  1. We've stayed at the Hampton Inn & Suites Cruise Port twice now. It's only a mile from Terminal 1 and they offer a park/shuttle to the port because I saw the big sign in the lobby. We always park at the port just for the convenience (especially when returning from the cruise and not having to wait with thousands of people for the shuttle). I don't remember the price but it seemed reasonable.
  2. Depends on which terminal.....terminal 1 for Royal Caribbean has some congestion due to the same driveway leading to drop off and parking but there was lots of parking once we got into the garage last week. Same with terminal 5 which we used last June but less congestion due to smaller ship. We had a 12 noon checkin time but got to terminal 1 at 9:30 to make sure we got a parking space. Tons of parking since the prior cruisers had already left. We were on the ship by 10am. By noon, there was quite a bit of traffic waiting to drop off but we could still see lots of parking spaces from our balcony on the starboard side of the ship. If you get there early enough, allow less than an hour to park and check in. No one checked our 'check in' time, by the way.
  3. Funny how RCCL's customer service gets blamed for someone wanting special treatment against the written contract they agreed to.
  4. Our check in time at PC on Jan 15 was 12 noon. We arrived at the port at 9:30am and were on the ship by 10am. No one checked or cared. We wanted to get a parking space, which is why we got there so early. As it was, the entire second floor of the garage was empty since departing passengers had already left.
  5. We got off Wonder of the Seas last Sunday. We got a Maine lobster tail in the MDR one night for no charge. An additional Maine lobster tail was $16.99, which I had on another night (available on the menu every evening). I prefer Caribbean spiny lobster - meat is sweeter than Maine lobster but we didn't have the choice.
  6. I think you are correct. We were there for quite awhile in the afternoon and several large jets landed and took off. I think the sandblasting was one taking off and we were right at the fence on the runway side of the road. It really was awful....no fun at all. I had a face full of sand and grit and almost lost my sunglasses.
  7. We were there a few years ago and the beach was packed, as were the bars. It was not fun getting sand blasted when a jet landed right over our heads. Never again......
  8. We were at dinner when the rocket launched - I took some photos from our table window. I saw the rocket lift off then watched a few minutes later as the boosters came back to land. It was amazing. Not great photos since all I had was my I Phone camera and had to take photos in a hurry.
  9. Beware!!! Don't park ANYWHERE in Miami other than at the port. It's just not worth coming back to a vandalized car regardless of where the parking is. Putting up a chain link fence around an empty lot and calling it cruise parking is rampant in Miami. So are the thieves. A lot of car parts are sent to South American from Miami and the surrounding area. I worked in downtown Miami and NEVER drove - always took Metrorail and Metromover because cars would be vandalized INSIDE our building parking garage every day. Not worth it.
  10. Someone has a bad experience with the airlines and headlines: Thinking of NCL? Look elsewhere! as if the same thing doesn't happen with any other cruise line. Typical rant from someone who expected the perfect flight and/or cruise and didn't get it. Always someone else's fault.......
  11. (referring to the Creme Brulee): Doesn't matter to me. We're going for the itinerary, not the food.
  12. I agree, we won't be going on Wonder, Harmony or Oasis again. Once you've been on them, not much difference between them. And not really our style since we're not into all the water stuff, pools and specialty restaurants.
  13. I think you mean Freedom, not Odyssey. We were there Sunday (Jan 21) and Freedom of the Seas was docked next to us.
  14. We're on Prima in July coming up. Menu looks good to me. Of course, any menu with Creme Brulee for dessert looks good to me.
  15. We were on Wonder last week (Jan 15-22). Huge 'international' group of people (and their young kids) sound like same ones that were on our cruise. Solarium Bistro closed last week as well for Jewish group but that was fine with us. Solarium was also stuffy for the first 2 days but it got better as the week went along or maybe we just got used to it. Still, nice to get away from all the kids (yeah, we're older folks).
  16. 1. Queen Mary II 2 thru 5. any one of 4 Holland America ships. 6. Radiance of the Seas 7. Crown Princess 8. Norwegian Pearl 9. NCL Norway (now extinct). 10. Paul Gauguin in Tahiti
  17. I agree- disembarked Wonder of the Seas the day before yesterday. Fresh carved meat everyday, international dishes each day (Mexican, Italian, Indian, Asian etc) and getting to try different dishes I'd never had before was amazing. Tasty desserts, always fresh fruit, tons of different kinds of breads, it was a very international experience and I loved it. And for those who don't care for international, there were the usual hot dogs and hamburgers available every day. Something for everyone.
  18. We were on this cruise as well. Nice ship. Not in our top 10 but still nice. Ice show was half of what they used to be. We saw a much longer, more elaborate ice show on Harmony a few years ago. The show we thought was outstanding was 'Voices'. It was absolutely magnificent! (and amazing!) Agree with Aqua show - very well done but way too loud. Head throbbed leaving. Crew were very good. Friendly, attentive, plenty to go around. No shortages we could see. Food (always subjective) was good but we thought better on Harmony and Mariner. Loved the lobster. I had the best sweet/sour chicken and the best Felafel sandwiches I have ever had in the Windjammer. Plenty of room in the Windjammer even with the huge group of people with their kids that were aboard. (when I say huge, I mean over a thousand families with their kids). Unfortunately, they don't believe in being quiet in the hallways after 10pm. We stayed on the ship this cruise since we've been to St Maarten, St Thomas and CocoCay numerous times. Best time to be aboard! We won't be going on Icon Of The Seas. It's too family oriented for us (we're seniors so we like peace and quiet). Still, a cruise is a cruise and it's better than staying home. The most interesting things that occurred last week were the launch of the SpaceX rocket, which we witnessed from our dining room table as we sailed out of the port, and then watching the boosters land. Also interesting was the abandoned life boat from an auto carrier that sunk 11 months ago off the coast of Portugal (per the announcement from the captain). Sad situation for people who were pelted with shards of glass when apparently some kids shattered the glass partition between balconies above the Boardwalk. We heard the Alpha Alpha Boardwalk announcement. We also saw firetrucks and ambulance meet the ship Sunday morning at Port Canaveral. Best thing for us, our departure time was 6:45 (self assist). We were in our car and on the road by 7:15am. Couldn't have been easier.
  19. Metrorail and Metromover service on Sundays is spotty - the schedules are cut back from weekdays. Rode both for 13 years Monday thru Friday but weekends were always iffy (when I needed to be at work on weekends for overtime).
  20. Lobster was the same as I ordered a few nights ago but I didn’t have to pay for it this time. Huge (maybe 6 oz?) and delicious. Came with a baked potato, asparagus and huge slices of carrot (which were too crunchy for me- I like my carrots soft and preferably candied).
  21. No joke. We’re on Wonder right now and love the ‘stations’ in the Windjammer. Great place to eat and lots of tables and chairs.
  22. Go with Harmony. We’re on Wonder right now and not that impressed (other than we love the lay out of the Windjammer on Wonder). We were on Harmony in January of 2020 and found it to be more to our liking. Wonder is overly geared towards families.
  23. The shows are at different times everyday. Some shows are only once, some several performances. We’ve been to shows at 3:30, 6:45, 7:30 and 8:00pm this week. Best reserve asap on the app because hardly anyone in the standby lines are able to get in.
  24. We’re on Wonder ots right now. I purchased the Maine lobster 2 nights ago. It was huge snd delicious. Tomorrow is lobster night so same thing at no extra charge (second tail costs $16.99). But I do think spiny lobster is sweeter.
