It's been posted by quite a number of posters on Cruise Critic that there are 'Cabin Hogs' & 'Suite Hogs', much like the Chair Hogs we see around the pools. Some have booked cabins that they know they are not going to use. But book them to remove them from available cabins in the event their schedule changes. Yes, it's selfish, but that's why they're called hogs.
There is a very good chance that you'll end up getting a GS as final payment dates become due.

Royal is far more family oriented so there will usually be more children. It has more "toys" such as flow riders, rock climbing walls etc. Basically much busier than Celebrity.
Celebrity does have a children's program but nothing like RCL. I would say it is more adult oriented and definitely more upscale than RCL.
My opinion only - so no need to get fire in your eye for those who don't agree with me.
Tell me Celebrity w/ an Alaskan cruise. Is it more casual than other Celebrity cruises? Does sailing in the Alaskan frontier make it so?

It does not have to be an original birth certificate, but a "certified" (I think that's what it's called) one. If you don't have one, contact the state (whichever one you were born in) to get a certified copy.
Do this MONDAY if you can't find an official copy somewhere this weekend.
A certified certificate. :D

I'm thinking $3 or so. It's delicious, but not worth $3 (IMO) We've always had the Premium Pkg so it was free.

Hippies, late 60's to mid 70's & Rock & Roll.
Disco era was more mid 70's.
The 70's party is more of Disco party & I don't recall seeing anyone dressed up but the CD, his/her staff, and the ship's dancers. But hey, go for it.

CB,
2 bottles would probably get the wife and I through the entire cruise. Thanks!
Our ports are Labadee, San Juan, St. Maarten, and St. Kitts. From what I'm reading, there are dozens of great things to see and do. Since this is our first, I'm thinking sight seeing over activities.
Mema,
Royal Promenade. I've made a note. Thanks! And funny you mention gluten-free... I am. I've heard nothing but good things about food on RC and their gluten-free options. Pizza sounds great.
Robyn,
I have! Looking forward to meeting you at the MM.
My I suggest Joyce Prince as a great guide for St.Mareen. We really enjoyed our day. Time for shopping, Maho Beach, and many other great stops. We covered the island had a great local lunch. She knew the time frame for the landing of the big jets and scheduled the stop accordingly. Great day.
We had a great tour last month in San Juan, called Flavors of San Juan. It was a walking tour w/ 5 great restaurants. Hopefully you can get Juan as your guide. He was solid and very historically astute of San Juan.
Google is your friend. Enjoy your first cruise!

Great live report. Job well done. I followed all week and enjoyed it. We did the Martini Class on the Adventure. It was an unplanned & unexpected goodtime that afternoon. I have one question though, why were those drinks just sitting there?! :D Looking forward to your re-cap.

As Bob as posted, Bacchrinas was good to go. On the last night of your cruise, Guest Services will have a handbill about them. It reads, $5 per bag, but when we dropped off our luggage, we were told it was tips only.
May I suggest the Flavors of San Juan. It's most excellent. It's a great walking tour, that makes 5 or 6 stops, 'snacking' along the way, with one stop for lunch. If your lucky, your guide will be Juan. He's probably the best guide on any excursion we had. He has a Masters in History, grew up in Puerto Rico and was rock solid. The tour last a few hours and none of the walking was too steep, difficult etc. SanJuanFoodTours.com
Enjoy your cruise!

The cabin size and layout is the same, concierge and aqua. Concierge has a dedicated concierge, a welcome aboard lunch in the MDR, a private lounge with complimentary continental breakfast on disembarkation day. Etc...you can see the full list on X website. Aqua Class has the special restaurant Blu, access to the Persian garden, relaxation lounge, afternoon delivery of flavored teas, a different type of shower, extra toiletries..(you can check out the whole list of both on the website. On S class ships the concierge, aqua and verandah cabins are the same size. On M class the concierge ND aqua are the same size as each other, but slightly larger than regular verandah .
Thank you for your explanations. Is a C1 cabin considered Concierge?

Chris - Would you mind asking if SABOR guacamole can be purchased at the Schooner Bar during SABOR open hours? I heard they were doing it on Freedom so wondered if it's happening on Liberty.
Thanks
I'm not sure about the guacamole, but we ordered the Cucumber Jalepeno Margaritas 'to go' from Sabor on several different nights while at the Schooner Bar on our Feb '16 Liberty cruise. :D

While what happened with cancelling the drink package and not being able to rebook it at the original price is inexcusable I think there is more to the story about being hung up on. In this day and age of recorded calls I find it very hard to believe that anyone gets hung up on intentionally unless they are being hostile or using profanity towards the customer service agent. I just can't see a rep putting their job at risk over hanging up on someone unless there was a valid reason.
It happens. Don't kid yourself. Telesales jobs are a dime a dozen. Why do you think there is a difference in the service from the ship vs their 800#.

