  1. Did anyone else notice that unvaccinated guests are REQUIRED to use VeriFly now? That's new. Before it was always optional. Wonder how many guests are going to show up unvaccinated and without having done VeriFly. I guess that is how they are doing it. They are forcing them to upload the test to VeriFly so they don't have to deal with hit at the terminal.
  2. THIS! Did 4 and didn't use it. Wasn't required and didn't want another App. What I read in the letter that Carnival sent out today though. Unvaccinated quests will be REQUIRED to use Verifly. Dear Carnival Guest, In addition to guidelines previously communicated, we are expanding acceptable pre-cruise testing for unvaccinated guests for voyages departing September 6, 2022, and later. These changes are consistent with what local destinations have advised will be acceptable for arriving cruise guests, and we will continue to work closely with local destinations to protect the health of our guests, crew and the communities we visit. In addition to lab administered tests, self-testing is accepted for unvaccinated guests on cruises 15 nights and shorter. Certain destinations do not accept unsupervised pre-cruise self-testing, including Bermuda, Canada, Greece, and Spain. If used for visiting these destinations, self-testing must be supervised by a medical professional. Regardless of the type of test taken, unvaccinated guests will be required to present their negative test results via VeriFLY or as part of the embarkation process.
  3. I know if you google it there are websites that will show you what ships will be in what ports on certain days. Maybe you can find out your chances of docking/tendering by seeing how many might be there. I have looked this up before when going into certain ports trying to figure out what game plan we might have for excursions or even getting off the ship or staying on. Nassau can get especially busy and sometimes we don't even bother to get off the ship.
  4. I don't think you are going to have any issue. The short version is obviously just that, a shortened version of your full name. It's not like one says John and another says Fred. Especially because your drivers license has that name too. Just be prepared to show your license too if you need to, but I would bet you a dozen doughnuts they won't even notice or question it at all.
  5. Yep, put you and 1 kido in one room, and wife and kido in the other. Then only you can purchase cheers. In most cases (if adults were doing this), I would then say go down to guest services when you board and advise them certain people want to switch rooms and they rekey your cards. But in your case, just go to guest services and ask them for a door key to our wife's room and you will have that key to access the room plus your regular sail and sign. I am pretty sure with kids that young you can't have them in the room by themselves anyhow so you would have to book it with an adult in each room anyways if you want two rooms. Now where you actually all sleep and stay is your business. 😉
  6. Since on the Main the lobby deck is above you, depending on exactly where you are at you could end up with some noise issues above your head and a lot of open deck means potential noise possibly It is always best to try to pick a room with rooms above you and below you if you can which act as buffers.
  7. LAUGHING MY BACKSIDE OFF! I just told my husband about this and he paused, stared at me for a minute and said... so they stand in the parking lot, open the little solution bottle put a few drops on the test, it reads negative and they walk in with it.... Why bother 🤣
  8. Reading through this thread about new self test and was thinking to myself how is that going to work and yep, that's what I figured. A picture would do. Really they expect people are going to bring the completed test with them? If you take it 2 or 3 days before hand by the time you get there it will likely be faded out and won't work. And every self administered test I have done (and I have done a lot over the last 2 years for our employees as part of company protocol) says they are useless and do not read the results after 30 minutes. Good grief Charlie Brown... we just rocketed right past moronic to just flat out OMG Bat Crap Craziness.
  9. You may have been getting some other special offer. I have been seeing reduced rates for me because of a casino special. There are all kinds of things you could possibly qualify for that is why you saw lower prices. The "new" prices you see are normal and not high at all. The $50 is just a special price and not normal.
  10. This should have been there from the time you booked. Right now everyone has to answer this one question Vaccination Survey. Needs to be done as soon as you can get to it. Need to do it for every person in cabin. Also, as of right now, there will also be a Health Assessment that you will need to complete prior to sailing, it usually shows up 2-3 days before you sail. This is a more in depth questionnaire. Each person in the cabin will need to answer this too. With the new changes these may both stop, but as of right now it is still showing up and should be done.
  11. We watched a documentary one time on the cruise lines. Basically what they said, and what people don't realize is, the cruise lines do NOT make their money off the room you book - they make their money off everything else you buy. Drinks, excursions, casino, shopping, specialty restaurants, etc. That is what makes them money. It's like the movies. Your ticket doesn't even get them to break even - its the concessions you buy that makes a movie theater profitable.
  12. Ya don't think that is an issue at all. We have been in some port late on days too and people party way past that for sure before they come back on. Like I said, I am pretty sure you can stay out as long as you want as long as you are back on board 1/2 hour before sailing. I don't think Carnival will care if you are on board or not (because they are at the dock either way) - until it is time to sail. But someone can correct me if wrong.
