what is the wildest, craziest thing you've ever seen on a cruise?

This occurred on the Victory in 2014. My 18 year old daughter, sister and I were all sitting on the 2nd level of loungers getting some sun after a day in Grand Turk. There were 3 girls who were incredibly inebriated in the loungers right next to the main pool and they were taking oodles of selfies. We looked on in horror because one of the girl's "twins" was hanging out the side of her bikini top -- the whole thing. I thought her friends would notice as they took picture after picture of her in all her glory but they were too drunk. About a dozen men were lined up along the railing on deck 10 just googling this poor idiot girl. I finally walked up to her and said, "sweetie, you have an issue there" and pointed it out. The girl said thanks and adjusted herself and continued to take more pictures for 10 minutes before finally one of the Carnival Staff helped her get to her room (she was so drunk she couldn't walk on her own). My daughter who is a bit uptight was horrified.

I came across this thread & have been reading for the past couple of days. I have been seriously in need of some laughs & oh my did this help!! This thread is dying out, but as repayment for the many laughs, I feel I need to add something. After reading, I started to realize more of my stories involve me than strangers! Either I'm THAT cruiser or I just don't pay close attention to others! Either way, these stories aren't the best on here, but they amuse me nonetheless!

1) I was just 17 & with my best friend's family on a cruise from NY to Canada. it was formal night on night 2 of the cruise. There were signs on the exits to the outer decks warning of possible icing. Icing? It's August! Day one had been fairly warm as was the day time of our second day of cruising so we had no fear. We open the doors & step out onto the open deck. On cue, the fog horn blares & scares the heck out of us. We both jump & go sliding down the deck on our backs. Remember, it's formal night- we were in dresses that were now all... up! After that we heeded warnings about icing!

2) On a different cruise I notice a cute guy in the club on the first night & point him out to my friend. Later that night my friend had gone up to the room ahead of me. As I'm walking back to our cabin on the even side of Main deck (remember that), I notice said cute guy struggling to get into his room. He's putting his card in & the door just keeps turning red & he was visibly frustrated. I couldn't help myself & intervened, as someone who had their way around the ship all figured out, to help. He was quite drunk & told me he couldn't work his key. I asked if he was sure he had the right room. He showed me a picture on his phone his friends made him take & told him to show anyone in case he got lost.Turns out he had the correct room number, but was one floor too high. I ended up guiding him down to his room where I was invited in & spent some time with him & his roommates drinking & hanging out. The kicker is I'm relaying this story proudly to my friend the next morning talking about "how drunk must you be to not be able to find your own room?!" when she pointed out that I wasn't exactly the patron saint of the lost. See, I was headed towards my EVEN numbered room on the ODD side of the ship when I came across my new friend. Oops.*

3) My (now ex) boyfriend & I were on a cruise together & having some... fun... mid-afternoon in our room. We were clearly engrossed in our activities as we did not notice the knocks at the door. As the door opens we barely managed to grab some sheets to the horror of our poor room steward who apologized profusely. I now realize the reason for that "snoozin" sign!

4) One night in the comedy show the waitress, Olga, came by & was advertising shooters. My friend & I couldn't decide between a couple of flavors so she convinced to get both. We were already a couple deep at this point. Later on we're getting out of the elevator heading up to get some pizza. I get out & hear behind me "Damn you Olga!" I turn around to see my friend falling face first out of the elevator. She landed face flat down on the floor but with her drink still upright. I couldn't even move to help her because I was laughing so hard! People rushed over to help & ended up walking off either laughing or rolling their eyes once they realized the situation. Yeah.... we're those cruisers for sure!!!

Greatest thread EVAR!

:D

I hope to have stories of my own after our cruse in 3 weeks. Until then, I do have one second hand cruise related story. Not funny just the strange people you meet on a cruise.

My first marriage (also know as the trial run, the dark times and/or the prehappiness period) was to a woman who with her mother and grandmother would cruise fairly regularly. For the first 5 years we knew each other, prior to getting married, they must have gone on at least 3 cruises. Her mother hated me so I never got an invite but back in those days (92-97) I was a workaholic and wouldn't have taken the time anyway, especially if I had to spend it with her family.

So the story, it was probably 95ish, I believe it was a carnival cruise and the 3 ladies had a suite (her mom was fairly well off don't ya know) and they had gotten all settled in and unpacked on day one. Well day 2 was the captains dinner so they all got dressed up and off they went.

