Powers That Be prefer one name out of a pair and the other name out of another person's pair? I do like Oasis of the Seas. They can do pretty much what they want. Actually, they don't even have to use the "winning" names, if you read all the rules. I don't remember where I read that, but it was in there someplace. So they may already have two names in mind. But I also like Allure and Oasis for names, much better than the previous two.
FL_Cruiser64 Posted March 21, 2008 #17 Share Posted March 21, 2008 I guess 'Chicken of the Seas' is not a finalist?! I know you said that in a joke but I would reckon that even if this name was submitted and the judges would love it (who knows after they liked Mosaic of the Seas) it would be a copyright or trademark violation. :D:p;)
FL_Cruiser64 Posted March 21, 2008 #18 Share Posted March 21, 2008 Much better names and they actually go together. Not my favorites but I could easily live with those names.
yogimax Posted March 21, 2008 #19 Share Posted March 21, 2008 I guess 'Chicken of the Seas' is not a finalist?! Don't give up! We still have four weeks to go. I think they are saving the best for week six... "Chicken of the Seas" "Mustard of the Seas"

pmfan Posted March 21, 2008 #21 Share Posted March 21, 2008 I like Oasis of the Seas better than I do last weeks name that was picked.
DrSeuss Posted March 21, 2008 #22 Share Posted March 21, 2008 I think if the names need to suit the group of ships eg Freedom, Liberty, etc then the suggestion of Coronation belongs with Majesty, Sovereign of the Seas as it is a regal name? Just MHO.
booze brothers Posted March 21, 2008 #23 Share Posted March 21, 2008 Heartbeat of the seasLife of the saes What do you think? Do i even have a chance:rolleyes: Actually, NO but you gave it a good try!! LOL
jebl Posted March 21, 2008 #24 Share Posted March 21, 2008 How about 'Glutton of the Seas' or 'Hog of the Seas' ( in honor of the chair hogs) or 'Push of the Seas' ( in honor of the pushers at the elevators). I am really only being faceitous. I did enter what I thought were good names, but I forgot them. That's what getting older does to you!! Even though I entered the contest, I doubt that I will ever sail on either the Freedom class or the Genisis class. Just too big for me. I actually like ships with under 2000 pax. Makes for a more intimate cruise experience. But, variety is the spice of life and everyone has different preferences. Guess that's why the make chocolate and vanilla!!! Rare hcat Posted March 21, 2008 #25 Share Posted March 21, 2008 Too many S sounds with the Oasis of the seas--imagine if someone has a lisp or speech problem-- just not a smooth sounding name! And an oasis to me conjures relief from a desert--not at sea! So far none of the names are treally stellar... Not having any better ideas myself--I await the winners!
