jhannah Posted June 9, 2008 #2 Share Posted June 9, 2008 My experience has been in late summer. But I've read here where many people found the water to be a bit too chilly for swimming at that time of year. If you like cold water, though, you may be right at home! jtl513 Posted June 9, 2008 #3 Share Posted June 9, 2008 I only walked/waded in the water myself, and didn't think it a bit cold. There were quite a few people swimming mid-Dec '07.
GmaPajama Posted June 9, 2008 #4 Share Posted June 9, 2008 I was there last December. It was gorgeous. Hot, sunny - a perfect beach day! Enjoy.
6rugrats Posted June 9, 2008 #5 Share Posted June 9, 2008 Chilly water? No. We were there last December and it was gorgeous with clear blue warm water.
Boytjie Posted June 9, 2008 #6 Share Posted June 9, 2008 Can't talk about December but we were there end of February. It was very warm and the water was on the colder side (compared to the other Caribbean stops we went to first). It was refreshing!
Homosassa Posted June 9, 2008 #7 Share Posted June 9, 2008 The water temperature can go down to the 70's in December. Too chilly for me (especially if there is a north wind as is common that time of year). :p
May4 Posted June 9, 2008 #8 Share Posted June 9, 2008 We will be ar half moon cay in Dec..is the weather warm enough for swimming? What have you expereinced? Why yes! I'll admit to making some pathetic yelping noises while getting in:p , but after getting it over with---lovely. (I've never been one to dive right in.:) I suspect that you'll love Half Moon Cay whether you decide to swim or not.
Harry1954 Posted June 9, 2008 #9 Share Posted June 9, 2008 We were there last December and the weather was wonderful. We spent several hours just laying on the beach, swimming and attempting to snorkel. Unfortunately, a storm had damaged the snorkel effects according to the life guard on duty .. otherwise, it was a great day at the beach .. and the water temp was just right. harry

rebeljohn Posted June 9, 2008 #11 Share Posted June 9, 2008 We've been to HMC twice in early Dec., and found the water to be fine. We'll be there again in early Dec. this year too................
Krazy Kruizers Posted June 9, 2008 #12 Share Posted June 9, 2008 We have to HMC in December -- the water was cold!!
Travel Angel Posted June 10, 2008 #13 Share Posted June 10, 2008 All depends what you are used to in your area.... to me Dec. the water temps are too cold for my liking from the """peach state"""", and remember that you are not far off the coast of Fla., so the average ocean temps there will be pretty darn close to what will be experienced at HMC.....
