  1. Sadly not. Was able to bring on my own in New York and will do that again for the future.
  2. Thanks so much! I was on the 4/22 from Brooklyn and they were so amazing. Was hoping they were getting a well-deserved break but sounds like they’re off to another ship?
  3. Do you know when they head home? We board 10/25 and imagine they probably will have gone already.
  4. This was from the Luminae staff on the Solstice. Conversely on E class the galley is much closer, as they explained, and completely dedicated to Luminae. They cited the long distance as cause of many of the complaints they get about food temperature. I can appreciate what you saw on the tour, but can only go on the direct accounts we were told. “Luminae is the only restaurant on the ship without its own galley!”
  5. He’s one of my absolute favorites and I definitely recall him prescribing a “small” (was not small) taster of one of the other entrees a few times for me in addition to whatever I selected. See if you can catch when he’s headed home on vacation for me, please?
  6. Reportedly you can also push the cruise out into the future (up to 90 days) but that benefit is sometimes not well understood by the shoreside call center.
  7. They're set up for it. At least for Meraviglia, as of a few months ago, they used to be available for purchase and given out in Yacht Club but now they are only given in YC and not available for purchase.
  8. Welcome aboard! So nice to see some of my "favorites" in your butler photos. I was on in April and will be back in October with my family so some may still be around although I know they all deserve a hard-earned vacation. Enjoy your time! Will be waving from the Jersey Shore as you pass in a few hours, our weekend tradition!
  9. I think it's best to fill out the medical form describing this need and any other things she might need - would a shower stool be helpful, real fridge for medications, sharps container, etc.? Will be up to guest services but if you've documented it ahead of time it may help. I have experience with getting another card (and vice-versa) for my Mom's solo cabin on Celebrity, but not with MSC unfortunately.
  10. Also, you wouldn't have much time. Isn't departure 4:00 on these cruises? They'll want everyone on by 2:00. At the best, you might get checked in and onboard by 10:30. If you were able to leave again, and if your intended destination is in Manhattan, you've got a cab ride ahead of you or the ferry in each direction. Now, you could drop your bags off with the porters and head back out, but even that involves some inefficiency depending on where you're staying. Are you staying in Brooklyn or Manhattan, and where do you want to go that day?
  11. Also, there's a door out to the Bamboo area right from basically the YC hall (at least on starboard side, maybe port too). still secured for YC only. Although not indoor or fully covered, YC pool area is sheltered.
  12. Sorry to resurrect a dated thread, but for folks who enjoy sun on their balcony - would you suggest deck 10 or deck 14? Is deck 14 totally exposed? Deck 10 nearly double the size but half sun and half shade? Of course all depends on angles of sun and which way you're headed, etc.
  13. Usually an invite night before. YC director promoted his trivia personally around the pool deck. There were also a couple signs around regarding the trivia. Might be in the program for more formal ones like the tea. Your butler is also a good source of the “scoop”.
  14. Yes, you leave your bags with the porters in this tent. Then you walk across and there are port employees with YC signs to take you into the terminal. He escorted me through security and took me to the YC check in room to be handed off, then the ship butlers were waiting. for disembark, YC bags are still in the same bag hall. But there is a different color tag for YC so all the YC bags are together.
  15. Thanks! Going back in October and need to drop off Mom and Dad and the suitcases so working on my plan. When I was on in April, I was alone and so had a lot less stuff and just parked and walked my bag over. As it was the first sailing I’m sure they’ve made some changes to the process since then.
  16. Did they move the tent? When I was on in April the item circled here was a bus shelter-esqe structure in the corning of the parking lot. We have inclement weather on the way back and lots of folks waited there with bags on disembarkation while someone else went for the car. The YC tent was just below the word "Wharf" that runs parallel to the ship, between that and the deep bus-friendly parking spots there.
  17. Do you pay the a la carte price or I assume it has just been taken care of since they’re satisfying your request with those supplies, not necessarily ordering in from BC by name? We love crab legs and they don’t have on menu in YC (Meraviglia doesn’t do the seafood buffet on deck) but I know they have on board for BC.
  18. 100%! When I want solo I did not get one, but going soon with my parents and got one. Great for mobility challenges, sun sensitivity, etc.
  19. Call center reps frequently say MSC’s definition of “within 90 days” is actually “within 90 days in the future.” That’s a gotcha - you can go 11 weeks out but not the week earlier. You’d think they would be happy to get money sooner.
  20. I did - and was happy to help out folks who looked like they had trouble standing/getting around or were waiting a while as they got in with me. (Also the "what YC folks paid" being some sort of impressive sum is a bit of a myth - when you break down the values or take advantage of upgrades, etc.)
  21. Or maybe they’ll give you an express ride to wherever you like. No need to assume!
  22. If you want looks, parade along the pool deck from the YC to the slides and back with your blue yacht club towel 🤣 oops!
  23. For me, I've tried a bunch of them - Oceania, Crystal, Retreat in Celebrity in an upper suite and YC was better than all but probably half or less of the cost. Really enjoyed actually having the larger, more fun ship to "go out" to.
  24. When we arrived at LAX we took the shuttle provided by the LAX Marriott, where we were staying (and will stay again in the future when we take a layover on the way to Tahiti). The hotel shuttles are allowed up to the terminals but I understand only Uber Black is allowed to the terminals. So that is a factor with ride share for pick up at the airport. Then, we took a Lyft a couple days later from our hotel to San Pedro (right near airport) - it was $50 for a Lyft XL in October 2022. Re: all the other stops, no the bus does not necessarily take you to your terminal - the shuttle makes two stops only. So depending on what terminal you are at you might have to walk three terminal lengths or transfer onto the LAX inter-airport shuttle with all your checked bags and in our case mobility device, etc. I don't remember the terminal numbers, unfortunately, but we were on a United flight and left far away. Lots of people were grumbling, especially after the disembarkation process with the multiple terminals that morning and the fact that Celebrity didn't communicate this ahead of time to set expectations. I would only use the Celebrity shuttle in LA again if going directly from airport to ship. It sounds like you will have to get a ride back to the airport from the hotel to get on Celebrity's shuttle which will cost time and at least a few bucks tip. The process of waiting for others than at LAX will also add time. I think I pre-scheduled our ride from the hotel (since, unlike the airport day, you are on your own schedule and therefore predictable) for cost certainty and to compare Lyft and Uber. You can do that right in the respective apps and cancel if something changes for your plan. Certainly I would have expected the fare to be a little higher leaving the port due to demand pricing, but you will also have cabs available there.
