  1. We've booked the Millennium for Aug 2017. A C1 Aft cabin. We believe we have a good cabin at a decent price. This is our first cruise w/ Celebrity & as a result, we are a bit confused on what is considered a 'perk' for a C1 cabin. Even after reading & following some threads & posts. From the Blu restaurant to the Luminea bar.... so can someone help a fellow cruiser out and in simple terms explain where we can go eat & drink and where can't go eat & drink?

    Thank you in advance!

  2. Hi

Sailing out on the Equinox in January. Looking for some suggestions for Martinis. I don't like dry Martinis, I like sweet, fresh, or fruity. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Just want to know what I should ask the bartender for.

    Thanks again !!!

Try a cucumber/basil leaf... and if you like a bit of spice, have him rim it w/ chili pepper. Mmmm...Mmmm...Good. :D

  3. I have a guy I work with who is known to be a bit of a bs'er, so I'm not sure if this is true or not. He was on the Freedom of few weeks ago and claims he scammed a free drink package. He said he bought one in his name and peeled off the sticker and put it on his wife's key card, then he reported his card lost. Like I said he is usually full of it, so I don't know if it is true or even possible since I have not sailed RCI in over 6 years and I don't know what the sticker even looks like. The worse thing about this is he was bragging about stealing something. I know people are getting away with sharing, but this is a whole new level. Does anyone know anyone who has been caught sharing and what is the penalty? Please tell me this is not even possible, so I can call this guy out.

I say... not possible. RCL is not that stupid. The card is 'swiped'. As such, it is linked to an account that is either supported via a credit card and/or cash. Either way, each and every charge, be it a coffee, a purchase from a store front, or a drink will show up on the itemized bill. This charge is supported w/ date, time, description, etc. The charges for every drink his wife ordered would have been logged onto his account. He either paid for it with or without a package, or he's BSing you and others.

  4. Last time we went Barachina's where they check luggage for free. No requirement to eat there but we did have lunch there before heading to the airport. Don't recall any problem getting a cab though I seem to remember saying there is a taxi stand on the corner. There is/was a free trolley that circled old San Juan, making various stops. You should be able to find the route online. Enjoy.

Just off the Adventure two weeks ago. I stumbled across a Barachina's handbill/flyer at guest service the day before we disembarked. The flyer read $5 / bag. So that's where we headed to. When we arrived, we were told it was no fee but 'tips only' . We left them there all day and left them $3/bag when we picked them up.

  5. Welcome to Cruise Critic. The Liberty is a great ship. Like others have recommended, attempt to get on the ship as early as you can. One of the first things we do is to go visit the dining room assigned. The maitre'd will be there at their podium to confirm your time & table. And yes, you can go look at your assigned table. If you don't like it, you can request a different spot. We really attempt to avoid the crowds at the Windjammer by eating a hearty breakfast & then grab a quick sandwich at Cafe Promenade. We explore the ship a bit as well. I also recommend that you pack a 'carry on' for the ship. Perhaps a swimsuit and/or anything else that you think you might need until your luggage arrives.

As others have suggested, pack your standard meds, Tylenol, Cold/Flu, basically anything that you think you might need. The wife literally packs a small medicine bag! Also, be careful with power strips. They can/will be confiscated. We purchased via amazon a Belkin power supply. It works great.

My last suggestion is to do anything & everything you can to avoid Guest Services on day one. It's busy. We also attempt to have all of excursions booked in advance to avoid the lines etc.

    Enjoy your first cruise!

  6. Was that your waiter and assist. waiter?

We had MTD and as such we were sat at table 503 each night. We had reservations for 6:45 each night but Wed when we ate in Aruba and Friday when we enjoyed Gionvannis. Royal & Royal was our Waiter and Asst Waiter. They were lifelong friends from a small village in India. They were really a great 'team'. Both of their names were Royal, which seemed very odd but they provided wonderful service.

  7. Which ports did you go to? Any adventures there?

We stopped at St.Thomas, St.Kitts, Aruba, & Curacao. Matthew was upgraded to a hurricane on the Thursday we landed in San Juan. It was about 150 miles due south. He got pretty close to Curacao, so close that we had heard that the port completely boarded up. But fortunately it was missed. And the port & island was beautiful. But the beaches were a mess in Aruba. Sea weed and debris everywhere. We were fortunate in that we booked a land based excursion as many of the operators of snorkeling etc cancelled. We did the Custom Trikes and had a blast covering 3 1/2 hrs all over Aruba. We also enjoyed a wonderful steak dinner in Aruba at a spot called Los Gauchos. Great place! (I suggest reservations).

We had a wonderful week and hope you do the same!

  8. out of the six RCL cruises, the service & staff is the best we've experienced. From Guest Services, MDR, Cabin Attendent, and the entire crew at the Champagne Bar. Just really, really good.

If you have any questions regarding the Adventure, I'll try to answer. But you can't go wrong by requesting Royal & Royal in the deck 5 MDR. Yes I know that their names are strange, but that is their names!

Visiting the Champagne Bar and meeting the staff is an absolute must. It starts with the leadership of the bar mgr and mixologist, Virginia.

I only have one complaint w/ the service rendered and that was in medical. This service wasn't rendered to my wife or me & until such time as I visit w/ our friends, I will remain quite on this complaint but I couldn't believe what I saw & witnessed.

If you have questions on the cruise itself, ask away. I'll try to answer!

  9. While we are experienced cruisers, this is our first on Royal Caribbean.

As you can see from my handle, I am a big time NY Giants football fan. We are on the Grandeur, Dec 10-22. There will be 2 Sundays when I would like to watch my Giants. Are these games on TV on the ship, like in the Sports bar?

    Cheers

    Len

The late game on Sundays, Sunday Nights, Monday Nights , & Thursdays Nights all on the big screen poolside, as well as your cabin, and in addition you'll be able to view them in the Cigar Bar. On last week's cruise, the sports bar showed the same.

  10. Same here! September/October has become our favorite time of the year to cruise.

Have a great time on Adventure! :)

Thank You! Living in Houston, for us Cruising the summer months in the southern ports for me is just too hot & humid. We love the fall months. But each has their on desires & pleasures. I'm just not sure why some just don't understand this. When & where others take a cruise is meaningless to us, & then to think their opinions matter is what I identify as an imature cruiser. I'm getting on a ship tomorrow & im happy! That's really all that matters!

  11. So far your tempting of fate has been fortunate.

While you may still see some signs of Matthew...bump waters and some wind...you likely will escape and direct weather impact. That said, Barbados has areas without power, as does St. Maarten.

Enjoy your Adventure of the Seas southern Caribbean cruise - we'e done it 3 times and its obviously a favorite here. Still, we don't choose to risk having it cancelled and avoid hurricane season for that reason.

Cool story... but your schedule of cruising doesn't mean much to me. There is no right or wrong regarding cruise schedules. I personally would not cruise out of Vancouver in Sept as I feel it's too chili. But that doesn't make it wrong.
