Would you take the D1 bump out ot Aft Cabin?

They are both available, which is preferable? are either of them covered balconies it's hard to tell from the pics, the aft looks likes it slopes down?

This would be for a Baltics cruise on the Jewel in August.

Is there any advantage or drawback to either of the locations?

Thank you. :)

Everyone has their own preference. Many prefer the aft because of the size of the balconies and they enjoy sitting and watching the wake of the ship. We prefer the hump cabins mainly because of the location as they are easily attainable from most areas of the ship. The size of the balconies are fine for us, we do not need more space then they already provide.

My husband cannot walk very far at all due to vascular issus and the aft section is just too much for him. Even so, he says he would still prefer the hump area because it is so convenient to the other venues of the ship

Try them both

Given the choice, I'd take the full aft. There's absolutely nothing like those views and watching the wake.

Pulling into and out of ports, you get to see both sides. Plus it's much quieter at the aft of the ship because no one goes there unless they have a cabin. I love the gentle rocking that puts me to sleep each night too. I'd always choose that full aft.

Thanks, I put the bump out on hold but maybe I will switch to the aft. I have not sailed RCCL before, the jewel doesn't have the big inside promenade that I have seen pics of, right? but she looks nice in the photos.

I had an aft once.

Hated it!!!

It's like riding on a train facing the wrong way.

The balconies are larger, but unless you inted to have a bunch of people over, it's a waste. It's a walk every single time you want to go to and from your cabin. Nothing is close.

With a bump cabin, you simply walk down a flight or 2 and your at the entrance of the dining room. Another flight or two and your at the entrance of the casino.

I guess you can tell my preference.

I'd prefer the "hump" location--on Radiance Class ships, some of the cabins in the front and back of the hump have larger balconies. The location is mighty convenient---right next to the stair and elevator lobby--no noise, tho---and it makes coming and going from your cabin a breeze! On Radiance class, those hallways are really, really long--and walking back and forth is a total bore (and difficult in heels!!!) if you do it often!

Hump.

i've been aft too on Enchantment and hated it....ours was a JS over top of the karaoke bar!

the big balcony was ok, but the whole cabin SHOOK like CRAZY! all the drawers kept opening...AND it IS a long haul! i don't mean up and down motion ....i mean vibrating, shaking.....rattling....i thought the cabin was falling apart.

but, YMMV..........

I'm not going to make this decision any easier for you. My husband and I are going on the Jewel this week and for the second time have an aft cabin. I cannot say enough good things about sailing in an aft cabin. The size of the balcony is unbelievable, the view is incredible - you do not see just what is on one side but the whole panoramic view!!

If you are healthy and don't mind the walk to the aft - which by the way is really not that long or as bad as some would have you believe, then I would jump on the aft cabin!!

I would not care to have an aft cabin on the larger ships but the Radiance class afts are awesome in my opinion!!

Good luck and happy sailing!!:)

DH and I have always had a hump cabin until our Dec. cruise on Jewel to the PC. We were encouraged to switch to 1604 (aft) and did. It was unbelievable!

I was worried about the motion, but it didn't bother me. :)

The view was outstanding.

My DH has mobility problems and for him, the walk was long. He would do it once or twice a day and I just went back for things during the day. :)

I hope you enjoy your cabin and cruise, whatever your decision!:)

My husband and I had the same aft JS (1602) on the Jewel for both the Baltic and the British Isles/Norwegian Fjords cruises. The panoramic views from the aft cabins cannot be beat! We absolutely loved the 180 degree views on both cruises.
Hump cabins as well as all side balconies have 180 degree views.

Oh my lord, I think I'm sorry I asked, now I totally cannot decide! I don't mind the walks, exercise is good.

mamacat, have a great cruise! Would you have any photos anywhere of your aft cabin from last time. Are the balconies covered or can the deck above you look down and see you?

Thanks everyone, I'll let you know what I decide.
