  1. That would make sense. But maybe that’s too much work and they base it on the size of the ship.
  2. Don’t let a single review discourage you. Maybe I wasn’t paying attention, but I don’t think roaches were mentioned in more than one review. And that was some time ago. Shame on Princess if that hasn’t been addressed by now. More recent cruisers have experienced no a/c, plumbing, insect, electrical or engine problems. Sometimes issues are system. Sometimes they’re one-offs.
  3. We were on a full ship and there were still uncrowded places. It depends on the time of day and scheduled activities. I did find the pools quite busy, especially on sea days. I’ve never been on a ship that had adequate pool space if everyone wanted to use them at the same time. The quietest inside place on the ship with nice views was Skywalkers nightclub. Dinner lines were nothing intimidating if you went early or late.
  4. I tried a filet and prime rib and thought they were both good. My wife ordered a strip loin and found it tough. It’s such a small sample, I cannot extrapolate to every serving of beef on an entire cruise line.
  5. Unless you can prove it does not have surge protection, it may be confiscated. Even if you can, it may be confiscated. I printed the Amazon description page from my purchase and taped it to the box. So far, it’s made it on board.
  6. I saved while I was working, especially after the last kid moved out. We retired 4 years ago and live on our annual income from pensions and social security. We don’t have any debt or much in the way of bills. We meet with our financial advisor every year to make sure our goals haven’t changed and to see if we want to lower risk or increase returns. This year, he told us that our money would continue to grow and if we had no other plans, we would be leaving quite a bit to our children. In essence, he was telling us we could afford to spend much more than we do. We already travel when we can and neither of us needs or wants anything. So, my wife emptied her closet, donated it all to a thrift store, and announced she was going shopping!
  7. I’ve been asked for my cabin number but assumed it was a second level of identification. I’ve not yet been charged for anything in error.
  8. Excellent tip. We can usually make a single pour last through dinner. But there have been times when we haven’t.
  9. I bet you can get one by asking nicely as well.
  10. Of course it’s not. But the app asks for milestones which includes birthdays, anniversaries and a bunch of others as posted above.
  11. It was there a couple months ago. I answered with my actual birthday and then my TA changed it from disembarkation day to 2 days earlier as she knew they weren’t likely to stick a candle in my hash browns before throwing me off the ship.
  12. They have nothing in their records that contradicts the date I gave them for our anniversary which was actually 3 months before we sailed. We shall see if they want to call me a liar or help me celebrate my birthday 2 days early.
  13. I must have the timex version of the app installed. Takes a licking and keeps on ticking.
  14. If that was the case, everyone would celebrate their birthday on every cruise. It is the honor system, after all. we got the cake for our anniversary last cruise. No singing. This time it will be my birthday on disembarkation day. My TA moved it back a couple days. But I’m not expecting more than a piece of cake again.
  15. I got two calls from NCL today, as did my wife. Each time a voicemail was left informing us about their current promotion. Strange since it’s the first time I’ve ever received a call from them. Haven’t sailed them since 2016.
  16. quite the opposite. At some ports they were handing bottles to anyone on the way out. No one was checking medallions to see who has Plus. It was all Crystal Geyser.
  17. Me too. But I still don’t go anywhere without my phone.
  18. Good for you! I love to walk. And love the ships with a complete circuit walking track like Caribbean Princess.
  19. How far out are your cruises? Maybe they’ll open the other MDRs when they get closer to sold out. Might not have enough pax booked to fill all.
  20. Much of what you find on the internet about The Villages is urban myth and pretty easily debunked. What is true is that it is the fastest growing metro area in the US. I used to tell people I lived 10 miles south of TV. Four years later, I have to tell folks I live 2.5 miles east of TV. I am no fan of the developer. But, in my book, folks are folks. There are plenty of nice people living there. It probably has the same ratio of good people to jerks as any Princess cruise you’ve taken. Too pricy for my budget. But as a non-Villager, I can still take advantage of some of the benefits they offer without living there.
  21. Could be the final voyages of the CB. I hope not. We are about to take our second Grand class ship this fall. I like smaller ships. I really want a full promenade for daily walks. Sometimes the best competition is an alternative. I do realize that Orlando visitors looking to extend a land vacation at sea might not be impressed by the Caribbean Princess. Good. Even though I expect and hope that the pricing will be lower than the competition (except MSC) in order to entice that demographic. There are lots of older full time central Florida residents who will be thrilled to have the CB sailing out of our back yard.
  22. We sailed CB in March with no problems. It never felt crowded outside of the coffee lines in the morning. Everything for us was in working order although there was an occasional sewage smell on deck 8. Honestly, plumbing issues can crop up anywhere on any ship. They are caused by passengers. If reported, they can be dealt with quickly. Likewise bugs. These are not permanent problems waiting for dry dock to correct. I was more concerned to read about engine and a/c issues. But we did like the ship and would sail her again, probably after the move to Port Canaveral.
