what is the wildest,craziest thing you've ever seen on a cruise?

Posted this before on a different thread I think but-the ship had 2 marble sidewalks through the casino that converged on the ends. A couple of old guys on motorized scooters came along, one from each way. At the place the walkway came together, they ran into each other and started hollering at each other. One backed up a short distance and ran back into the other. The second guy backs up a short distance and runs into the first one all the while they are hollering at each other. I was laughing too hard to move but some other passenger came over and separated them and sent them on their way still hollering.

Could very well have been.  I don't recall her name, or whether I even knew her name, but it is a unique kind of entertainment that you don't forget.  😀

Not wild but more amusing.  The DH and I were on the Norwegian Jewel in Alaska, May 2017.  There was a man who we only saw (and we saw him several times each day) wearing the complimentary bath robe jacket style over swim trunks and sometimes a shirt and fluffy slippers.  He wore that to meals, shows, watching glaciers!  It was early May so it wasn't 'warm' yet but he never seemed to have the robe closed.  He was apparently enjoying the relaxation and stress free part of a vacation!

The robe is one of my favorite parts of my cruise! When i was a kid i loved hawkeye on mash, always wearing his robe. So as i've been an adult, i have randomly worn my robe as ibsee fit. As soon as i found out how much people dont like to see people in robes, i try to wear mine around quite a bit. I do my best to not "hang brain" but sometimes a sea breeze does blow by.....

On a recent cruise there was a man who was obviously a body builder but forgot to work on his legs. He looked like a giant Y. Skinny waist, broad built shoulders, thin legs.  He had 3 outfits he just rotated for the entire cruise - yellow, orange, and hot pink.  It was very tiny shorts with a tank top that hung low in the front and was basically just a strip of fabric down his back.  The guests on the ship started to refer to him as Sven (no idea what his real name was) and he definitely got stares when he would be on deck.   I'm sure that was his goal so he was probably very happy.  He also rotated his tuxes which were also brightly colored.  We would watch for him every night just to see how he would be dressed. 

I have seen people wearing wild outfits, but never the same outfit in different shades over and over

During a Hairy Man contest, we stood right behind the judges. Our friend was in the contest and we wanted to see him.  They had 3 or 4 women of varying ages as judges. The oldest looked like a sweet Grandma. The contestants all danced in front of the judges. Well Grandma made them turn around and she would "spank" them. That was the best part of the contest.

We were on the MSC Divina last year and my wife and I were sitting on our balcony enjoying a glass of wine before dinner. I looked over at the partition between our balcony and the next cabin and I could see knees , hands and a head on the floor , like someone was looking under the partition into our balcony.....so I told my wife I was going to embarrass him by inviting him over....so I leaned around the partition and looked and just came back to my wife and she said, why didn't you invite him over ? I said, well, he wasn't looking into our balcony....it was Muslim on a prayer rug !

That makes a lot of sense.  When Muslims pray, they have to face toward Mecca.  (Which is east in the Western Hemisphere by Muslim law; they probably face west in the Eastern Hemisphere.)  With the direction the ship was sailing, when that man faced east to pray, the east happened to be in the direction of your cabin.

Just finished reading all 62 pages as something to do during a pandemic. Had some good laughs and thought I would keep this thread going and add something to it.

 

We were on a Royal Caribbean Cruise some years back and while in St Thomas took a ship sponsored excursion. It was a tour to see some of the sights around the island. We boarded a small 20 person bus and left the dock area. The bus driver was a very friendly fellow and thought he would get the tour going by having everyone introduce themselves.

 

He started with the couple seated directly behind him. The gentleman was of Indian decent and gave his and his wives name and said they were from Memphis TN. The bus driver asked him what he did for a living and he responded that he was a "neurosurgeon" and that this was he and his wives third cruise. Next the couple seated behind them introduced themselves said where they were from and what they did for a living and so on through the rows.

 

This went on until it came up to a couple who were seated in about the middle on the right side of the bus. The gentleman gave his and his wives names, said they were from Chicago IL and he said he was a "rocket scientist". This brought on some snickers from the others on the bus and the man looked around and pointed to the first couple and said "If he can be a brain surgeon, I can be a rocket scientist".

