Sunshine or paradise

We traveled on the paradise in the past and loved getting to visit Cozumel and Grand Cayman on a shorter cruise. Not sure whether to travel on the paradise again or try the Sunshine instead. I would be excited to try a larger boat with more options but we have visited the Bahamas several times. For anyone who has traveled on both ships is the Sunshine much of an upgrade in ships? We would be traveling with our 11 year old daughter.

Thanks!

I would love to hear about the Paradise. I have been on the Liberty, Glory, Triumph, Miracle, Destiny -- but this is a smaller ship for us

The dates work out and the ports are my fave -- GC and Cozumel and I want to leave from Tampa -- but will we have enough to do on board?

I know this ship does not have the on deck screen for movies, right? Is that something people miss? I also see it is going to dry dock soon -- any chance for a Guy's?

While I have never Sailed the Paradise. I have sailed the Destiny which is now called Sunshine with a upgrades. IMHO I would think the Sunshine is a pretty good upgrade as the Destiny was an upgrade to Fantasy class ships. These are just my opinions and I am sure some will disagree.

The Sunshine is unlike any other ship in the fleet so I'd say it's worth checking out. It has the best Serenity Area as far as I'm concerned and the pools and waterslides are also really good. My one bit of advice if you do try the Sunshine is to not do YTD, the process is a little convoluted.

I've sailed on both ships and if I had to choose I would go Sunshine.

Here's some video of some fun I had on the Sunshine which may help inform your decision.

Cruised on the Sunshine 4x and the Paradise 2x...hands down the Sunshine is much better all around. The only thing the Paradise is better at would be the size of the comedy club. The Paradise will get the 2.0 upgrades I believe sometime in 2018 and that will help with some added dining options.

Cheers and happy cruising.

why is that? Yes, the checkin and the dinning room is on two different floors like what the vista had before. I had YTD on the sunshine earlier this month and had no problems with it. Whenever i went to the check in desk, there was no line and the taste bar is near by for a quick bite to eat. Then i took the elevator down to deck 3 to the dinning room again with no lines to get in.

The first check in is next to the casino so you're sucking smoke which in my experience impacts my ability to taste the food. Also when I was last on the Sunshine I was with my mother so having to go up and down two decks was more difficult for her; yes there are elevators but the wait can sometimes be significant. Whenever I went to the first check in desk there was always a line and the taste bar was never open when we were there.

Hey, if you like the setup all the more power to you, it's just not for me. Wouldn't prevent me from sailing or booking, I'd just do late dining is all.

My response will be absolutely biased because I have never sailed the paradise. Our last two cruises have been on the sunshine. I also sailed her as the Destiny. I have to say one of our favorite ships. The crew is awesome - the ship is nice and although others have complained about her feeling crowded - well once when we were sailing out of New York Harbor and everyone was outside (who wouldn't be right?) We did the Canada/New England last fall and then Caribbean in February. The Canadian/New England there was never a crowd in Serenity but the Caribbean you had to be out early, but that is with any cruise that I have sailed on.

The specialty restaurants are very good especially the Asian one - I recommend it and our kids loved the sushi place.

I can't comment on kids stuff as our's are old enough to go to the bars/casinos so sorry - but the kids on the ship did seem happy :)

I don't know if Emma is still the cruise director but she is very fun and high energy.

I would not hesitate to sail her again

Good luck on your decision

We traveled on the Sunshine in October and we had the best time ever. She is certainly a great ship, and we traveled with young teens who all enjoyed the teen clubs, so your daughter should have a great time as well.

I would also to be curious to hear more about the Paradise as well, might plan on her sister ship the Ecstasy, for 2019.
