  1. Or lower my smart thermostat while I’m away cruising.
  2. Just don’t expect fabulous help from the person who answers.
  3. I’m bald. But my wife has thick curly hair. Built in hairdryers on the Caribbean and Sapphire have been adequate. But she had a lot of trouble with the release on ours on the CB. She would have liked to take hers from home.
  4. It sounds like you found exactly what you needed. There are people here who say they don’t need the internet. I’m sure they are correct. There are people here who say YOU don’t need the internet. They don’t know what they’re talking about.
  5. I have always stuck to a single MDR. Partly because the DRM I worked with was there and I enjoyed their knowledge and insights. But, yes you are supposed to be able to move around. Given the only difference is decor and personnel, if I’m happy I see no reason to switch.
  6. I’m shocked. They are supposed to pair you with a Dining Room Manager. When the waiter comes to the table with menus, I ask for the manager. And they know the drill. It’s worked perfectly for me both times so far.
  7. Sorry you missed out on a port. And a good one too. I read the disappointment in your post. But I always defer to the experts. Someone has to be concerned about the comfort and safety of thousands of people. I wouldn’t second guess that. We are confronted daily with different opinions. Democrat vs Republican. Ford vs Chevy. Sometimes the other guy was right. Sometimes not. But someone on your ship is as relieved as you are disappointed. Look at it this way. Bad weather is some other ship’s problem. Now you just have to worry whether the port fees will be refunded.
  8. Is it not possible to inform Princess in advance and meet the DRM your first night at dinner to plan your meals? I do that to prevent them from serving me dairy and it works out very well. In fact, some nights I’m eating better food than the rest of the dining room. I’m not vegan but I order a lot of vegan food because I know it will be dairy free.
  9. Since your cabin is not “loaded” on your medallion, that would not be an impediment to shipping it or moving you to the green lane. But I have no idea why they are doing this, but that’s not the reason. You’ve already PIF? Ive had a guarantee and been green laned.
  10. Yep. Says right here it was the International Dining Room. Deck 6 aft.
  11. I think it was International Dining Room on deck 6. I can look on my patter tomorrow if I kept day 1. I’ll let you know. We did not have lunch in the MDR embarkation day. I think we grabbed a sandwich at the IC. First priority after boarding is a drink.
  12. They had Diet Coke in cans on the Sapphire last week. At least that’s what I was given when I asked for a Diet Coke. Free with Plus.
  13. I do not. It doesn’t show up in any of my pictures. Sharon just referred to it as “your table”. Enter the dining room and turn right as soon as possible. There’s a waiter station nearby. And usually you pass a large table set up for 8 or more for Chefs Table on the way. Deans section seemed to be that entire front right corner (facing aft). He was fantastic. Don’t hold me to it but I feel like it was a low number, like 25 or 26.
  14. We were given a 4 top (for 2) nights 3-7 in Dean’s section in Savoy. We had a window to watch the whales from. It was right beside the Chef’s table. We couldn’t have been more pleased. Sharon was the Savoy host who made it happen.
  15. Do a search and it may turn up. They are not rfid and they do have a battery. I’m not a techie so I didn’t store details in my memory.
  16. There is nothing loaded in them but a code to link to your information on a server. Printed on them is your name, your ship and sailing date. I cannot imagine what anyone in China could do with that information. I guess someone could hack into the server, but your medallion won’t help them do that. Besides, they’re made in Singapore. That’s not China. Not that I’m worried about anyone in China taking an interest in me.
  17. You beat me to the punch. The relationship between cost and price is tenuous, other than the need to make a profit. The relationship between price and demand is much stronger.
  18. I was on Sapphire Princess the first half of your 14 day. I am sorry your experience was not satisfactory. We had a different experience. Our balcony cabin was well maintained and didn’t show its age. We dined in the Savoy every night. Mario, in fact (and Luigi), stopped by our table every night and asked our opinion of the food. Because of a dietary restriction, my meals were prepared special. The DRM took my order and gave me her recommendations, which I sometimes followed. All meals were delivered hot and I enjoyed the flavors. It was not gourmet food, but comparable to any better chain or independent restaurant. On Italian night, the DRM cooked penne with arrabbiata sauce by our table and I thought it was excellent, although I told her I make mine spicier. She said she does at home but gets in trouble if she does that onboard. I generally eat seafood and know better than to order a Princess steak. But, as they say, YMMV and it appears yours certainly did.
  19. Yes. Name, ship, sailing dates. They can be created at embarkation and nothing that’s printed on them controls anything.
  20. If he’s still there, my favorite dining room manager Dejan is in Palm.
  21. As I’ve read here, there is no personal information loaded on the medallion. Just an identifier. The rest is on a server.
  22. When I have difficulty with any customer service rep over the phone, I hang up and dial again. You have a better chance of getting a competent agent. As it sounds, you’re not likely to find one less competent.
  23. Me too. It eliminates one needless possible complication.
  24. I recommend testing it immediately after boarding. Order a drink >$15 and wait to see if anything shows up in your online account.
  25. Based on experiencing two time zone changes so far with Princess, I’d guess they take an aggressive approach. In both cases, they have shifted time zones before we reached the next port, in each case a day earlier than necessary.
