  1. If he’s still there, my favorite dining room manager Dejan is in Palm.
  2. As I’ve read here, there is no personal information loaded on the medallion. Just an identifier. The rest is on a server.
  3. When I have difficulty with any customer service rep over the phone, I hang up and dial again. You have a better chance of getting a competent agent. As it sounds, you’re not likely to find one less competent.
  4. Me too. It eliminates one needless possible complication.
  5. I recommend testing it immediately after boarding. Order a drink >$15 and wait to see if anything shows up in your online account.
  6. Based on experiencing two time zone changes so far with Princess, I’d guess they take an aggressive approach. In both cases, they have shifted time zones before we reached the next port, in each case a day earlier than necessary.
  7. I don’t think anyone hears back after it’s been posted. You have to look for it. Or you can be pleasantly surprised later while onboard. But it does seem to be posting in far less than the 21 days.
  8. I have the same general reaction to surveys - I feel like my opinion has value so I want compensation - but in this one instance, I like to think I’m helping myself.
  9. Well, I’m probably 30 to 40 years older than he, so chances are his hearing was superior to mine. But both of us made the effort to lean toward each other. He at least made it look like he was trying. And he eventually came around the desk to speak face to face when he realized I wasn’t leaving without an answer.
  10. Makes a good case for checking their folio daily. Imagine all the charges that could show up when it reverts to Plus mid-cruise! Not the person I want to be standing in line behind at Guest Services!
  11. From his thread or CC? I don’t think we were toooooo harsh.
  12. My one visit to GS last week on our final night was very frustrating. Who designs a ship with guest services facing a Piazza where loud music plays daily? Neither the rep nor I could hear the other. Hmm, maybe that was on purpose.
  13. There were a lot of folks waiting close by to the IC and many sitting in the Good Spirits lounge last week on Sapphire on disembarkation day. It was open and serving. We didn’t get up to leave until about 9:45 so that’s 3:45 of drinking. I do not want to be around anyone who tries to down 15 drinks in that amount of time.
  14. I read somewhere that they are manufactured in Singapore. But it doesn’t matter to me where they’re made. So far, mine have worked just fine and that’s all I care about.
  15. We were on the NCL Epic 7 years ago with a group that numbered about 2,000. They did not close many venues for long, but the group effectively took over the ship. I would not repeat that experience and want to be aware of any large groups sailing with me in the future. For the purpose of avoiding them. Condolences to the OP.
  16. It might be hard to believe if you spend too much time on this board, but Princess gets some things right. It appears that some change took place in the last 6-9 months and shareholder OBC is now granted very quickly.
  17. I purchased an ocean view guarantee for last week’s Sapphire to Alaska. I bid on an upgrade to a balcony and won A420. It is mid-ship, right across from the main elevators and staircase. It was convenient to almost everything food and drink related. I was worried about noise but it was never a problem. At worst, we heard carts rolling overhead at times. It didn’t appear that that cabin class was sold out. I did see aft cabins on the Aloha deck that didn’t appear to be occupied and right before sailing, interior cabins were heavily discounted. When I had not heard from Princess with 30 days to sail, I bumped my bid by a little. I got the upgrade 24 hours later. We were pleased with our cabin. But there are so many variables, it’s hard to say that it would work the same for others or even for us next cruise.
  18. Add to that the advantage of a larger screen that you don’t have to burden yourself with bringing along. Maps, photos and certain websites are better viewed on the larger PC screens than the phone or iPad I travel with.
  19. Yes, or possibly a few days before sailing. I would have thought port fees were relatively fixed. I have no clue how the port or cruise line calculates them.
  20. It’s a nice facility. The machine to dispense tokens is right in each laundry, although you may have to try more than one as they are sometimes empty or out of order. I took pictures of everything including token dispenser. This is one of two laundries on deck 12, Sapphire Princess last week.
  21. We have twice now gotten a port fees credit without dropping or replacing a port. It was $18-25 pp each time. I have no idea what the reason was, but I spent it like any other OBC.
  22. Something slightly different happened on our first cruise. We were stopped in Nassau. My wife never anticipated the window washers when she stepped out of the bathroom without her robe on! 😮
  23. But it is a way of saving money on a future cruise and only available onboard.
  24. In my case, the DR Mgr managed my dietary peculiarities. I thought that was worthy of recognition. The hostess at the door was the one who arranged for us to sit at the same premium table 5 out of 7 nights last week. That was worthy as well. And there was a cocktail server in the Wheelhouse who made a beeline for us every time we came through the door. If we’d been consistent, I’m sure she’d have brought our drinks without having ordered. That merited daily tips and a larger one on the last night. She got a mention as well. our cabin steward screwed up in a couple small ways. He was quite young and I felt like he might be new and still on a learning curve. I did leave him a small tip to compensate for him having seen me naked when he burst into the bathroom unannounced. He did not get a mention in my survey.
