clarka Posted March 8, 2013 #1851 Share Posted March 8, 2013 SHIP: Eclipse CABIN #: 6182 DECK #: 6 (continental) CLASS: 2D AREA: starboard, midship BED NEAR: bathroom QUIET?: Yes! BALCONY VIEW: obstructed BALCONY SIZE: normal WIND A PROBLEM?: no SOOT A PROBLEM?: no PROBLEMS/COMMENTS: The top of the lifeboat obstructs the view down to the water but one can see the ocean ahead just fine; didn't bother us at all. We liked this cabin's location since it was close to the elevator, very quiet, and less motion felt. 6180 next door has a less obstructed view. We would book this room again unless we could get a 2A-C category in a similar area of the ship for a minimal price increase.
cruisegirl1 Posted March 8, 2013 #1852 Share Posted March 8, 2013 Thank you library lady. Using your chart, I was able to move from an assigned AQ guarantee ( under the gym) to a very nicely located cabin - NOT under the gum equipment. We normally don’t pay too much attention to a particular cabin as we sail often and really are not in the cabin much ( and this trip is port intensive). But with all your info so easy to follow, easy to search, and locate any cabin information, cabin strategies are now part of our planning. Thanks, M
librarylady19 Posted March 9, 2013 #1853 Share Posted March 9, 2013 Hi there - so glad you found the compilation useful. Pay it forward by submitting a report when you return. You are definitely better off not being under the gym - been there, done that! I'd rather be under the pool:)
CruisenLexie Posted March 10, 2013 #1854 Share Posted March 10, 2013 (edited) SHIP: Celebrity Eclipse CABIN #: 7217 on hump angle forward side (non-connecting) DECK #: 7 CLASS: 1A Deluxe Ocean View with Veranda AREA: Mid-ship. Best location we EVER had. Right by the elevators and most things are located by that elevator (Buffet, dining rooms, Cafe el Bacio, Cellar Masters, Martini Bar, Bistro on 5, pool, computers, library, excursions, casino, stores and we exited from mid-ship on all but 1 port. On those days you might want to try the elevators on the starboard side to move around the ship since most people use the port side elevators when they come back from excursions but overall the elevators were not a problem. Only exception was around 5:55 for the early dinner seating. BED NEAR: Closet QUIET?: YES There are sliding glass doors going into Team Earth so you do not hear ANYTHING from the atrium. BALCONY VIEW: When you look down you see the water in-between lifeboats. Forward you see everyone's non-hump balcony. Deck is completely covered but we did get sun depending on the time of day. Sometimes the entore space had sun. BALCONY SIZE: Angled balcony (short side approx 7.5 ft; long side 9 ft; width 7.5 ft) 2 mesh lounge chairs. Back goes down almost flat so if you are short you can layout but your legs with hang off below the knees. Use a combination of both chairs and you are good to go. Second half of the cruise we had sun in the afternoon on the balcony. Table is a nice size. and height You could easliy eat on the balcony using the table. CABIN SIZE: 194 sq. ft. WIND A PROBLEM?: Definitely some wind but you can adjust where the chair is positioned and get out of some of the wind. SOOT A PROBLEM?: No PROBLEMS/COMMENTS: Lots of bathroom storage but cabin storage was not the greatest. If the beds are together having them next to the closet won't be a problem but if they are separated you will only get one person at a time by the closet. Ours were separated with couch, nightstand, bed, nightstand, bed, closet. If you do couch, bed, nightstand, bed, nightstand, closet you will have more room by the closet but look out trying to get around the bed by the desk. There are NO shelves in the closet, only hangers. There is storage above the bed. Three smaller drawers by the desk and 2 larger ones but keep those for smaller things. The desk drawer has the blow-dryer and keyboard. We but the art book and the binder about services on top of the safe to get them out of the way. Couch is long and appears to have a trundle bed. nightstands consists of 3 shelves. At least the top one has a lip so things won't roll off. At least in our cabin the bathroom sick faucet moved which helped since it was right in the middle of the sink when we first arrived. Then during the week it moved and that is how I found out so we kept it toward the back of the sink. When you walk in the cabin the lights are on the right behind the door. The round knob is for the brighter lights in the cabin. There is a great nightlight in the bathroom. We kept the door closed as there was a light on the bathroom light switch which is all we needed to find the door handle. Leaving the door open allowed too much light into the room for us. TV: Fox News, CNN, HLN, MSNBC, CNBC, BBC, Celebrity CBS which repeats during the second week, Movie channel, cartoon station (English and Spanish), TNT (English and Spanish), and a few more. Tried to load pictures but it didn't work. Edited March 10, 2013 by I'mHooked
Kirsten T Posted March 10, 2013 #1855 Share Posted March 10, 2013 Ship - Equinox Deck - 10 Cabin # - 1243 Class – C2 Starboard or Port Side - Port Bed near?(balcony or bath) – bath Quiet Cabin – very. Storage closet for staff is outside but we heard nothing from that area. Balcony View - unobstructed; a little forward view, mostly aft view (backside of hump) Balcony Size? oversized - huge veranda! Was wind a problem? No If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? NA Any specific problems with this cabin? None Any other comments? Easy access to aft elevators. Large suite on one side, their outdoor jacuzzi is right next to 1243's veranda so if you hear water running, don't panic.
