  1. I thought they were not professional, also why did it take 6 hours from the time a gave them my bags till be called and bag was unlocked they could have checked to see it was not a banned item. my main complaint was I wanted a name on who held my bag and nobody would give me a name. There should be a RCCL officer there and there was not, also they should carry the bag to your suite if its there fault, would not have compainled if it was my fault.

I do agree with this. On one cruise, we had a bag that was NEVER delivered. No one called us into the naughty room, the suitcase was just not delievered. We contacted Guest Service several times, but still no show. So we just went to bed thinking that eventually it would be delivered over night, but it wasn't. I wake up, go to Guest Services and they sent me to security (naughty room). Keep in mind this was at 6am on the first morning of the cruise. Security tells me they do not havr my luggage. So back to GS. Well guess what, for some reason, the suitcase was sitting right behind the front counter door. Frustrated as all hell, I just grabbed it and wheeled it up myself instead of requesting someone to deliver it. We still have absolutely no clue as to why the suitcase was not delivered and sitting at guest Services. Nothing was missing.

  2. If I am reading this right it would cost 759.92 for both of you to buy the deluxe and you both got the premium with the BOGO50 for 606. So a much better price AND you will automatically be upgraded on the ship to the deluxe package options. :)

OHHH Edited to say I get it now ....if the prices had been this WITH the discount both packages would have cost 570 not 606. Math is not my strong suit.

Correct. Oddly enough, we wanted the Ultimate Pkg but the BOGO50 when I booked the cruise (March 2015) did not offer any other packages but the Premium. (so I was told). Fast forward to today, and it appears that we both will get the the Ultimate Pkg (now Deluxe) but paid about $30 more for them than today's pricing. But we're good! ... and happy!

  3. Our next cruise is in three weeks.

Deluxe Pkg is now being offered @ 20% off

    $46 / day

    $322 / 7 days

    plus

    $57.96 gratuities/ 7 days

    Total $379.96

Here's my problem, we booked under BOGO50

my Premium pkg was $404 gratuities included

DW's Premium Pkg was $202 gratuities included

So it's cheaper than what we initially paid and it's a better pkg, But since our packages were purchased under BOGO50, I can't cancel & repurchase to get the better pricing & the better package. I was told I have to 'upgrade' while on the ship but the 20% online discount most likely will not be offered.

OK... I just couldn't sit w/ the answer that was given, so I called the Resolutions Dept. Here's what's up. Those that have previously purchased & paid for a Premum Pkg, will automatically be upgraded to the new Deluxe Pkg. when you board. So I was told anyway. I'm taking my notes, original booking confirmation & of course the Resolutions Dept's employees name.

I'll post a follow up as our cruise is in three weeks!

  5. A fact: Drink packages are to be used for drinks for the owner of the package and no one else. If Celebrity had any guts, the bartender should be fired and your package should be revoked. It's apparent that the guy losing his job would have no affect on you, you got what you wanted, to impress everybody by being a big shot. If you can't afford the drinks, stealing isn't the answer, maybe you should stay home.

    Holier than thou

Speaking of losing their jobs, tell us what bartender, when it happened, what ship, what sail date you personally know that has been fired. You can't, because you don't know. You THINK you know, but you don't. Just like you think you know that I steal. You don't know that either. Ignorance is bliss.

    Live & let die.

  6. Most people who steal, will justify the reason. Most people on the board, justify it because it is expensive. Some justify it because they didn't like the drink, but it was the wife's favorite. Others justify it because the cruise line charged them for laundry service. You name it, it is used to justify it. But at the end of the day, it is still theft. Ask the kid why they stole the piece of candy. They will give you an answer. It could be something easy like, I had no money. Or maybe something really funny like, my girlfriend wanted it. Does it matter what the justification is? No. Because it is and will be theft. So if you handle yourself as a "gentleman" while stealing, it's ok?

So shoot me. Do you think I give a flip? The fact is I have cruised 5 or 6 times and each time I've purchased two packages. One for me & one for the DW. You didn't read this, if you did you don't comprehend well. I've also bought a drink for a cruiser or two while the bartender knows this. And even heard it said, "Let me get this round". It's none of your business Mr./Mrs HolierThanThou how & who I buy I drink for. If my bartender understands this, I'm good. If you don't, I don't care. For in my world what I'm doing isn't theft. If you think it is,then that's on you for being so closed minded that you can't be of reasonable mind to comprehend. When you're on your next cruise, just cruise. Chill and enjoy it laying no attempts of failed guilt trips on others. :D

  7. I've never been in a DL and only in the CL once as an invited guest by the Concierge, but I have read so many threads/posts that these places are so packed that many Diamonds are required to use an 'overflow' area. Perhaps if the kids were removed in these situations, it would help and when the crowds aren't around, the kids are permitted.

Simply put, while it's nice to spend time w/ the kids or grandkids...

LOUNGES are for adult activities & adults should have the priority of availability before kids.

  8. and it starts....