This dinner became the focal point of the entire cruise. Her mother (we'll call her Gina) was gabbing away over diner and grabbed her wine glass without looking and proceeded to empty the glass, including the fly that had landed in the wine. She felt it go down and my ex saw it go down but too late. Now I can not tell you if this was the reason or not but her mother was "sick" the rest of the trip and was a total drag on the other 2. (Does not surprise me, same woman refused to talk to us on Christmas day because we were 5 minutes late in a blizzard. - I digress)

Now, when they were getting on the boat there was a young foreigner (22-23 ish a few years younger than my ex at the time) whom did not speak much English but had "bumped" into my ex in the lines and they started a "friendship". Well Grandma was too old for most of the excursions that had been booked so my ex was stuck either going alone or not at all ... until she ran into (we'll call him Marco) the next morning at breakfast. Gina was sick in bed, grandma ordered room service but my ex wanted to go to the buffet. Now Marco found out what happened and proceeded to stalk my ex for the remainder of the cruise including offering to escort her on the excursions and reimburse Gina for the initial costs. This was fine at first until he became .... friendlier and friendlier as the cruse went on. I mean waiting outside their cabin door when she'd come out in the morning, when she would go to the pool, bam he'd appear 10 minutes later. She said by day 5 it was getting both creepy and yet oddly interesting that he could track her movements so precisely with 1200 other passengers on board.

My ex continued to refute his advances but by the second formal he was quite drunk and basically threw himself at her (backed her into a corner and was being very forceful and suggestive) Everyone swears nothing happened but her Latin lover was now resolute in his love of this woman. He went so far as to get her number from grandma and continued to try to communicate with her long after the cruise. I also understand grandma - in her newly acquired free time - also met a suitor and last I heard still carried on a relationship with him via correspondence.

So we laughed about this for some time after, referred to it as the "fly in the ointment cruise". Oddly her mother never saw the humor. She also never saw anything but the suite for the whole 7 days. (Can you imagine?)

Oh and I told my ex next time she went cruising I'd be there too. Never ended up happening - at the time I was not willing to spend the time or money.

Once I get back in January I hope to add some personal stories.

I've made it to page 50 so far, great thread!

I was on the Legend of the Seas when someone put a bomb threat in a bathroom which led to Feds boarding the ship with guns. We were all in the dining room and I (9 at the time) was cold and wanted a jacket so my father and I were escorted by a Fed with a gun back to our cabin for a jacket.

Here is some of the story: http://www.foxnews.com/story/2003/09/23/woman-arrested-for-cruise-ship-threats-sentenced-to-two-years.html

: Did you ever think that this woman was recovering from cancer? Maybe she wasn't but I have a cousin in IOWA that is a cancer survivor & her hair never grew back after her surgery.

There always has to be one in the crowd who wants to rain on everyone's parade.

I always lock my door, and I am also a sleep walker...never been a problem on my cruises until last year......I found myself standing in my birthday suit  in the door way to cabin, looking into hall. Fortunately I woke up, before I ventured out or the door closed or anyone saw me( I hope, no one jumped overboard so I'm guessing no one saw me)..could have been embarrassing to say the least. I started putting the chair in front of door. I had several sleepwalking adventures on that cruise fortunately only once did I try to leave cabin.

My DH and I were on the "thug boat" from Florida to Grand Bahama. The trip was an accidental one and would never book it again... Long story...

We ordered a bottle of Rum to use on the boat and had some in a flask with us to add to our soda. Some rather tall skinny dark complected man was chatting us up, seemed to be rather sociable. He kept drinking shooters he had in his pockets. Like I said, this was the thug boat, not a normal cruise ship. When his booze ran out he stood up and was looking at my DH and saying how he wanted some rum. It was apparent he wanted OUR rum... DH, a rather larger gentleman himself told him no and we were making our leave of the situation. The man angrily stated again how he wanted rum. And poor DH (never harms anyone) said, "Listen, I'm not giving you my rum. It's in our cabin and we aren't going there. And if you start something, it would be no issue to flip you over the side." The look on the man's face was priceless as he went pale, wide eyed, stammered his apologies and stumbled away. I am so glad I never had to see the outcome if he would have made the wrong choice. It was a scary and weird moment. Something I hope to never come across again.

I heard that "thug boat" sunk at the Grand Bahama terminal because it hit a reef. I hope I never see that boat again.

Thanks.... It looks like there is a replacement company, Bahamas Paradise with the same 2-night option.

