  1. Well that's interesting. We wanted it to be able to be in instant contact essential, like "hey want to go to breakfast" that kind of thing without having to actual call the room in case they are sleeping or already out of their room getting coffee or something. But I guess if you get it a 3pm it might be confusing.
  2. Nope, I think you have it covered with your original post. The biggest thing that will get most people is the gratuities being added. A small (literally pennies) tax on drinks in port the first day usually isn't that big of a deal. The only other one I have seen people complain about is in the dinning room, but it was their mistake. There is a "from the steakhouse" section and they will order from it and not read the print that says there is an extra free for those items. So when they get the bill they start complaining. Same thing with specialty coffee after dinner, but you have cheers so that is covered.
  3. Board Ship Drop Luggage Muster Drill (now with new way we do it which I LOVE!) EAT TONS OF FOOD Unpack THE PASS OUT AND TAKE A NAP!
  4. So, couple more explanations if you can please. So the phone is in airplane mode and you are actually texting through the hub app, how does it know who you want to text, do you use their phone number or does it know the people in your group (as long as you are linked together) and you just select the person you want to send a text too some how?
  5. Thanks all. Will certainly get it, that way we can all stay in contact no matter where anyone is on the ship.
  6. We have never used this, but this time we are doing a family cruise with a few rooms. I have seen it on the app and it says $5. I am guessing it just allows you to text people in your cruise group on the ship only, correct? Can someone that has used it confirm, is it a flat $5 for the whole cruise? Or is it $5 per day? Also, I assume you can buy this and not have internet package and it still works, or do you have to have internet too and then this as well? Any guidance would be appreciated.
  7. Not sure anyone can answer this for you, only you will know what you may or may not do. Here is a list of some things you may find you want extra money for - not including the casino you already budgeted for - if it helps: Shopping on Board - Could be something small like their TShirt Deal - or could be big in the jewelry store Cherry on Top - Candy Shop Bingo Games and/or Deal or No Deal if your ship has it Excursions (figure min of $50 per person up to as much as $225+pp depending on port and what you do) Not included food items (NOT specialty dinning, other miscellaneous) - Like Sushi, Seafood Shack, snacks in the sports bar, specialty dessert type items in the coffee bar Art Auction on Board I have come off ships spending $200 for my entire cruise, and I have come off spending several thousand just depends
  8. Yep, can happen anytime between now and when you arrive. I have had one that I got within just a couple weeks of booking, then a couple others I have gotten closer to cruising (usually within a week or two). Never had to wait until I showed up at terminal though. Did get a "free" upgrade once while at the terminal to an ocean view from an inside (they told us they had a last minute cancellation) - won't do that again! Didn't like where they put us once we got on, was above the kitchen and our room smelled like onions and garlic the entire cruise.
  9. Agreed. I WISH I had received this email before the last 4 cruises this year instead of just now before this one coming up. Hubby and I missed out on the free $25 each free play in the Casino because we didn't know about the change.
  10. That's odd, if you are all linked together, when you go in to buy the specialty dinner you should be able to select all the guests in your linked bookings that want to attend and you get one reservation confirmation showing total number of guests. Here is copy of mine from my booking coming up: Cucina del Capitano Day: Sunday, September 11, 2022 Time: 6:00 PM Booking#/Guests: (6 guests)
  11. Yep very true! and I liked they offered them to us in the dinning room! Didn't know we could do that until our 2nd one out this year and the waiter offered saying "you have your free Diamond water would you like that." We always preorder and get small bottles delivered to the room for our cruise since they are easier to drink and carry around... so it was nice to have the free big bottles for our dinner.
  12. THIS! They do NOT book cruises on board anymore. But you can go to Cherry on Top and get gift cards and then take them home and use them to book your next cruise. We did this very thing. Got over $600 in Gift Cards and just took them home.
  13. Yea were afraid that would happen to us too... didn't want to take a chance so we just got our in the dining room or bar. Good thing I guess based on your experience. OOps meant to quote the one above you mz-s 😁
