I should have added: we keep going back and forth on whether to rent a car at FLL to return the morning of the cruise, or use the hotel shuttle from FLL to our FL hotel, and then a shuttle from the hotel to POM. Renting a car would make it more convenient to have dinner and pick up wine the evening before the cruise, as well as not worrying about a shuttle no show. Shuttle from the hotel would be more convenient the morning of the cruise.

FWIW, I emailed their customer service and asked about the gift card situation. They replied that gift cards have been "temporarily removed."

So the Budget rate is a lot less than Avis. Did you happen to notice if they share the location/shuttle service? Thanks!

Not only are there no Carnival cards available, they don't have ANY gift cards for sale, of any kind. The whole category of rewards is completely gone.

People keep them in a safe place and only take them out for travel. Therefore less likely to lose than a DL, which is taken everywhere. Also, less likely to lose 2 things than 1 thing.

I did not pay for expediated. This family member isn't cruising until August, so not panicking yet.

Do they have a large van type shuttle, or just take you in a regular car? As a family of 5, with luggage, and then plus the driver, it'd have to be a van type shuttle.

Online renewal: Submitted Nov 30. Photo accepted on first try, no issues there. But, the system did have occasional issues sending the one time code. Still has status listed as "Received" Anyone else that did online renewals have a status say "received" for so long? We also just made an appointment for the kids passports for end of Jan. Had to wait for the 1 year before expiration. Cruise is beginning of July. Five months should be plenty of time (I hope!)

You mean you're not BBQing for New Years Eve? 😁 So.... Coming home, we're thinking of spending the night around Knoxville. Any dinner recommendations there? We're continuing on I-40 in the morning. Probably will stay in a hotel after the city to avoid rush hour traffic in the morning (we'll probably want to sleep in a bit). Of course, we may have to deal with rush hour traffic in the evening this way, but better that than in the morning.

We're flying into FLL the day before our cruise. We're 5 people, and it was a lot cheaper for us than flying into Miami ($100 pp each way I think it was, so we're talking about $1000 total). We're staying at Hyatt Place Dania beach. Free shuttle from FLL, restaurants for dinner and shopping for wine both within walking distance. Taking a shuttle from the hotel to the port in the morning. Some reviews of companies can be found here, also other travel sites with reviews as well. Our flight leaves the afternoon of arrival back to Miami. We're taking the cruise transportation to FLL which includes the Everglades tour, as we have a 6 pm departure.

Not too much BBQ.... Just if we will be able to enjoy Ol' Fashioned BBQ after having Texas Pit Master the night before. If there's too much of a drop off, we might have to hold off on Glory's BBQ offerings.

On the phone no limit. Online, there is a limit per transaction. If you pay online, I remember reading about sometimes not being able to make a partial payment. Which would mean having to pay the rest with a credit card. This was awhile ago, so I don't know if this still happens. Just to be safe;I would call it in.

I was hoping for the brand new VCR and 19" color television with remote control. But, lost again.

I played black jack at a casino once. It was a very small one, in a tent actually. I sit down, and the first three hands, dealer got black jack. Everyone else at the table got up an left. I got up also, and the people at, or watching, the table, avoided me. And, apparently, they told others too. Within 15 minutes, it seemed everyone was avoiding me.

Just want to say.... in August we're taking my father in law on his first cruise also. He was born in 1940!