Well the post does have some merit. We booked Adventure under the BOGO50 promotion that included buy one Premium pkg / get one half off. As strange as it is/was even the day it was booked, RCL would not allow one packages to be the Ultimate. In fact, the promo did not, would not, could not include the Ultimate pkg at all. So we both ended up w/ the Premium pkgs. We've tried a few times to upgrade and even called the resolutions dept. But we keep being told we'll have to upgrade while on board as their 'system' doesn't allow etc.

Now w/ these changes, there's no telling what we will have to do or pay.

  9. I am going to bet that you have never been on a cruise where this is a problem for you to say that.

We've been on over 20 Celebrity cruises. The vast majority (especially in years past) I would have said exactly what you said.

However, there have been a couple, which some have related above, that it is a real problem. Have you come out of the Celebrity theater when 6 or 7 salespeople are waiting for you, basically in both aisles, huckstering their goods? Honestly, they make the photographers on the gangway look like total rank amateurs. You either alter your path (they won't move) or listen to their spiel. Have you been at the Elite Captains Club evening event, in mid-conversation, when you are interrupted for a sales pitch for a Specialty Restaurant?

I really do think that it has to do with the quality--and ability--of the marketing manager onboard. A capable one, who can motivate the troops, no problem. A ham-handed one, who has the employees cowering in fear (and we've had more than one that has told us that happened), and you get the total disregard for the pax experience. There, it is all about the numbers, not satisfaction of the guest.

Five or Twnty Five, it simply doesn't matter. The ships hawk their goods & services. I literally smile, nod and keep walking. The poster that stated earlier, "No Thank You. Can you get me a cup of coffee?" This poster gets it and knows how to handle it.

  10. Celebrity is running a new promotion next week which is called Two if by Sea sale for the month of September. I found this yesterday when googling Celebrity promotions. I am not a travel agent, just checking on prices for all of our upcoming bookings.

It has $25 dollar deposits from Sept 1-5 2016, then reduced deposits for the rest of September, and it is good on 4 night sailings and longer sailings from December 1, 2016-April 30, 2018, and is for oceanview and higher cabins and includes 1 of the 4 perks and must be a new booking made during the time period. Suites get all four perks and an upgrade to the premium beverage package. The price for the first person is full fare, the second person is half off. Excludes the transatlantics, transpacifics, repositioning Galapagos, Alaska cruisetours, and Celebrity Explorations, and can't be combined with any other promotion such as resident, senior, interline, exciting deals etc.

We have four sailings that would be in the time frame for the promotion. I repriced all of them with the new increased rates showing on Celebrity's website today and the half off for the second person over what we deposited the cabins for , and the base prices are exactly the same for three of our cruises with this promotion, and the only decrease was in a European sailing we have next year.

It may be that your travel agent is allowed to add more perks for a Labor Day sale next week, and I will recheck the prices on September the 1st for all of our cruises.

I hope it works out for others in getting a discount on their already booked cruises. I would really like it if Celebrity published a no perks base fare, but probably wishful thinking on my part.

Even w/ this new promo, our Alaskan Cruise on Millie, Aug 2017 is up $2200 since March when we booked it. Wowza.

  11. You can dispute a charge, but if you are charged for theft of an item, you won't win. Your previous post indicated that you are not sure what the definition of theft is. If you buy an ice cream cone and share it, it is "sharing" because you bought one cone. The contract for the drink package is that only the person that purchases it can use it. So it is not "sharing" but now is theft of product. Once it reaches $300, it becomes a felony. So, to dispute the charge card, and you would win, than you can have a felony theft charge against you.

So when you dispute the charge, what do you say? I was caught stealing, and they charged the theft charges to my card? So unfair!

I stand by my comments. We can go back & forth on this and talk past one another. Besides, what I offer and who I order it for is between myself and my bartender. If you don't think a bartender will not serve you two drinks on one sea pass bev pkg, you would be wrong... period. It's been done on every cruise I've been on. It all depends on how you handle yourself.

  12. Now sailing on one of the Royal ships in the Med, they say that RCCL changed their policy on allowing children under 18 in the Diamond Lounge as long as they are with an adult. Maybe we've missed something. In the concierge lounge the same, first night there were more children than adults😉

Carry a wooden spoon and bang it on a chair/table when they get near you. :D

  13. Just a quick note of thanks for sharing your Alaskan Cruise w/ us. This time next year we will be on Celebrity's Millennium w/ this same itenary, so we learned quite a bit. Like you, I'm hesistant about an Alaskan Cruise but the wife really wants to do one and she deserves everything that I can give her. So Alaska here we come! Your pictures were amazing and thanks again for allowing us to tag along through the power of the web.

Enjoy any & all of your future cruises!

  14. I have no idea what they ended up doing. We saw them a few times the last few days of the cruise but steered clear. The were wanting everyone within earshot to sympathize and I just could not. Even if they refunded the package I have a feeling their drink costs when added up to be charged individually were well above the cost of even 2 packages.

We always buy two packages - so nice to pre-pay and not have to worry about it at the end of the cruise. I also like the fact that I can try new drinks and if I don't like it I don't have to finish it.

People who share are cheating and the end result just may be that RCL goes back to requiring all cabin mates to have a package. That never bothered us because we always buy it for both of us.

We do as well. In fact, we've never cruised w/o two drink pkgs. :D
