Not sure when the change-over will be ... but on our cruise this August if they've changed to Pepsi:

I will NOT be happy :( (Diet Coke drinker here)

My mom-in-law WILL be happy :) (avid Pepsi drinker)

Either way one of us will be less happy.

I certainly wouldn't ever take or not-take a particular cruise because of Coke or Pepsi though.

I would not be suprised top see a LARGE decrease in soda card sales.

NCL just lost my families soda sales, let me see if I can get some Coke, the drinkable kind, smuggled past the naughty room?

Will restaurants charge me a Cokeage fee?

cokeage lol

just read a thread concerning cost effectiveness of soda card & it was indicated that it's still okay to lug a case of soda or pop & just put a sticker on it when checking luggage...i hope

Around here The nectar of the Gods is Mountain Dew, which means they will be carrying it as it is a Pepsi product!!!Yea.

:D:D:D less stuff for me to pack now, must have a bottle of dew everyday to keep me going, diet preferably!

Yes, you can take your own soda, no problem.

I'm a little surprised at some of the judgement being thrown around. If NCL were to stop serving beer, wine or liquor, that'd certainly make me change lines.. Some people's "poison of choice" is pop. So I certainly can't pass judgement on them.

I wonder if the bartender's will start to sound like John Belushi.. "No Coke.. Pepse!" :p

It certainly won't keep me from cruising, but when I am thirsty...I WANT THE "REAL THING". I will tolerate Pepsi, but don't have to like it. For me it is always COKE, diet. I am dissapointed about this change. After many cruises with purchased soda cards....I probably will bring my private stock, diet coke, on board.

I am really surprised at the number of people asking if they can take their own soda onboard. This is a well discussed topic every few days here. Officially you can NOT. In reality, it is just fine. Carry-on or checked.

As to why some business do not carry both? Lots of valid reasons. Sometimes a contract. Sometimes cost. Sometimes it is just plain to much hassle to carry both. Same reason they do not carry 20 kinds of beer. Stocking at sea can be a real hassle.

==============

As to why they switched. Could be cost or other terms negotiated with Pepsi. Side note - Harrahs Casino group is totally Pepsi. You can not buy a Coke product in their casinos. Harrahs and NCL are partly owned by Apollo Mgmt. Hmmmm??

Hold it right there...this hits too close to home. No excuse for not having 20 kinds of beer ;) (and while I haven't counted, it sometimes seems they do :))

It will be just Pepsi products im sure. The soda market is a one or the other market. Nowhere im aware of carries both, im pretty sure its a contractual thing.

You absolutely correct...cruiselines must sign an exclusive contract. It's either one or the other...not both! This time, I guess Pepsi had the best price. I'll be bringing my own Diet Coke on board, now. It will probably be my luck to be made an example of by NCL police! :D

Wow...I am super excited. I hope that they make the switch before my very first cruise on April 11 on the Star.

I will have to check the day before boarding to see if they have made the switch, if not, I will be lugging on my 24 pack.

No worries either way. The cruise line serving only Coke products wasn't enough to keep me away but this would make it as close to Heaven as I can get.

Okay, I can certainly live a week without my Diet Coke. Definitely not a cruise line deal-breaker. I'll go without. BUT all I can say is that the Diet Coke in Europe is not the same as it is here. It's worse than the worst Diet Pepsi. So while I was living in Europe last year, I was never so glad to board Gem in Barcelona last June (on my birthday!) and have a Diet Coke bottled in Atlanta Georgia. I'd have been bummed if all they had was Diet Pepsi.

I haven't tried to read the thread, but has anyone threatened to sue NCL for breach of contract, cancel their cruise, or declare how disappointed they are with NCL over the switch from Coke to Pepsi? :D

Are Carnival and Royal Caribbean loyalists declaring this the final nail in NCL's coffin?

If you read the thread, you'll have answers to all of your questions.

If you got the tone of my post, with all the emoticons, you'd probably realize that I don't want to get the answer. It's what's known as a rhetorical question...and one filled with some pretty obvious sarcasm.

I know. Mine too, minus the emoticons.

Just funning.
