  1. I do love that ship. Thanks for all your wonderful photos and postings!
  2. I like to get jazzed up and enjoy the pizazz. On very long cruises, I bring a few very formal things. Shorter cruises, not so much.
  3. Maybe forever. People are still getting sick from covid. They want to protect their staff, as well.
  4. This subject is ever evolving. The anti-vaccination crowd is rejoicing. I'd still rather get on a ship with people who got the vaccine, but every time I go to the market the risk is the same. I'd just really rather not miss ports and have to face quarantine. There are those on these boards who say to go elsewhere for your vacation, but why should I? I expect the cruiseline to take every precaution to keep guests safe. Ok, flame me again, but that's what I think.
  5. I always said I'd tile the bathroom. Didn't happen. Some people do tile a coffee table and so on. I am not as inventive. I'll bet you would get alot of responses if you started a thread, lol.
  6. Boy, we miss the Atlantic Adventures where you went transatlantic both ways! Fabulous cruises...long and elegant. We'd see some familiar faces on them, and developed friendships with them. This was back in the day of the Maasdam and Veendam. Wishing they still had those. I'd sign up in a New York minute!
  7. This is rare. I love the laundry service and have never had a blip. It allows me to pack lightly and they do a better job than I ever do at home. Nothing I own is irreplaceable, and as it is, I have zero worries about laundry. I throw absolutely everything in the bag....no hand washing for me. Lazy beans here.
  8. Yes. Half the time, I have no knowledge of the luncheons which is weird but I get my tiles at Guest Services.
  9. This thread has become tedious. The so-called "experts" pontificating about "stomping your feet" and so on are very tiring.
  10. When you said, "goes to show", it did sound as if you were making an assumption since he got covid after 4 shots. I may have misunderstood you.
  11. Right, but with his advanced age, he might have been deathly ill if not for the vaccinations. No need to make light of this fact.
  12. There appears to be no end to covid. The so-called "experts" have no idea when it will end, either. So, eliminating the requirement is risky. To predict a date is pure speculation.
  13. Well, since the US government has been requiring many workers to be vaccinated, yet the country is allowing millions to come in unvaccinated, I suppose the cruise industry is prepared to follow suit. This just allows more infection and serious disruptions, so I cannot, for the life of me, imagine why the cruise industry chooses to go down that path. It will cause me to rethink my future cruises. I'm not willing to pay big bucks to miss ports and spend time in quarantine because others chose not to get the shots.
  14. These tipping threads have been around forever. We keep things in place and give extra too. Last cruise I was on, I won some money in the slot machine and gave it all to crew. I usually don't gamble but this was fun to do.
  15. I use it and like the smell. I usually pack lightly so this helps. For me, it's nice to do without packing the shampoo and conditioner and soap. On a long cruise, like Europe, I do buy some heavier moisturizer in their local pharmacies. They usually carry Aveeno in Italy.
  16. I don't cruise so I can go on a diet. If I skip lunch, I'm ravenous, like a wolf for dinner. We're in the crowd that eats 3 times a day. That's how we roll. They aren't mammoth portions, but enough to maintain a fair level of energy for the important stuff. Like day drinking, haha.
  17. Varies from ship to ship. Nothing consistent usually. It's kind of like a new adventure every time you board.
  18. True. You never offend me. I'd love to sail free too.
  19. But you get free. We don't. We pay alot for our cabins and want peace and quiet. You keep talking about your casino deals, fine, but for most of us, we are looking for value for our money. And we don't do signature or neptune. So, your response is strange.
  20. Guarantee cabins are a big no in my life. So afraid of a bad location with noise and vibration. I know some say they get fabulous deals that way, but I'd rather not take the chance. It can ruin the cruise.
  21. What a nice positive review. Thanks for posting it. I really love reading happy reviews once in awhile. Breath of fresh air so to speak.
  22. The portions are huge and I always order half portions. I don't know how much other people can eat, but that's more than enough for me. But, I do see people eat ALOT on cruise ships and I'm glad we don't love food that much. Hah!
  23. I've decided to do no traveling outside the US right now. We have every kind of insurance known to man, but that does not mean it would be comfortable being sick so far away. It's really no one's fault that covid is running wild in some spots. Sure, masks may help, and we do wear them, but it's just inevitable that covid will lurk in every corner. Sorry you went through a very difficult time. Hope you both feel a whole lot better by now.
