Thank you all for your comments. I contacted Manulife before posting on CC (both directly through CoverMe and through Costco). They both told me covid is not an eligible cancellation reason (however it is covered through emergency medical while on the trip). A few weeks ago (I can't remember the date), I am pretty sure Manulife did tell me it was covered - so this could be new, or the agents yesterday were in error ? I will call again in a few days and see π

I always purchase out of country medical and trip cancellation insurance. I have 2 cruises booked in a suite with Celebrity in 2024, so non-refundable portion after final payment is significant. What happens if we contract covid immediately prior to departure and can't travel? Manulife insurance will not cover covid as an eligible reason for trip cancellation (since covid is a known and not unforeseen). Does any insurance company still offer covid-related reasons for cancellation prior to departure? Is my only option to purchase the Celebrity Cruise Protection to have the cancel for any reason clause (50% of non-refundable portion will be paid out)? -- even still, this is only if you cancel 14 days out I think? Any insight/assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I had a similar story flying from Canada to US for my first cruise. Connection was through Atlanta. Flight arrived late in Atlanta due to a late departure and I had to run faster than I ever have in my life to the connection gate. I was out of breath and coughing almost the whole flight to FLL π. I felt so bad for the people seated near me and explained why I was coughing and that I wasn't sick! Being an inexperienced cruiser, I booked travel for the same day as the cruise embarkation. Never Again - I always fly in at least one day prior now - lesson learned and luckily I didn't miss my cruise π.

@PatandStu although November most likely won't be a problem for weather, keep in mind that it could be. If the Ottawa to Toronto flight is late leaving Ottawa, this could cause you trouble with only a 90 minutes layover....

Using FCC to pay for cruise and applying price reductions
Shadow9612 replied to Dreamcruise27's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Ahhh, my apologies. Now I understand. Good thinking! Enjoy your cruise π -
Just curious if you compared this coverage to the "Manulife Cover Me" plan? Trying to understand the difference between the "Cover me" vs. big box store version through Manulife...

Using FCC to pay for cruise and applying price reductions
Shadow9612 replied to Dreamcruise27's topic in Celebrity Cruises
I may be misunderstanding, but wouldn't you want to call now and take advantage of any current price reduction in case the prices go back up in the future? -
I also don't understand it.... How does overbooking happen when cabins are assigned at booking time (except guaranteed cabins?)

Were you able to remain in your original stateroom during the quarantine period? May I ask which ship? Thank you and I hope you are both feeling better.

How do promotional codes just "fall off" a reservation? -

My vote is for the Constellation for the reasons highlighted by others... Enjoy whichever you decide! -

Goodbye Mr Chemmo but the heart will go onβ¦.

My deepest sympathies to you and your family. I have always appreciated your CC posts and have learned so much from you both. May wonderful memories bring you comfort during this difficult time. -
Agreed. We use room service for breakfast on days we have early morning excursions (to save time). I'll be unhappy with the $10 surcharge but wouldn't have known if cruise fare was $30 higher (eg 3 excursions). A benefit for booking excursions should be room service fees are waived on excursion days! It seems Celebrity is cost cutting but cruise rates are also still going up. I'd rather just pay more up front for the cruise than feel nickel & dimed.

Great review - thank you. I've been on the Silhouette (my favourite Ship) but not yet an E class....

Thanks @Jim_Iain for this link. Just curious, does anyone know why the Infinity is scheduled for a reno in January 2024, only two years since its last reno in January 2022 (or is this a misprint)?

I can confirm a similar experience. @zitsky, Just remember to ask for "tomorrow's" menu before you leave at night.
