crusinmama06 Posted June 14, 2009 Author #202 Share Posted June 14, 2009 Oh geesh, now the other thread is locked. Can we all play nice on this one please? No more dollar hotel comments please. And no more psychological assesments please. I would like the thread to stay open for people who actually have questions about the TRIUMPH. Thank you. :D

frazzledrazzle16 Posted June 14, 2009 #204 Share Posted June 14, 2009 I think the reason you're getting so much attention is the tone of your review on this board versus the tone on the RCI board are very different. the thread on RCI wasn't really a review-just a bashing of everything connected with Carnival including the people who choose to cruise on Carnival. I'm not saying you were the one making the remarks, but you must admit there were alot of snide remarks being made. this only creates animosity. Also, many people from the RCI board have jumped over here and incited rebuttals by the remarks being made. You have legitimate gripes about your cruise-I just think all the bashing{on both sides} is unnecessary.Pat Pat- I couldn't agree more. After reading the posts by the OP on both boards, I'm not suprised people here are becoming defensive. The OP posted a decent review, and I'm glad she included both the pos and neg, but I do not think she posted on the Rccl board simply to be informativet. If the Op is really an equal opportunity cruiser, then why wasn't it posted on the Disney or NCL boards? Just an aside, I'm sick and tired of all the RCCL vs Carnival bs and the attitudes of some posters have prevented our family from trying Royal anytime in the near future, which is a shame because the oasis looks rather remarkable. Yes, that may be a little petty, but I do not consider myself a "carnie" or trailer trash. I come from a hard working upper middle class family that enjoys cruising, especially on carnival. We tried a "more elite" cruise and did not enjoy it whatsoever, and came back to the funship. We like to socialize and meet new people on our cruises, so why would I want to spend a week with people who wouldn't mind bringing back the caste system? Comparing Carnival to Hilton? I think you would be more in line comparing Carnival to Motel 6 or the Dollar INN. Case and point. I'm sorry, sir, but I have NEVER stated in a motel 6 or Dollar INN, let alone a Hilton (not to discredit hilton-- some can be really nice I've heard). If carnival is a motel 6, does that make rccl an red roof inn??? Because I've heard the two lines are more similar than diffent, plus that red roof must give it that whole "wow factor" you guys all rave about. sschumac Posted June 15, 2009 #207 Share Posted June 15, 2009 It's been a while since we've cruised, so please excuse me if this is a dumb question. You listed some soda prices, but I'm not sure what they mean. We have a group of 6 going on the Triumph out of New York on 6/25 to Canada and are trying to figure out the cost of the soda card for the whole cruise. Since everyone is 18 or older, is that $22 per person for the whole cruise? Thanks for your help and detailed messages. It's a big help as we prepare to make the drive in to the NYC crusie terminal! nybumpkin Posted June 15, 2009 #209 Share Posted June 15, 2009 One thing I noticed in the very beginning shook me a bit...$30 a day to park??? Is this a New York thing, or am I just spoiled paying $50 for 7 days in Galveston (formerly $35) for so long? Did any of those in line getting their 40 bucks back for people who actually provide them a service find a way to get out of the parking cost, from people who do nothing but claim no liability should your car get broken into? It's a New York thing. $30 a day is actually on the low side - the Midtown parking garages are unbelieveable. And if the people taking the tips off their account live in New York, I can almost guarantee they didn't park at the port. Michele, I think you posted a very good, honest review - and I forgot to thank you for posting the Camp Carnival schedule! I'm sure a number of the activities will be similar on our Miracle cruise in a few weeks.

MrPete Posted June 15, 2009 #211 Share Posted June 15, 2009 Now I'm REALY confused. They had deck patrol on Indy removing babies in diapers, I have pictures....lol. And actually, if it was JUST the babies in the pool, I could look past it. It's just the combination of the whole experience. ANd now you're saying she had baby issues on RCCL? Not surprising at all........they even had babies in diapers in their pools:eek: Now that is surprising:D:p You can call this stalking if you wish, but I had to look at your Freedom review again, since I remembered you having lots of complaints about the childcare personnel there too... http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=550874&highlight=
notentirelynormal Posted June 15, 2009 #212 Share Posted June 15, 2009 5th sentence says it was my third Carnival Cruise and my last paragraph says 'great review". Thanks again for sharing and for taking the time to reply to the replies. I did enjoy the review, pictures and appreciate your opinion. You have taken alot of your time to post here. My "narcissist" comment was based more on the amount of time invested to post and all the add ons etc...I cannot imagine how anyone not self-absorbed could put that kind of time into a project like this...but I could be wrong there...sorry. Don't take offense as I am just an anonymous poster on a web page and really mean nothing to you. Thanks again for your review. Michele is constantly posting on these boards and has dedicated a great deal of time to making it easier for those with children to learn in a "one stop shopping" spot. Yes, she has spent countless hours doing this. Thanks Michele for thinking of others. Its kind of hard NOT to take offense as you are posting a very personal remark to someone you are obviously not familiar enough with to give your own objective opinion. If someone is "self absorbed" they wouldn't bother to take the time to educate others because, frankly, it wouldn't be important to them to do so. If you do a quick review of her posts you will find that she gathers information and shares it with everyone. That is not the characteristic of someone who is a narcissist. Michele, thank you for taking the time to write this review. I know I, as well as many others, value your opinion. It sounds like its time for you to try Princess! I'm not michele but I can try to help with the answer. I was on the same cruise. The soda card is for the whole cruise and not a day by day thing. If you see it listed as $22 then that's before tax and gratuities are added. (pp ofcourse). I know if you wait until the ship starts to sail they remove the tax fee. I'm not sure how long or far it has to go but it has to go a certain distance.
quickrate Posted June 15, 2009 #217 Share Posted June 15, 2009 Comparing Carnival to Hilton? I think you would be more in line comparing Carnival to Motel 6 or the Dollar INN. YOU just did a very good job of validating my point I ws making earlier. I wasn't comparing Carnival to Hilton-I was using that anaolgy to point out that one bad experience-no matter what the venue may be- does not make the whole corporation bad! But YOU took that comment out of context and chose to use it as an opporttunity to make a snide remark! Pat

sasysutler Posted June 15, 2009 #221 Share Posted June 15, 2009 wow, I saw this thread, and it took me hours to read. Michelle.. what a great review, and I LOVED the pictures. My DH and I have had bad experieces on BOTH ccl and rccl, but we keep going back. It's kind of like when someone said the coke vs pepsi... everyone has their own likes and dislikes. For Michelle to spend all the time to help other CC members make informed decisions.. cut her some slack guys. Michelle.. I would love to sail with you.. what a fun person! Not to mention, RCCL is her preferred line (she makes no secret about it, and there's nothing wrong with that). She decided to give Carnival another try. She still prefers RCCL...she shared that info with fellow RCCL cruisers. I think many of us loyal Carnival cruisers may do the same thing if we were to sail RCCL and find we still preferred the Carnival product...post on both boards as posters are constantly asking for comparisons of the two lines.
