  1. From RCI website...

Smoking is not permitted inside any stateroom and any stateroom balcony. This applies to all stateroom categories onboard. If a guest is in violation of this stateroom policy, a cleaning fee of $250 USD will be applied to their SeaPass® account and may be subject to further action pursuant to the "Consequences Section" of the Guest Conduct Policy.

    and Consequences

    Consequences

Failure to act in accordance with this policy may result in:

    • Intervention by Security, other management personnel or law enforcement

    • Removal of certain onboard privileges, which may include being detained, quarantined

or confined in a stateroom or holding cell

    • Confiscation of illegal/contraband/prohibited items (may be turned over to the law

    enforcement authorities)

    • Denial of boarding on the current or any future Royal Caribbean cruise

    • Reporting of the incidents to government and law enforcement authorities for follow-on legal action

    • Removal from a ship at the next port of call. Guests removed from a Royal Caribbean

International ship pursuant to this policy, are responsible for their own accommodations and

transportation home, at their expense. Documentation requirements for re-entry into the guest's

home country are also the responsibility of the guest.

I doubt that the person's Loyalty Status or Cabin Category would make a difference in implementation of RCI's policy.

There you go! Thank You for responding & posting this. I actually leave for San Juan in a couple of days and as such, I just reviewed my e-docs... and sure enough, I found it! I smoke cigars and I'm always considerate when doing so. I wait patiently for everyone to leave their balcony before I fire up. :D I kid. I kid. Seriously though, smokers & non smokers can indeed get along if they really want to. It's a respectful give & take. Most people understand this, but the few extremes from both sides of the issue will unfortunately always push the envelope.

To the OP, enjoy your first balcony to the max!

  2. It's not a one time fine.

    1st offense - Warning

    2nd offense - $250.00 fine

3rd offense - Put off the ship

Is this in writing anywhere or just message board rumor? I would think that the level of one's loyalty program along w/ the particular cabin the smoker has would come into play. I could be wrong, but I doubt it. :D

  3. Margaretaville has been with NCL for a while now. What they've done is take away a free place for a fee place. It was free for a while on the Escape, but then it became an extra cost, which it is also on the Getaway and Breakaway. From what I've heard, it's nothing like the Margaretaville restaurants on land, and the menu is pretty much duplicated for free at O'sheehans.I doubt Royal missed out on anything.

Well industry wide, free place is being replaced by fee place. I've never eaten at O'Sheehan's but I admit that I struggle to find someone on a RCL ship that can deliver the goods when it comes to Chesseburgers & Nachos like Margaritaville.

  4. Royal is now posting the boarding times, by deck... are you going to follow the request?

This is nothing new to RCL. I've received notice via text to board at a certain time as early as 2013. Few if anyone ever follows this. I was a newby and actually walked up & down the long line attempting to find my correct spot in line. I must have been pretty entertaining as most folks just smiled, chuckled, and some laughed.

BTW, I've followed Cindy's posts for awhile. She'll be one of the first to board as they generally enjoy the suite life.

I have no issue with the perks that you pay for, and boarding early is one of them. So far, we have not come across a bad cruiser in the Diamond & above grouping or those with inside cabins. A cruise is what you make of it. If you look for problems and issues, you'll surely find them. I also seriously doubt anyone snubbed anyone or looked down at anyone as mentioned above.

    .

  5. There are too many diamonds and diamond plus for ANY ship to be able to accommodate them in a Lounge any more. That's why they instituted the vouchers, who's is by far the one perk that deemed most important by those surveyed.

For those that proclaim that they like hanging out with like minded people: hello, any public space will do. Just make arrangements to meet at X Lounge.

Sent from my iPad using Forums

I encourage all Diamonds & above to stay in your designated area. Please don't over crowd the rest of the ship's bars. :D I kid. I kid. Seriously though, Royal has it going on. They've created a loyalty program that just keeps growing and growing.

