Rare Saint Greg Posted February 19, 2017 #1 Share Posted February 19, 2017 So I'm on Freedom and first thing I tried a few beers I haven't seen on other ships..a couple from Florida and one from the Chech Republic...Anyways I noticed they don't have Guinness in the casino bar. Guinness is primarily what I drink on cruises. So I ask the bartender if it's anywhere on the ship. She said carnival did away with it. Does anyone know if this is just Freedom, Galveston ships, or is it fleet wide? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Cruzlover7 Posted February 19, 2017 #2 Share Posted February 19, 2017 On the Sunshine in December had Guinness then they ran out and served Sea Cow. It is a milk stout and was a good substitute. I believe they will not serve the Guinness any longer on Sunshine. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It's the closest I've found...but it isn't Guinness and they only have it in 12oz cans...Guinness was 16. Cruzlover7 Posted February 19, 2017 #4 Share Posted February 19, 2017 I agree it's not a Guinness, but I guess that'll have to do. Enjoy your cruise Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Shaded Lady Posted February 19, 2017 #5 Share Posted February 19, 2017 I know I'm going to get flamed for this, but Guinness- BLECHHHHH! It tastes like a combination of chewing tobacco spit and turpentine! (I know- those of you who love it think I'm speaking heresy... I have family members who won't even speak to me about it, for fear of strangling me! LOL) Seriously, it sounds like Carnival has made a few changes in their alcohol inventory in the last few months... even the stuff you can order from the Fun Shops and have delivered to your cabin appears to have changed. I'm not sure what generated the change- maybe a new contract with a different distributor fleet-wide?
Cruzlover7 Posted February 19, 2017 #6 Share Posted February 19, 2017 That's usually typical after the first sip lol. It's like Red Wine it gets better after a few more sips. It is it's own food group!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
hotsauce126 Posted February 19, 2017 #7 Share Posted February 19, 2017 That's a shame because at 15 oz it was one of the better price to quality ratios
Rare crewsweeper Posted February 19, 2017 #8 Share Posted February 19, 2017 There were cans of Guinness on the Vista last month. But the Pub makes it's own stout which is pretty good and IMO Saltwater's milk stout is way better than Guinness. Unless it's the draught cans, Guinness is brewed in Canada by Labatt , and I've heard that Latrobe (Iron City) brews American Blonde. Since Diageo bought the company, the product has gone down hill rapidly.
Rare IntrepidFromDC Posted February 19, 2017 #9 Share Posted February 19, 2017 I know this isn't a thread primarily about stouts, but once I tried Dogfish Head Worldwide Stout I never went back. It truly is wine-like in that it must be sipped and the bouquet inhaled.

PhillyFan33579 Posted October 8, 2018 #15 Share Posted October 8, 2018 My memory might be slightly off, but I recall Carnival getting rid of Guinness and Strongbow around the same time a few years ago. I still miss Strongbow not being on the ship every cruise on Carnival. Angry Orchard doesn't come close to Strongbow in my opinion (way too sweet). Cruzlover7 Posted October 8, 2018 #16 Share Posted October 8, 2018 My DH loves Guinness and if he can’t get it the “Sea Cow” comes close. Unfortunately, last Cruise the Sea Cow was out of date and couldn’t be served so he couldn’t get that either.
