  1. Unfortunately the nc does not own the oc river cruise ships. Those would have been a spectacular fit with the a & k product. Many of their luxury tours include river cruises and they lease luxury river boats. A great opportunity to cross market. I don’t see the relevance of the ocean ships for cross marketing in the other direction
  2. I would be surprised. But you never know.
  3. Cross marketing? I get emails all the time from a&k. Not one of them mentions crystal
  4. I’ve not had that experience on the luxury lines and I’ve sailed them all many times. Most passengers are well traveled, civil and keep to themselves. im waiting for my trusted ta to report on explora. My cruise is far enough out that I can cancel and book something else. The idea of a lot of small children is not one that appeals to us. We all have our priorities when choosing a cruise line
  5. Of course. Obnoxious adults can be on board. Not uncommon. But if I can avoid a cruise with small children I increase my odds of a peaceful cruise. Never a guarantee. Odds are better on the luxury lines.
  6. I have not seen any difference. On seabourn now. Plenty of caviar flowing. Entertainment fabulous. Food better than ever. Service superb
  7. Never. Not luxury. i do fine on regent silversea and seabourn a small child here and there easy to avoid lol
  8. The financials of a & k are irrelevant to the financial stability of the new venture. A & k will bring experience but not money. Business 101.
  9. Smart. No problem getting cost transferred. It becomes refundable obc
  10. There was never an organized kids program when I was on crystal. I imagine they did something for Alaska and holiday sailings. I recall a small play area somewhere that was always empty. Unlike explora, crystal never encouraged children as a general rule. Nor does regent seabourn or silversea this will be a deterrent to many luxury cruisers. Most, not all, choose luxury lines not just for the service and amenities, but also to avoid sailing with small children choice is good
  11. Teenagers are not a concern they can be taught proper behavior I was not referring to teens toddlers and infants are different often parents cannot or will not control them behavior that I find annoying or a nuisance they think is cute i don’t want to be on vacation with small children that’s my choice i know how to avoid it if that means cancelling my explora cruise I will not shed a tear i sail regularly on the other luxury lines. Currently on seabourn. One small child. That’s plenty.
  12. On seabourn now 5th cruise no emails at all lol

Exactly. When I was younger and less well travelled seeing as much as I could at every stop was the priority. Now I am happy to survive a 4 hour private tour. We almost never book a cruise without sea days. This one had such an irresistible itinerary that we booked anyway. I want to play bridge attend good lectures and see good shows. That’s what sea days offer. At some ports we might stay on the ship we were docked next to one of the virgin ships the other day. Annoying rock music blasting from top deck. I’m sure their younger crowd loves it. We can’t stand the racket

We were a group of friends who cruised together )we met on Oceania) great food. Great port intensive itineraries. Up early every day for private tours. We did not care about entertainment then. now we are older. Sea days appealing. Lectures and entertainment more important. We can stay up late and sleep in. No more 8 hour tours only entertainment was awful. Oceania cruises were fine oceania now however has declined. Ask Paul mco who is with us on seabourn now and recently took his free cruise (number 21). Btw paul never goes to a show on any ship. Lol btw. Entertainment on seabourn is fabulous. Never used to be. This is a cruise without sea days (21 days ) and we will not miss a show. Producer is belinda king enterprises. Wow I will add this is 21 days of cruising small islands in Greece and Turkey. Today we are in kas.yesterday Bodrum. Tomorrow paphos. itinerary is off the charts fabulous. Only seabourn does it. Not same old same old ports

15 cruises on Oceania. Imo consistently awful 😞 in fact that’s why we were wowed on oc. entertainment i could have lived without the ventriloquist but the rest was good to great
  16. We are on seabourn now. Exactly what we did
  17. Disney has adults only areas I am told
  18. No kids program on old crystal on any cruise I was on. Perhaps on some Alaska cruises. I’ve sailed regent. No kids program. Again maybe Alaska. I would never have booked a line with a kids program it’s not what we want. My ta the is on one of the first explora cruises. He’s going to report back. I have plenty of time to switch to a different cruise on a different line

That’s because entertainment on Oceania is utterly forgettable. Awful is a good adjective
  20. Makes me think I might cancel. I don’t want to be on a child friendly ship. We only sail luxury lines with no children’s programs. Our preference. Others enjoy children on a ship. I had no idea this was part of the plan. rethinking my booking personally I think a true luxury line with a children’s program is a contradiction in terms.
  21. No but I have spoken to my travel agent who knows what is going on
  22. It’s the “circumstances” that are the issue. I do not know which cabins or cruises you booked but you really don’t get the big picture from your personal bookings. Eg a holiday cruise in a cp might be hard to book but that’s not evidence of robust bookings overall. Every cruise and cabin type will be different I keep getting emails urging us to book, including inaugurals. Not one of my many cruising friends, all of whom were oc regulars, has booked on nc. Some were owed money but not all
  23. It was the carpets and pottery that did us in as Paul just posted. No fakes though