Just read that potentially filets are being removed from Giovani's.???
If true, I am wondering what else, what other decisions are they making that seems a contradiction to a theme of quality!
One other I have read about recently was the pepper grinder. Not sure if they sill utilize it without having to ask in the MDR for salads, soups, etc.
I have always felt that dining was one the the primo aspects of a cruise. MDR has changed over years and IMHO has been somewhat dumbed down to create some separation from speciality restaurants.
Then the fees for upgrading to a speciality dining experience has skyrocketed. Now if true, you can't even get a filet at Giovani's. Is Chops next? :)
I guess I am sorry, but both Royal and Celebrity are courting a demographic with gimmick attractions that should be left on shore and apparently those demographics are not into dining beyond a hamburger or hotdog or pizza.
Guess you have to go where the money is?!
I'm one to believe that more is being added than removed. Especially on the ships where dry dock/refurb has taken place.

I know..just don't want a delivery of luggage at 11pm!
I suggest that you arrive earlier anyway. I've experienced a delayed first day cruise and those that ignored the message got on the ship, those that adhered to it the message didn't get on the ship til 11pm. Us included.

We will be flying to San Juan in January for a cruise and we'd like to bring aboard wine, but we obviously don't want to bring it from home b/c of the flight. Does anybody know where we can get wine in San Juan?
There is a store right inside the port terminal literally 200 feet from the check in counters of RCL. Our friends grabbed a couple of bottles of Kendall Jackson.

We have 7203, our first aft balcony booked for Aug 2017 for our first Alaska Cruise. Pretty excited about both.
-
We been on both and enjoyed each one! We prefer the Liberty though. We were on the Liberty in the Med and the Western Caribbean. Before & after the recent most recent drydock. I imagine a lot would determine if you're flying or driving to port.
And don't believe everything you here and disembarkation in Galveston. Barcelona & San Juan were much longer. While the the drive to the airport is roughly an hour, Galveston was/is a great spot to enjoy a day or two prior to your cruise!
Enjoy your cruise!

OK, so I have to pay $35 to get into Chops and then another $19 for this Dry Aged Steak - and that's on top of what I already paid for food on the cruise. This is a vacation and I do love a really good steak. The question is - is this a really good steak? Is this a fifty dollar steak? If so, you might say I'm "on board" with it!
Each of us have a different value on a $50 bill. My value says the Dry Aged Steak at the cost of $50 is NOT worth it. Your $50 would be better spent at the Chef's Table.

I'd like to add to this a question since the thread is discussing 'linked' dinner guests etc. I have booked a cruise through my TA as part of a 'group' or as she calls it a Group Cruise. Our cruise buddies are joining along but they wish to use their TA as they have over 20 cruises w/ her and feel very comfortable etc. In addition, another couple and our parents wanted to join in on the cruise so we sent them to our TA to get booked, set up etc.
I requested that all of us be seated together, even the couple that booked with their TA. One of the agents for my TA said she could link us altogether but for the couple that has their own TA. This somewhat bothered me as I do believe that this is a doable, at least by RCL standards. Anyway, I sent a nice introduction letter to each TA explaining the situation and requested that if necessary they visit/email each other to accomplish this as they were our TAs. The TA for the couple sent me an email a few days later staing all is good and we are linked. It's been a month now and I have still not heard from my TA.
Is this common place? I'm kinda miffed about it after sending her two addtional bookings. Am I wrong? Out of line?
-
Must say, that took some cojones (to simply take the table).
I agree. But if I had been linked w/ a party of 12 for a year and then 3 days before the cruise, my group was 'unlinked', I could easily see myself doing this! :D And.... Chop! Chop! Wine please!

We are Emerald & we received our invitation to the Top Tier event while on the Adventure a few weeks ago.

Having cruised during previous Presidential elections when Fox was still offering its version of "fair and balanced" news, I can only be grateful that we won't be subjected to its biases this year, though now that Roger Ailes is no longer in charge, their news coverage may have improved.:)
I find your commentary interesting. While on the Adventure a few weeks ago, all we had was CNN. We noticed that the ONLY coverage on the election was everything Trump. All negative. Nothing positive on Hillary. In fact, Hillary was never even mentioned. It was all negative news on Trump. I fond nothing balanced, much less fair.

We will be in the Allure on Election Day and would like to follow live results. Does anyone have thoughts on where I may be able to catch the broadcasts?
Thanks 😊

Just a suggestion. If you want to beat the crowds, the meandering, the waiting in lines etc, take in a great tour called the Flavors of San Juan. It's a great way to see & eat at some of the best spots in San Juan. You'll have plenty of time to get on the ship.
Enjoy your cruise!
