  1. But not irrelevant to Crystal. They want to sail with full ships and be profitable
  2. Fabulous. I hope you have a great time. I bet you will meet many people and have plenty of company. I applaud your courage
  3. That really surprises me. Although Seabourn is not my go-to cruise line, I was always impressed with all the activities they had for solo cruisers. They are always inviting cruisers to dine with staff. In the past, we have found Seabourn service equal to other luxury lines (other than the lack of butlers - which for us is a service issue). We are boarding Seabourn again on the 30th so we will see if there has been a decline in service since our last Seabourn cruise which was a few years back. Nancygp has been on Seabourn a few times recently and she has given the line high praise.
  4. Might be one reason bookings are not robust
  5. Jack Anderson is taking a leave of absence from Crystal President Jack Anderson is taking a leave of absence from Crystal to deal with personal matters. Full article
  6. I never noticed it --I only would have looked at Seabourn and Silversea. It is a beautiful place
  7. Lots of Brits in Sharm el Sheik - I recall -- popular vacation spot
  8. Understood -- only a small percentage of cruisers are on CC and only a small percentage of those post on roll calls. Just odd that no one started any roll call given all the excitement about the restart.
  9. FYI. Fabulous place. We stayed there for several days at the end of 3 week trip to Egypt. I’ve never seen it on a cruise itinerary
  10. I would think there would be roll calls for the inaugural NC cruises where folks are celebrating the fact that the line is sailing again! Another reason it's strange.
  11. One more point. One of the reason I like the roll calls is I often find people I’ve sailed with before are on a cruise I have booked. Over the years we’ve all met a lot of great people cruising ( ok some not so great lol) and it’s nice to know you will see them again.
  12. The main purpose of roll calls was to organize private shore excursions or sometimes set up a CC meet & Greet (no more). With so many lines including excursions, that motivation has diminished. My Regent roll calls are the most active (having nothing to do with excursions). Silversea is less active but they do exist. Still -- the fact that none of the early NC cruises has a roll call does strike me as odd. Whenever I book a new cruise I start a roll call if there isn't one. Force of habit, since I was the always the one organizing the private tours. Most of the time now we sail with friends and just arrange our own tours for ourselves.
  13. Great. Sometimes there are cancellations. Check when you board or at date for final payment.
  14. Probably because they have been available for booking for quite some time. I have a cruise in mid 2024 where cooking classes are now posted for booking. There is no rule about when they become available.
  15. I have taken cooking classes all over the world and also on Oceania, Silversea and Regent. The teaching facility is excellent. How good the classes will be will depend on the chef instructor. On my Splendor cruise the instructor was fantastic. I learned a few things I did not know and even bought a gadget on Amazon that I did not own. For future reference, these classes fill up fast. They are almost impossible to book once on board. You need to monitor your account to see when they appear for booking so you can get what you want.
  16. Quick dress code question. We haven’t been on seabourn in quite a while. I know they relaxed the dress code for 2023. Are dressy collared polos ok for men?
  17. I think Seabourn has the best itineraries of all the luxury lines. Don't know why other lines cannot do the same.
  18. I would say the Titanic was the transatlantic from hell. Everything else pales by comparison
  19. If you have refundable OBC (eg from a TA), does Seabourn refund it to you at the end of the cruise? Cash?
