HOHO Bus Barcelona

We spent 6 weeks in Barcelona last fall, a terrific time in a beautiful civilized city. When some friends came to visit, we all piled on to a HOHO; picked it up at one of its regular stops in the neighborhood where we were staying. We had a 2-day ticket and used it several times. Yes, there are 2 lines, both covering similar routes with similar prices. The buses run about 12 hours per day (maybe longer) and there are a lot of them. No need to purchase tickets ahead of time. I loved it and found it a great way to see the city and get an orientation.

If you have some idea what you want to do and where you want to go, you can do it a lot cheaper on the public buses. We got a bus map at a tourist information booth plus directions where to buy a T10 pass. Worked great.

If you want to read more about what I saw with the HOHO bus (crowded and long lines), I have a post on my blog

We have also taken the HOHO in Barcelona. I think you only save about a Euro by booking online, so really not worth it.

We had no problems at all with crowds or long queues. In fact, we have taken HOHO buses in lots of cities and this was one of the better ones.

My only problem with the HOHO buses is that in many cities, it is not clear from their map exactly where the bus stop is. Once you find the stop, it is clearly marked. We will probably use the HOHO buses in Barcelona in October. Although pricier than a public transit pass (which we use as well), the HOHO gives a good overview. Often we take the full tour first without getting off and then decide what we want to go back to. The audio narration is usually first rate.