rosegrower Posted March 10, 2013 #1856 Share Posted March 10, 2013 (edited) Reflection 1655 Deck 11 C2 Bed by balcony No noise problems, quiet cabin Balcony size normal, okay for 2 of us. The round table was large enough to eat breakfast or lunch on. We had no issues with the overhang and had 1 support on the left side. When taking pictures, you had to be careful to keep the support out of the photo but it was possible. No specific problems, if you were booking with others and want to open up balcony, you would need 1653. The support would be in the way for 1657. The walk is rather long to the midship elevators but we did not mind it, the exercise was good for us! Edited March 10, 2013 by rosegrower
Bobal Posted March 11, 2013 #1857 Share Posted March 11, 2013 Ship - Eclipse Deck - 11 Cabin # - 1552 Class – A1 Starboard or Port Side - Starboard Bed near?(balcony or bath) – balcony Quiet Cabin – Yes. Occasionally slight noise from above (it's under Solarium) but not a problem Balcony View - next door to window washing equipment which did obstruct view when looking to right. Missed some nice photo opportunities because structure was in way. Balcony Size? oversized - huge balcony, twice the size of other A1 balconies Was wind a problem? No If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? N?A Any specific problems with this cabin? - Did not like window washing structure but may book cabin again due to size of balcony. However this balcony hardly gets any sun due to overhang. Any other comments? - Great location. Very close to elevators and only one deck up to pool deck. pnsnkr Posted March 12, 2013 #1858 Share Posted March 12, 2013 Cabin# - 7366 Ship - Silhouette Deck - 7 Class - SV Area - Aft Bed Near - Balcony Quiet? - Very quiet Balcony View - Absolutely gorgeous views of the wake both during daytime, and at night from artificial lighting. Balcony Size - The largest balcony in SV category on this floor. Wind a Problem? - Not at all. It was quite pleasant to sit outside and enjoy the views. Soot a Problem? - Didn't notice any soot. Due to prevailing winds the smoke from the chimneys was always directed toward either corners instead of direct aft. Problems/Comments - We will most definitely consider booking this cabin again (I believe that the cabin# is 7364 on Solstice/Equinox/Eclipse.) Downunder girl Posted March 15, 2013 #1862 Share Posted March 15, 2013 (edited) Thank you so much for the awesome spreadsheet Librarylady..wow! I am beginning to think that no one on Cruise critic sails in anything less than a balcony cabin on Celebrity :D. I tried searching the spreadsheet for my deck and/or my cabin and it came up blank. I am on a tight budget and have booked Ocean View cabin on Silhouette, deck 3 cabin 3133 (couldnt get any other cabin on that deck - already booked out). Does anyone have any info on this at all? If not, after our cruise in November 2013, I will report back and be the first to give an Ocean View review. Thank you again :) Edited March 15, 2013 by Downunder girl

CCAustin Posted March 16, 2013 #1867 Share Posted March 16, 2013 Cabin: # 1084Ship: Solstice Deck: 10 Class: Inside Cabin Quiet: No (see comments) Balcony: N/A Size: Cabin had two chairs instead of couch. More square than other cabins we saw. Good layout. Comments: The cabin had a staff service area on one side. Starting at about 4am there was a ton of noise - clanging, moving stuff around, hammering, etc. etc. It woke us up almost every night. Very difficult to sleep at night! I thought I had done a search when we booked this cruise and did not see any posts on this cabin. Just sailed on 3/4/2013 and it was Horrible. I sleep with ear plugs and hubby removes his 2 hearing aids at night. Never got to sleep past 4:30am even after complaining. It is very loud banging and clanging as they drive their carts over the door threshold into the service area. DO NOT BOOK THIS CABIN.
