  1. Too bad we can’t sell them at deeply discounted rate. Win win i have 5 discounts worth 6000+ assuming cruise costs 30k. I won’t be using them I wouid be delighted to sell each for 1000. Buyer gets 5000 off the cruise net. Better than nothing that should be part of the program but of course it won’t. They want the customers they alienated back, not those who intend to cruise crystal anywAy alas
  2. My friend also got less than requested i cannot explain why I got full amount and others did not Doesn’t do me a bit of good
  3. Informing me the trustee approved and confirmed my 33,000 loss and I was free to apply it to 5 crystal cruises.
  4. Yes. And they are more likely to deny it if they have a cozy relationship with the cruise line against which you are making a claim
  5. Default issue aside, there is an inherent conflict of interest if the insurance company partnered with the cruise line gets involved in a dispute how hard will they fight for you when the cruise line is giving them access to its passengers and all that business bad idea you want an insurance company that is not affiliated with the cruise line
  6. You are so right. Buying from the cruise line or the cruise line's insurance partner is not a good idea. Steve is my go to person as well.
  7. There is a theory that you should never buy insurance from the cruise line. I agree if there is a dispute will they be loyal to you or the cruise line (their “partner”) that gives them a ton of business?
  8. You lose money when a cruise is overpriced and the itinerary is utterly unappealing, particularly when there are other cruises available that really interest you you also lose time. More valuable than money now
  9. Calculation: how much money do I have to lose to get my money back? Insane
  10. You showed interest. The call makes sense as a follow up. standard practice What nc is doing is different
  11. Just to add some insight The look back period is controlled by VISA or MASTERCARD So whatever VISA or MC you have, they set the policy -- does not matter who issued the card. Amex is different because they do not have the same strict look back period. Older charges were honored. Regardless, I'd rather get triple points on my Sapphire Reserve for travel as it gets me many free flights and travel insurance. Gave up my Amex Platinum long ago. I do not expect to face another disaster like the one with Crystal going forward.
  12. I, too, got immediate refund from my Chase Sapphire Reserve card for any charge within the allowed time period. Tripacian -- we met long ago on an Oceania crossing. Paul MCO and I will be on Seabourn Encore with you in a month!
  13. I was not referring to emails "That is why they are calling people to encourage them to book." I was referring to personal phone calls That is not common in the industry and would not be done if bookings were robust.
  14. That is why they are calling people to encourage them to book. That is why they suddenly made the offer to help those who lost money recoup it over 5 cruises -- significantly, they waited to make the offer when they were obligated to do nothing. I and others in the industry believe it was made in response to less than expected bookings. No one I know who lost money is jumping on the offer. Personally, I do not think they are off to a good start. Maybe the product will be so good that reports (from objective cruisers) will induce people to book.
  15. Many are not selling. They lost a huge number of Crystal loyalists who lost money.
  16. Boy was i wrong. I stated that I thought MOST cruisers would be honest and not try to claim monies that they had already received either through credit cards or insurance. I am disgusted by this.
  17. I am not unsympathetic -- as I said my husband has mobility issues and we travel despite the issues. Not everything goes perfectly although I really try to avoid any surprises. You cannot let the disappointment control you -- if you do, they win. Things like this are bound to happen unfortunately. Plan your next cruise and enjoy it.
  18. I received the same email today. My TA has received in excess of 100 of them regarding his former Crystal clients.
  19. True -- in the case of my recent Regent b2b, the bridge instructor did not get on board until the crossing. I have no idea how Crystal will handle it. If I recall, every one of my Crystal cruises had enough sea days for bridge.
  20. I choose all cruises for sea days. LOL I want to play bridge. Most recently on a Regent b2b the first leg with 1 sea day had no bridge program. The second leg, a crossing with many sea days, had bridge for the 10 days we were at sea.
  21. I agree -- sea days lessons in the am and sanctioned game in the pm. Standard for all lines, including Crystal. Why would there be a bridge instructor on a cruise without at least several sea days if there is no program on those days? No lessons and no sanctioned game. I have never seen that on any line.