  14. Yes, the bikes you pedal... I thought that was free too but wasn't sure.
  15. Yea, I know, but there are still a lot of recent questions about these still.
  16. THIS! Just to be sure there is no transfer of germs of any kind. All it takes is bumping the dispensing spigot once.
  17. This is the first one of these I have received all year (even thought I have cruised 4 times already), and thought I would share in case others might not have seen it either. It answer specific questions I have seen recently on this board being debated or asked. VIFP PLATINUM AND DIAMOND GUESTS UPDATE AND ONLINE CHECK-IN INVITATION Dear Valued Platinum and Diamond Guests, This communication is being sent to our booked Platinum and Diamond guests. It is independent from any request our guests might have pending for an exemption to vaccine requirements, and the receipt of this communication is not any indication of the status of your request. We want to thank you for the loyalty and support you have shown Carnival, and also make you aware of the new way to redeem your VIFP amenities. These changes were designed in accordance with our new Have Fun. Be Safe. protocols to minimize the number of stateroom deliveries, while making it easier for you to collect some of your benefits. Moving forward, certain VIFP amenities will be linked to your Sail & Sign folio for electronic redemption, like how we currently handle complimentary laundry. Simply claim your benefit, using your Sail & Sign card, and a one-time credit for that item will be posted on your folio and be visible on your statement. Complimentary Beverages Brunch Beverage – redeemable in the dining room. 1.5L Bottled Water – redeemable from any bar, restaurant or your stateroom. Chocolate Delight (5+ Day Cruises) A tasty treat will be ready for you to enjoy; just call room service to schedule delivery. Carnival Logo Gift & Ship Pin Please visit our Photo Gallery to claim your Carnival logo gift and your Carnival ship pin. We encourage you to claim your gifts no later than two days prior to the end of your cruise. We also want you to know that given our focus on meeting the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) requirements and implementation of new health and safety protocols, we will need to adjust how we deliver some of the VIFP priority benefits, as follows: ONLINE CHECK-IN – All guests will be required to complete Online Check-In, which will open 14 days prior to sailing. Platinum and Diamond guests will be given 48 hours advance access to select their preferred Arrival Appointment. Please visit My Cruise Manager on Carnival.com starting at 16 days prior to sailing to complete your Online Check-In and select the Arrival Appointment that works best for your plans. Due to additional embarkation day processes, all guests will have to arrive promptly at their Arrival Appointment. Regrettably, we cannot accommodate any early arrivals and guests will be turned away and asked to return at their assigned time. STATEROOM ACCESS – Due to enhanced cleaning and sanitation, staterooms may not be ready at the time of boarding for the early Arrival Appointments. If you have not checked your bags, feel free to quickly drop off your luggage while our crew puts the finishing touches on your stateroom. This will allow you to complete your e-mustering process and start your vacation promptly. WATER SHUTTLE PRIORITY – Priority water shuttle debark will be provided subject to local guidance at the destinations we visit, which may change without prior notice. Our team on board will keep you informed of the debarkation plans for each port. CASINO – Although we are currently unable to host casino tournaments on board, you will be given US$25 in Casino FunPlay®, in addition to any other FunPlay® you might be entitled to as part of your booking. DEBARK – We will do our best to offer priority debarkation, however, this may not be possible if we have unusually high numbers of Platinum and Diamond guest on board. We thank you for your understanding and patience as we work through our restart plans. Your continued support means a lot to us and our great staff and crew can’t wait to welcome you back on board! Sincerely, Christine Duffy President, Carnival Cruise Line
  18. Think someone was fibbing to you, just received an email from Carnival in last couple days reminding us about that perk. We ran into the same thing when we cruised in July, they never once offered our free bottle of wine (we don't drink wine so didn't care) and overhead them telling another table they had only white. My guess is supply chain issues specific to certain sailings.
  19. Get the TA to fix the past guest number so she gets her points.. skip the Verifly. Don't need it.
  20. That's not good, you mean puff away on their balconies? How rude!
  21. Have a few Horizon questions for anyone on the Horizon in the last couple months, was wondering if anyone can answer. We sailed on her several years back, and this trip (just over 2 weeks - yea!) we have my baby brother and his fiancé with hubby and I and my mom and dad - so baby bro and his girl are likely to be interested in a few things we wouldn't normally do as "old farts" 1. Skyrider is this free or for a fee? How much if fee? 2. Movie Theater I know this is a fee (we did do this), what is it now? 3. Thrill Theater what is fee for this? 4. Putt-putt, fee or free? How much if fee? 5. Does the Adults Only Serenity area have a regular bar and/or a salad bar area (I have seen mention of the salad bar thing on a few other posts about some other ships, never seen one myself as we don't normally go to Serenity 6. Is there a pool and/or hot tubs in Serenity area?
  22. None of the ones that far out have had it as of yet. I have had some booked for 2023 and 2024 for a few months now. It appeared to me that it was only the ones through the end of this year had it.
  23. Carnival is a bit notorious for having different info in different places. I would call and if you find it is going to be a long wait, just submit the price reduction form online. Worth a try to get the price difference back, even if they say no.
  24. So, I have been on 46 cruises on Carnival (I assume that constitutes "enuff"), and never had issues with the water pressure. The only issues I have ever had in the shower is sometimes the brace that holds the shower head/handle up in position is worn out a bit and it likes to flop over and not stay in the position you want. The other thing I do really like about Carnival showers is the ability to slide the shower head up and down as an adjustment. My husband is tall, and I am short and since there isn't a lot of room to back up or move closer in the tight shower space to get it to hit you right, having that ability to move it up and down for height is handy. Also the fact that it isn't a fixed shower head, but an actual hand held shower head that can be taken down. I take it down and use it to hose off our water shoes and snorkel gear (I can lay them down in the bottom of the shower and have the sprayer closer so I am not getting water everywhere).
