  1. Or favorite is a toss up between Singapore and Bangkok. For Copenhagen, you might want to consider an evening at Tivoli Gardens.
  2. Given your itinerary, a beach bag may not be necessary. You will want a lightweight backpack or crossbody bag for shore excursions (depending on the type of excursion). I use a cross body that is also my personal item for the pre/post cruise flights. One small bag for evenings on board. Like LHT28, I use a zippered tote as a carry on that can do double duty as a beach or pool bag. My bathing suit cover up is also a lightweight summer dress. First cruise mistake: too many clothes and shoes. And then I learned the value of a capsule wardrobe, mix and match, and the fact that NOBODY will remember what you've worn the day before.
  3. Admitting you have no idea what vloggers are or what they do, you are still willing to pass judgement on them as being a new low in public behavior. Perhaps you would like to explain the difference between video and still photography of a meal and why either is unacceptable behavior? And could you clarify why an interest in trying new and different foods is related to obesity? Food tours are about quality, not quantity. They are about sampling foods that may be new to a person, not chowing down with a towering plate from the buffet. Food tours could be compared with wine tastings. Or do you equate those with alcoholism? Again, why pass judgement on something iof which you know nothing?
  4. As the saying goes, I don't even buy green bananas at my age. The farthest out I've ever booked anything is 9 months.
  5. I have to wonder if any of you have actually watched any of the vlogs that include coverage of their meals. They are using their phones or a small hand held camera and speaking in a conversational tone. How this could negatively impact anyone else, not at their table, escapes me. I've certainly endured much more objectionable conduct in the MDR by loudmouths with too much alcohol and no concept of an inside voice. If you find this disruptive, perhaps stop watching what is going on at other tables, and turn your attention to your own table instead.
  6. Beat me to it. Glad to hear they didn't run out of real beer.
  7. Dunno, since you don't mention what cruise line you are on. Usually the dress guidelines apply once dinner service has begun. But most lines, with the exception of Cunard, don't have formal dress rules; only guidelines. My guess is that the person you encountered was just a self important grumpy old man.
  8. Most cruisers, especially new ones, select cruises with ports that hold at least some interest for them. So why wouldn't you want to see what the port had to offer. I'm excluding some of the veteran cruisers who have cruised the Caribbean so often that they just enjoy the ship as a floating resort. Your choice. What are you going to miss on the ship while ashore? Aside from maybe lunch and an uncrowded pool, you won't miss much. There will be little in the way of ship activities until late afternoon on port days. There should be a couple of at sea days when you can take full advantage of the on board day time activities.
  9. Cruisers with walkers are not at all uncommon. Almost all public areas on board will be accessible. The only hitch may be using the tenders if your itinerary includes a tender port as there are usually steps that she will need to negotiate. And of course you will have to look for excursions that she can manage with the walker. Having a folding walker with a seat will make travelling much easier.
  10. My current passport is 8 years old and only has a few empty pages left. But the vast majority of stamps have been entry/exits at airports. Haven't had a stamp going into or out of the US in years- it's all electronic now. I've got no stamps at all from cruises in the Caribbean, or from our last cruise from LA to French Polynesia and back. The last cruise related stamps are from our 2019 cruises from the UAE to Singapore and on to Shanghai. The ship held our passports and gave them back (with entry/exit stamps from every country we stopped at) at the end of each cruise. So I guess it very much depends on where you are porting.
  11. Here ya go: https://englishbreakfastsociety.com/full-english-breakfast.html#:~:text=The 'common' full English breakfast, toasted bread on the side.
  12. Define "better". Hotels are almost always better booked separately. First, you have a greater selection. Second, the same hotel can be much cheaper. Consider that cruise lines charge a premium price PER PERSON per night, whereas booking directly wifh the hotel, you pay the going rate for the room, whether for 1 person or 2. Cruise air has its pros and cons. Some flights may be cheaper than booking directly with the airline, but come with the problem of having to deal with a middle man whenever a problem such as schedule changes or cancellations arise, as they so frequently do now.
  13. Depends on where you are cruising from and to. And what line you are cruising on. Perhaps ask on the forum for your cruise.
  14. No surprise there. When in doubt, pull a gun, don't bother asking questions. /s
  15. This. You shouldn't use water that is too hot to dip your hand in. Anything hotter, there's a real risk of burns if the hot water bottle leaked.
  16. It's a website. Type scam pulse into Google and it comes right up.
  17. As Cruiser Bruce said, there are quite a few lines that do Ireland and UK tours. You might start by looking at the "Find a Cruise" section of Cruise Critic. https://www.cruisecritic.com/cruiseto/?ecid=GSEM_&supai=582907429865&supsn=g&supmbl=&suppos=&supap1=&supap2=&supdev=t&suprnd=5437433344873255568&taparam=&mcid=&sitelinks=4169&suppressTabs=1&source=133139&taparam=ECCGoogleUS_Kdsa-1636158384398_A137168307327&supai=582907429865&supsn=g&supmbl=&suppos=&supap1=16267644389&supap2=137168307327&supdev=t&suprnd=5437433344873255568&supmob=dsa-1636158384398&suplp=&gclid=CjwKCAjwyeujBhA5EiwA5WD7_frff74UMtafVg1t5rIQ_rE_Xf4LBt5pDkHulnAmfi_1e8Ty2WMZXRoCQQcQAvD_BwE
  18. Hair straighteners, curling irons, and hair dryers are generally allowed on almost all cruise lines. To be sure, ask this on the Costa forum :https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/84-costa-cruises/ if her appliance has a UK plug, she will need an adaptor for the European outlet.
  19. Personally, I doubt that I would write off an entire cruise line based on a single sub par experience on one ship. And based on threads I've seen on the different forums post pandemic, complaints about perceived drops in quality seem to be similar nearly across the board. But you do you: if you think RCCL will give you the experience you want, then do that.
  20. (Bolded) How did you manage that exactly? 😂 OP, JMO, but I also would have tipped cash to those who had helped with rearranging your reservations and pre-ordering your meals. And also would have filled out comment cards, specifically naming the helpful crew members.
  21. Is this all on one cruise? As noted by CruiserBruce, you will have to deal with Immigration every time you enter the US. Customs is usually on disembarkation. There is no way to accurately predict how long it might take.
  22. Have you looked on your Roll Call and the Ports of Call forum?
  23. When is the all aboard time? If you want to avoid waits, don't show up in the first couple of hours. If you arrive a couple of hours before sailaway, you'll likely walk right on.
  24. Many people still tip their cabin and dining room staff over and above the auto grats; but do it more subtly than with the showy envelope production. As for bartenders and drinks servers- there is an automatic gratuity added to every drink order. This is included with beverage packages. Tip extra if you see fit.
  25. Unfortunately, if you live in Canada and are sailing out of Vancouver, you won't be able to buy Meclizine (Bonine) unless you can make a run across the border before your cruise. It is usually available on board. Ask at Guest Services. And at your first port stop, head to the nearest pharmacy and stock up. It seems to work best when taken prophylactically every night at bedtime. This also minimizes drowsiness problems.