 

After a good laugh we continued on the tour and we all enjoyed each other's company.

One time, a port day in Mexico on the Carnival Fantasy, I was working in the main lounge. We were nearing time to leave port and guests were coming aboard. I headed toward the elevators in the guest area immediately outside the lounge. I was 40 or 50 feet away when the elevators “Pinged” and the doors opened. The drunkest, but still awake, person I ever saw fell out of the elevator. It wasn’t just that they fell. You get used to seeing people stumble and slur their way back onboard after a day in Mexico. This person fell completely flat forward on to their face, like a tree falling over. No hands got up to catch their fall, just splat. This person just laid there making noises. Not noises of pain but more like frustration that they fell over, but they also didn’t move at all. Nose flat on the floor. The person with them in the elevator grabbed one of the first person’s arms and tried dragging her up to her feet or off the elevator. Either way, I didn’t hang around to find out. I made a quick turn back into the lounge, without being noticed, and went back to my cabin through the crew only areas.

The Wildest experience we had was being invited to the Captain's Table with the Captain and then CEO of Cunard Lines. Several other passengers were present and sat at the large table under the Britannia Restaurant huge Tapestry.  

 

That sailing was when the QM2 first sailed thru the narrow St. Thomas Crown Bay and docked.

 

Also the CEO was making a CD Presentation in Illumination of the New Queen Victoria that was being built.

 

It was a very exciting sailing with many events.

For twenty years my husband and I have been laughing and telling the story of how our wedding cake got messed up at our hometown wedding.  The baker mixed up orders and our cake was delivered to the couple that was getting married the following next day and we got theirs!  

 

Well, two decades later, last year my husband and I were celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary on Anthem of the Seas in the Radiance conference center.  We ordered a decorated sheet cake still thinking about how our original wedding cake was delivered to the wrong place.  

 

The cake was supposed to say, "Congratulations Mr and Mrs Skarne".  Imagine our surprise when the cake showed up and emblazoned in frosting was: "Congratulations Mr and Mrs Radiance" - The baker had written the name of the conference room on the cake instead of our last name!  At least it made it to the right place because the name of the conference room was written in frosting!

 

Guess we will be telling that story for the next 20 years as well!

Good one. 😄  This was one of those time in life when it pays to have a sense of humour. Some people would go berserk and others would simply laugh at the absurdity. You could get some really good jokes in your speeches. 

 

I have to wonder though: did you like the hometown wedding cake nearly as much as your own?  Plus, my more practical mind wonders how the bakery compensated you.

Yes it was funny and so unbelievable that our wedding celebration cakes got messed up twice.  Let's see how our 50th wedding anniversary cake comes out LOL. 

 

About our hometown wedding cake - that's a funny story too because all my life I've loved that specific cake I ordered (a traditional Swedish cake called a Princess Cake) - so much so that my friends even spoke about my cake obsession in speeches at our wedding.  My future mother in law and I spent the majority of our wedding planning looking for a baker that would make a tiered Princess Cake for us but in a very unusual blue  - unheard of at the time.  The cake was supposed to have a special place at the reception so when everyone entered they would see it, because all our friends knew how much I loved Princess Cake and they'd get a laugh. I also had specific requests that I didn't want what I called a "silver shower curtain rod" jammed down the center through all the layers, and I absolutely didn't want a plastic bride and groom.  Well, as you've probably guessed, the cake we got by mistake had a shower curtain rod in the middle and a plastic bride and groom.  Funniest thing is the look on my face in the photos as we were cutting it!  My expression was one of confusion and horror but trying to smile for pictures LOL. Anyways, the cake was DELICIOUS and we loved the taste!  I called the baker the next day and he apologized and gave us the cake for free!  If you're even in Stockholm you can go to Cafe Gateau for their Princess Cake - it's lovely.

Things that go wrong often turn out to make the best stories or turn out for the best in unexpected ways. 

 

I kind of hope that something goes wrong on your 50th. 🙂 Maybe one day your children could have a similar story and it could become a family curse. LOL