Yeah. They often "give away" this cruise for a timeshare presentation. And quite often they have $60 pp packages. Often people will take the boat there and return same day or spend a couple nights there and then return. Because of the cheaper fare, you get all sorts of people that go.

I "bought" the vacation for my kid's honeymoon. Then when tried to use it, they said they didn't have anything available. SO.... We used it. The beautiful resort we stayed the night at in Grand Bahama was beautiful.

The trip was interesting to say the least. But no one could pay me to use that cruise line (or the new owners) ever again. It just wouldn't be worth it. I feel so ashamed for going on that boat I didn't even want to list it on my cruise list.

Made it through all 73 pages!

My funny story was my first (and only until this year) cruise in July 2009 on the Norwegian Majesty to Bermuda. I'd saved up money as well as vacation time and went a bit crazy on the pre-cruise shopping for clothes and shoes.

When we boarded the cruise, I changed from my walking shoes into some cute little flats to wear around the ship. They were adorable and got a lot of compliments, but once we were in the interior rooms and corridors, on carpeted floors, I discovered... the soles of those things were very weird. They were fine on tile and wood or other hard surfaces, but as soon as we hit carpet, I was slipping and sliding everywhere.

On the way down the interior stairs to my cabin, despite walking very carefully, my feet went out from under me and I very nearly face-planted in front of the elevators. Crew and passers-by descended on me in horror, but luckily I just skinned my wrist catching myself.

One gentlemen said, "I didn't think they were serving alcohol yet!"

My cruisemates broke up laughing, and I explained, "I'm sober, I swear, I've just got crazy shoes!"

Those shoes went into my suitcase for the rest of the trip.

During karaoke, an otherwise inconspicuous lady decided to sing KC & The Sunshine Band's "Shake Your Booty"

Everything was normal, until she got to the chorus. Up came the rear of her dress and exposed a rubber behind. Which she proceeded to shake.

You could tell she's done this before. There was no way I could have kept a straight face through the bar and intro knowing what I was about to do..

We were on the Eclipse last December and we had an aft room. DH was on the balcony at sailaway watching the ship next to us prepare for their Captains sailaway on the bow of their boat. He said he noticed this woman in a bikini on the other ship waving at him from her room window. He didn't respond because he just didn't completely believe that she was waving at him. Very shortly a man appeared in the window with her and they proceeded to get very friendly/naked. That's when DH realized she had been waving at him to see if they could be seen. Of course, gentleman that he is, he turned away. And promptly ran in the room to get me to come out to see. Show was over by then. I'm convinced DH will never wave at another soul again just to see what will happen.

I have spent the past few days reading this thread and it's been awesome :D

Have been trying to think of my own contribution and remembered this..

My first cruise was with a childhood friend S, S is male, I'm female . The first night after sail away, we decide to head to one of the spas in the Adults area, it was just us two out there for a while before a young lad comes and joins us in the spa. He seems nice enough at first and is chatting to us, then things start to get weird.

He starts asking S and I all about our relationship (or lack there of) and once we say we're just friends, informs us that he's on the cruise with his parents- he's 17 years old (so shouldn't have been in the Adults area anyway as it was 18+), has no friends, has never had a girlfriend and would we be friends with him on the cruise? We quickly tell him we're much older than him (both S and I had turned 30 that year so the cruise was to celebrate our birthdays) so it probably isn't a great idea. He shrugs and says he doesn't mind and then turns to S and asks him since I wasn't S's girlfriend, if S would mind if he tried to "get" with me  - I was still sitting right there!!

I told him no he may not try it and we both decided it was time to leave this young guy to his own devices and make our escape.

So not really funny but definitely weird!!

LOL! Does a part of you want to pat teen boys like that on the head and say "Ohh, Sonnybubbles, you have so much to learn about the world!" before walking away?

Oh yeah haha. I was just floored at this kids audacity!

S thought it was all hilarious of course :D

Sounds more like garden-variety social awkwardness. Or even a neurological thing, like Asperger Syndrome. It's highly unusual for a 17-year-old to flat-out ask people twice his age to be his friends, let alone proposition you two like that.

The old 1 in 10 from sales... if you ask enough someone will say yes! Even a crazy squirrel finds a nut every once in a while.

it's like that on dating sites too. my friend say she gets 'meet me' requests from guys that literally have never even answered her emails. so they just toss it all against the wall and see what sticks