  13. I think it depends on what you want to do. ahl has given a pretty good overview. We always got the middle plan and it worked fine for our needs.
  14. I guess at this point we should all be grateful they have instituted the extra charge once on board for the fuel surcharge. Cruised a few years back when fuel prices started climbing and everyone on board the ship was hit with a fuel supplement charge to their sail and sign accounts. That was fun, a lot of real happy passengers - you should have seen the lines at customer service. Better they raise their price up front to cover all their costs so there are no surprises later.
  15. Someone can correct me if I am wrong, because I haven't specifically done Bermuda, but I have done overnights in Bahamas and usually Carnival doesn't require you to be back on ship until your "back on board time prior to departure." Which means you can stay out all night and into the morning if you want as long as you are back on board 1/2 hr before they sail. Your cruise manager will show your cruise departure time in each port and you need to be back on the ship 1/2 hour before that.
  16. Yes, it is on deck 4 kind of tucked into a corner. Not out in the open on the promenade like a lot of other ships. They had some sweet treats you could get including specialty desserts and doughnuts and coffees and milkshakes. Don't do the coffee, but love me a good chocolate milkshake. Note: If you get chocolate milkshake, ask them to add a little chocolate syrup when they mix it up - MORE better!
  17. We have a GREAT PVP that has done the same for us a LOT of times over the last several years, including getting changes fees etc. waived. Be advised though, Carnival is clamping down. My guy ALWAYS got fees waived for me and I just spoke to him yesterday about possibly switching an October cruise for us and he said they aren't allowed to waive fees anymore - Carnival is clamping down and they can't pull the strings like they used to. So, you may be able to change cruises, but any fees likely would still apply.
  18. Usually there is a deal right when you book for sure! Sometimes there are deals that offer the 20% off later, but only if you book like 3 things. Then you get 10% off one, 20% off the 2nd and 30% off the third, and only on select treatments. The "select" ones are always the more expensive ones, not things like manicures, etc. However, if you visit the spa or go to any of their little seminars they do for free they also often offer special deals if you book right then on the spot for certain things. Also, sometimes they will offer specials on board during slow times (like port days, etc).
  19. Not sure why one would expect anything less. Price on EVERYTHING are up everywhere. Food, gas, etc. Why would the price of cruises not go up as well? Also, they can raise prices to try to start recouping some of the losses over the last couple years because anyone can cruise now - no more restrictions on vaxxed only. So, demand is going to be way up and people will pay it.
  20. Yes, I would suggest later. I always book my pedi on the first day, but not before like 2:30, and we are Diamond so we board right after suites. By the time we get on, drop our luggage, get a bite to eat, do our muster drill, etc. That time slot works out just right.
  21. Thank you LHARTWICK, that is correct. OP said cakes and perhaps decorations. The directions that were given previously will only work if you want to order a package including decorations and cake. I just wanted OP to know if they just wanted the cake, they had to go somewhere else. Don't know why Carnival separated things like this, it is just goofy!
  22. The $25 for the casino you have to speak directly with the Casino host. I actually just called about this myself as right now Diamond and Platinum are given $25 to spend in the casino due to the one perk of the buy one get one slot tournament not being available due to Covid. We haven't been getting it because we didn't know. So I called the Diamond desk and was told, anything like this you have to go directly to the casino and they upload it. Guest Services can't help with that one.
  23. This is how you do it if you want to order the room decorations, however Cakes and other food item selections are not found here. For cakes you have to be logged in and then on the main home page there is a "The Fun Shop - Celebrate on Board" tab. This is where you have to order cakes and food items. It doesn't work if you try to do it from inside your booking under the manage tabs there. Used to be able to do it from inside your booking and they changed it and made it goofy a while back, and you have to do it from this home page link.
  24. THIS! All but the cruise fare itself will be refunded. Note: Cancellation of shore excursions must be made prior to 24 hours before sailing. From Carnival's site: For online cancellations of excursions that occur before the cut-off window (24 hours prior to sailing), a full refund will automatically be posted to the credit card that was used to pay for the shore excursion order, regardless of whether the person who made the purchase is sailing. Please allow 7-10 business days for the credit to post to your account. No changes can be made after the cut-off window until sailing and must be approved by the Shore Excursion Manager onboard. For cancellations made once onboard, any refunds will be made to the Sail and Sign account of the order’s contact person, not the original credit card used to secure the online order. This condition applies even in the event that shore excursions were purchased as a gift by someone who is not sailing.