  6. Slow, but hopefully they will improve it in the coming dry dock.

We're on the last cruise before dydock as we booked this cruise 20 months ago and the dry dock wasn't even announced. Perhaps it'll work for future cruises. I think I'll pass on the 30% savings and wait until we get on board. Maybe we can get a few reviews from other cruisers.

    thanks

    Bob

  7. How many were on excursions booked through RCI?

Want to hiss off a customer and start getting a bad rep. Let a bunch of customers pay YOU for an excursion and then leave them with the thumb in their rear on the dock watching the ship sail away because YOUR contractor did not get everyone back to the ship on time...for whatever reason.

Not to mention the expense RCI would incur to get all of them to the next port.

Questions: Did you miss any port? If not, what difference did it make?

It happened to us on our first cruise. We were 45 mins returning via a RCL excursion. The ship waited and a Royal Rep wearing a Blue Blazer greeted us at the van and asked us specifically, "Are you the _______'s?" There was a total of 8 of us in the van, two families.

Interesting note... As soon as we got on the ship, RCL paged our daughter to report to security. We were right there as we boarded and they just wanted to verify that she was on the ship as she was young, single and staying solo in her cabin. We thought that was cool. She was also the very last person to 'ding' back onto the ship.

  8. Have you ever used an AMEX Offer? I have, many times. Unless they say they are valid for multiple uses, they are only valid one time. A new statement period makes no difference.

I'm going to try it anyway. Most offers expire in 30 days or less. Not so for this current offer. The current offer is for Celebrity. Royal's just recently expired. And yes, I've used it before. Multiple times.

  9. I'm confused. Is this some generic travel offer or a specific Celebrity offer under the "AMEX Offers" section of the website/app?

    Sign on your AMEX

    Click on Benefits

    Click on Amex offers

    Click on Get Started

    Scroll down to the bottom

Click on Load More <----- a must do!

    find the Celebrity/RCL offer.

    Click on Add to card

I suggest that you use the card of the authorized card holder. Once you 'add to card', the offer then disappears when you sign back on as it's loaded to the account.

Good luck and have a Good Time cruising!

  10. I have that offer on my card, I just don't have the card yet to use it! I applied for the free blue card last week, it let me login and put it on my card. Now I'm just waiting on the card to have a CVV and expiration date!!!

    Hi Karen,

You should have no worries. The offer expires on Oct 31st. It's also good on Celebrity. We're going to $500 for two billings cycles. (closes on 20th each month) So we're going to do Sept & Oct. pay $1000, get $300 credit. Gotta love it.

  11. Hi and thanks for the reply, but just to clarify, we will be eating at chops, and on the menu there are upgraded steaks for an additional cost above the (now $42/pp) cover charge. Just wondering if anyone tried these?

The taste of any food is so subjective, and as such, what I like or dislike you may think completely opposite. While I don't wish to place a pre-concieved notion of your future visit to Chops, you did ask. :) We've tried the standard menu steaks and have paid the upgrade steaks. To be honest, we didn't care for them. I believe the biggest issue is they are not char-broiled and therefore to us they are bland in flavor.

Our upcoming cruise in a couple of weeks, we have elected to get our steak on for the week while on land in Aruba. Adventure departs very late in the evening on the Aruba stop so we've made reservations at El Gaucho.

But please do try to keep an open mind and enjoy your visit to Chops! and your cruise!

  12. Just was looking at the website and noticed that Chops Grille is now 42 bucks. I remembered earlier during the summer that it was 39 or 35.

Now surpasses 150 Central Park as the highest priced Restaurant on the ship.

Anyone know if anything changed food wise, or was it just an increase?

    T

Not worth it. It wasn't even worthy of $35. Chops is nothing but a Sirloin/Bonanza Steakhouse on a ship w/ a grade level better of ambiance & service. We haven't been served a great steak at Chops yet on four different ships.

  13. I don't care what they call anything. A sale, a promotion, a BOGO, a bogoho, a special, any percentage off.

I look at the price they want to charge me, and if it's a price I am willing to pay for a cruise I want to take, I book it.

If the price changes in my favor later, I am happy. If it doesn't benefit me, I ignore it.

I don't understand why this isn't obvious to all.

Totally agree. I personally think RCL's pricing is most excellent marketing. They are not selling a loaf of bread, a tank of gas, or an electronic device. They're selling vacations. As you said, nothing matters but the bottomline price. If I think it's good to go, I book, if not, I don't. Why some can not comprehend this is strange.
