  1. Larry -- we have also sailed on both size Seabourn ships. Only difference we see is 450 passengers vs 600. The small size is wonderful -- not much difference otherwise. I am pleased to hear Nancy's report on entertainment and enrichment
  2. Nancy - which ship are you on? We board Encore on 30th?
  3. There are many threads on the luxury line boards asking this question. The answers vary. For us, the key benefit is having someone there for us at a moment’s notice to respond to our needs and wants. It’s as simple as that.
  4. Seabourn has always been our last choice for luxury lines. No butlers. Food not always to our liking. But service is great as is unlimited caviar. What sets seabourn apart is their itineraries. They go places no one else goes. Our upcoming cruise to the turquoise coast (one of the few places we have never cruised to) is an example. It’s a trade off. Plus we are travelling with Paul mco and Moggyhill. Just sailing with them anywhere is so much fun
  5. When will they play bridge -- at night? I certainly would not want to miss those ports. Seems an odd itinerary for a bridge cruise
  6. Money is a means to an end. It is not the end itself. My father, who was not a wealthy man at all (he never even owned his own home), always told me the "money is freedom." In this case, it is the freedom to choose between spending a bundle to sail on an unknown with a less than desirable itinerary to get some money back or going on a cruise I really want to go on and forget the refund.
  7. I would have to spend at least 30000 to get 6000 back (1/5 of total loss) and I usually spend more than that per cruise. I'd be spending around 40k on a cruise line I know nothing about (will not have sailed yet) and an itinerary that does not interest me. Makes no sense to me overall. I have some amazing cruises booked going forward -- itineraries I really want to do. I have come to terms with the loss.
  8. I wonder what percentage of those cruisers who lost money are actually taking advantage of the program. Of course, if you were booking crystal anyway it’s a no brainer and an unexpected gift among my cruising group no one is using the vouchers. The math doesn’t work. 5 cruises doesn’t work. Other luxury lines are calling it is clear nc did this to get back some of the loyal oc cruisers who lost money and thereby increase bookings. Wonder if it’s working as intended
  9. With Signature there is usually a rep on board (who does nothing at all but gets a free cruise) and holds a cocktail party (no one I know has ever gone). There is small additional on board credit associated with with the arrangement - I think $100 pp. Both Virtuoso and Signature have relationships with many cruise lines. My upcoming Seabourn cruise is a Signature event. In the end, it means very little.
  10. Did you try the grandma cake in seabourn square? My favorite
  11. That was not our experience at all On one Seabourn cruise our stateroom attendant was so bad (and impossible to find) that the head of housekeeping took over servicing our suite. We have had some of the best butlers ever on Silversea.
  12. I don’t want to cruise without a butler. One of the reasons seabourn is my last choice for a luxury cruise is there are no butlers. Seabourn regulars told me no problem. Stateroom attendants do the same thing. Not even close
  13. Completely disagree I spent a month in tuscany and went to cooking school in italy
  14. Somebody posted that the ice cream place would again have Ben and Jerry’s I wasn’t referring to the availability of gelato in a restaurant. I was referring to the silversea ice cream place being a gelato place.
  15. Surprised the new Italian owner is not bringing on authentic gelato. the gelato on Silversea is as good as anything in Italy
  16. Still doesn’t have comfy chairs. But at least it has a view
  17. Just got email from a&k announcing the relationship with crystal 500 as you wish obc to anyone who books by May
  18. Yes. I also need to be cruising on crystal highly unlikely i am fully booked through the end of 2025 not planning to cancel anything for the itineraries offered I have great cruises booked the amount I would have to spend on crystal to get my money back is not worth it. I would be spending 150 k plus on cruises I don’t want to take. Each cruise would be over 30k as we like long itineraries and larger suites just not a good plan
