  1. I cannot find anything on the Princess website. We normally cruise when children are in school and see very few of them on the ship. We are taking our grandchildren with us in June. Our normal routine is to listen to music after dinner: Crooners, Wheelhouse typically. We’d like them to be with us occasionally. We won’t buy them beers (they are 8 and 12) and they know how to behave themselves in that atmosphere. We take them to brew pubs regularly for dinner and stay afterwards to listen to music. If they get bored, they know how to entertain themselves without running around or getting loud or whiny. Is there an official Princess policy that prohibits children in the lounges? I’m not interested in unofficial policies or passenger opinions, just the letter of the law.

I’m pretty sure they’re the same people.
  3. Our TA booked the princess shuttle for us. It was as much a tour as transportation. I really learned a lot and enjoyed it. I think it was $40 each.
  4. Good question. I never saw any sign that indicated they did, but I wasn’t looking for one. I order an Americano and it’s exactly the way I like my coffee.
  5. I tried the Lavazza with caffeine in the buffet on Sapphire 2 weeks ago and found it too strong. However, I ordered decaf in the MDR after dinner and thought it was excellent. The raw materials are there. But the process doesn’t seem consistent from venue to venue. I will continue to get my morning coffee from the IC.
  6. I went back in this afternoon and I couldn’t find what I was seeing earlier. It may have been fixed.
  7. We sailed Sapphire Princess in early September on the inside passage. We had a balcony on the port side and felt like we missed nothing. Most of the way, there is land on both sides. For Hubbard Glacier, we had an excellent view, but the both sides had their opportunity. Likewise, College Fjord was enjoyable from both sides of the ship. I think Starboard has better views when docked, however.
  8. The conversion to starlink took place over the summer I believe. Anything you knew or believed about Princess internet capability prior to that is outdated. We sailed Caribbean Princess in March (in the Caribbean) and performance was marginal. We sailed Sapphire Princess to Alaska in September and it was just fine.
  9. Of course there is a medallion app function you can use to find traveling companions on the ship that doesn’t require an internet subscription or texting capability.
  10. Maybe a TA would have the ability. I’m not giving up hope yet.
  11. I didn’t go that far. I worry that it would. Then 90 days out, no other cabins left, I get a bill for the difference and a take it or leave it message. I’m meeting my TA Friday and we will discuss it if it still comes up. This happens with airfares and it usually generates a refusal to honor and a refund. I don’t want that. I want a cabin.
  12. This one is 7 nights. But, yes, I prefer longer. 😆
  13. I’m planning a summer cruise with Princess and have been testing out various ships and itineraries. I picked one and priced an interior cabin. The cabin selection I was shown were all balcony and deluxe balcony cabins. At an interior price! What are the chances I could book and keep one? I tried asking for balcony and got a mini suite at a balcony price. Just more typical Princess website glitches, I suppose. But might someone not notice and let me keep it?
  14. It’s not the new norm if we won’t let it be. The service levels will remain (or return to) high if we insist.
  15. Or lower my smart thermostat while I’m away cruising.
  16. Just don’t expect fabulous help from the person who answers.
  17. I’m bald. But my wife has thick curly hair. Built in hairdryers on the Caribbean and Sapphire have been adequate. But she had a lot of trouble with the release on ours on the CB. She would have liked to take hers from home.
  18. It sounds like you found exactly what you needed. There are people here who say they don’t need the internet. I’m sure they are correct. There are people here who say YOU don’t need the internet. They don’t know what they’re talking about.
  19. I have always stuck to a single MDR. Partly because the DRM I worked with was there and I enjoyed their knowledge and insights. But, yes you are supposed to be able to move around. Given the only difference is decor and personnel, if I’m happy I see no reason to switch.
  20. I’m shocked. They are supposed to pair you with a Dining Room Manager. When the waiter comes to the table with menus, I ask for the manager. And they know the drill. It’s worked perfectly for me both times so far.
  21. Sorry you missed out on a port. And a good one too. I read the disappointment in your post. But I always defer to the experts. Someone has to be concerned about the comfort and safety of thousands of people. I wouldn’t second guess that. We are confronted daily with different opinions. Democrat vs Republican. Ford vs Chevy. Sometimes the other guy was right. Sometimes not. But someone on your ship is as relieved as you are disappointed. Look at it this way. Bad weather is some other ship’s problem. Now you just have to worry whether the port fees will be refunded.
  22. Is it not possible to inform Princess in advance and meet the DRM your first night at dinner to plan your meals? I do that to prevent them from serving me dairy and it works out very well. In fact, some nights I’m eating better food than the rest of the dining room. I’m not vegan but I order a lot of vegan food because I know it will be dairy free.
