  1. I will say that when I encountered the incorrect birthday which wouldn’t allow me to log in, it was my TA’s fault. It does seem weird that Princess requires a fresh birthday for each cruise when it’s already in my personal data. And I had no way to guess what the wrong birthday was that the TA entered. Chat to the rescue. I hope chat comes up for you. I think that’s the easiest way if you don’t have a TA or PVP.
  2. They can help. My TA loaded the wrong birthday, her finger must have skipped over a digit. I used the chat function and the agent was able to find the problem and fix it in less than 15 minutes. If you get an agent that can’t help, hang up and try again. There are still some good ones left.
  3. Almost no one looks at the BBB website until they have a problem. Of course by then it’s too late.
  4. I don’t think the menu would be a deal breaker for me. But I understand that some will be disappointed, especially on a very long trip. We average one MDR lunch per cruise so far on two Princess cruises totaling 17 days.
  5. I’ve had the pate in the MDR and don’t remember it looking like that. Are you sure you didn’t order refried beans for Mexican night?
  6. Similar question. We will be a group of 6 and don’t wish to be split up. Is there van transportation available?
  7. I pay comparable prices for drink in bars on land. I don’t consider Princess drink prices excessive. If you want to drink cheap, I think the only option is staying at home.
  8. You can pre-purchase. It’s a modest selection of 350 or 375 ml bottles. Bourbon, gin, scotch, vodka and rum. Nothing top shelf and several misidentified. Log into your cruise on the website and select the beverages tab on top. Lots of wines as well.
  9. Mine were already ordered. I used the old app. Go to “choose your medallion”. Click on “order history”. Select the order and scroll to the bottom of the page where you will find “cancel order”. That should work. Now you can start over.
  10. Can anyone tell me which bars on the Enchanted Princess have draft?
  11. In my one experience, it was still a zoo at 11:00.
  12. In 2 Princess cruises, I have not encountered draft beer. Anything I ordered came in a can or bottle.
  13. Very profitable! I haven’t seen margins like that since the computer business in the 80’s.
  14. Based on limited knowledge, excursions appear to be a low margin product for Princess. I have looked at several that were available independently and the difference was about 5%. I agree that shop merchandise is high margin, with exceptions. But wouldn’t most cruisers turn right around and use the OBC to purchase another excursion?
  15. As long as shipping is free (Plus package) and as long as lost/missing/wrong medallions can be easily replaced at embarkation, why not? I don’t get stressed in the least over ordering medallions to be shipped to my home. And it’s such a thrill when they arrive 10 days before and you realize where you will soon be. And if they don’t? It’s no big deal.
  16. The first thing I would tell the chat agent is “I do not want to downgrade categories, lose perks or pay more.”
  17. I can see the advantage at dinner. Has anyone ever encountered a crowded MDR at breakfast? They’ve always appeared less than half full any time we’ve gone.
  18. It should. Others have complained that a charge shows when it shouldn’t. Some see the charge dropped when they check out. Others must see GS for a refund (in OBC). I recently added Plus after I had already ordered my medallions for port pick up. It took me a while to figure out how to cancel that order and reorder with shipping to my home. No charge ever showed in either case.
  19. I don’t imagine it is Princess behind the changes. I’m under the impression that Princess contracts with vendors who provide the excursions. Princess has nothing to gain from a change. It is not Princess trying to line their pockets by substituting shopping for lunch. I realize that the OBC vs. credit refund is on them, but don’t blame them for what is not under their control.
  20. They’ve had Sam Adams Boston lager my last two cruises. On CB it was from Mexico in March and predated the reformulation. I never found a bar that had anything special on that sailing. We did sail Sapphire in September and there were 5 Alaskan beers available at any bar where I ordered one.
  21. We rode the shuttle in reverse (21 to 2) last March. Boarding the shuttle was a madhouse. There was a mob vs. a line for the shuttle - which was a short bus that held maybe 20-30 people. I would do anything to avoid it next time. I like the idea of parking at the disembarkation garage.
  22. A high school friend work in the casino on Pacific Princess for about 5 years. I can confirm the China port based on an anecdote he told me. He arrived in Hong Kong and there was mail waiting for him there. One envelope was a wedding invitation from a girl he thought he was still dating. That’s when he knew it was time for a land based job. He graduated high school in 1972, so college probably in 1976. Add 5 years and it would have been around 1981 or 1982.
  23. We bring about 20 with us. I would recommend to anyone that hasn’t purchased them yet to avoid the ones that only hold 5 pounds. I think our second set is rated for 10 pounds. Even then, we double up for heavier items. We haven’t traveled with kids in years but still find them useful. Umbrellas, hats, medallions, binoculars all hang on hooks until we need them. Out of the way but in sight so we don’t forget them. If you watch a video on how ships are built, each cabin is a metal module that is slid into place. I haven’t seen an outside wall that isn’t steel, and therefor holds a magnet. The only wall I’m not sure of is the one separating the closet from the “bedroom”. We just use the wall opposite the bed.
  24. We had a lovely cruise on her last March. Outstanding crew. MDR food was delicious. We never felt any crowding even though she sailed close to capacity. We enjoyed the bar music and took (not maximum) advantage of the Plus package. We walked the promenade deck every day, enjoyed the gym and various games and programs. No cabin issues. Noro and missed ports can occur on any ship, any line. If you’re concerned about that, you need to book a cabin in the mountains.
  25. Might be fun to add a few pieces from another box.
