  1. Stranger things have happened, but I can’t imagine the software recognizing you used your credit card for a canceled cruise and refusing to take it again because of that. Unless there’s a “fool me once” line in the code somewhere. i am not surprised that the “help line” hung upon you when they couldn’t fix the problem.
  2. Go to YouTube and look for videos of rock concerts. Any close-up of the performers should reveal the ear plugs they wear to protect their ears from the sounds that they are making. Many have suffered serious hearing loss over the years. If it’s good enough for Pete Townsend, you shouldn’t worry about what others see and think.
  3. That’s what I saw on CB in March - multiple copies of several games but few books. Just to add to the chatter, I have used the kindle app on my iPad for over 10 years. I still buy a book or two in paperback, but don’t lug them around with me when traveling. if you spotted me in the waiting room at Pep Boys this morning looking at my phone, I was not playing games or surfing, I was reading Kurt V’s Breakfast of Champions for the umpteenth time.
  4. Wow. I’m guessing you’re not in an inside cabin. I wouldn’t turn down free Plus even if I wasn’t a drinker.
  5. If passenger one buys a package, passenger two must as well. Passengers three and four are not required to buy a package.
  6. To be clear, no passenger needs to have a beverage package (a significant feature of a Plus fare, but as stated above, only one component). Hopefully your TA asked questions about your cruising style which led them to book this fare for you. I assume passengers one and two enjoy one or more adult beverages a day. Otherwise, a standard fare with select additions might be more economical.
  7. We mistook those for grill marks. But, now that you mention it …
  8. We were served cans of Diet Coke on the Caribbean Princess in March. But not always. In September on Sapphire, it was always cans. Mrs BV would prefer caffeine free Diet Coke. If anyone spots it, give us all a shout.
  9. I would avoid anything Princess identifies as a “strip loin”. Mrs BV ordered one and could barely cut or chew it. It may have been a one off, but she would never order it again.
  10. The friendliest crews at sea. self service laundry. An enjoyable MDR experience, including effective handling of food allergies. a positive experience with crew chat when a problem arose. Fair pricing, especially the Plus package. (YMMV) older, smaller ships without features that attract a wilder crowd. Excellent bar entertainers.
  11. Crooners does seem to fill up fast once the music starts. We’ve done pretty well arriving after dinner and before anyone sits down at the piano. We always end up sharing a 4 top with any strangers that show up after the last table has been claimed.
  12. We did a 10 day Panama Canal in March. I might have seen a couple tuxes. I took a dark suit and tie, and decided that was the last time. In September we did Alaska and I was never more formal than a collared shirt with a sweater. I have a tux that will stay in the closet from now on.
  13. In the case of our last cruise, often at the wrong times. it pays to visit the gym and get a copy of the schedule. Mrs BV showed up at Patter time and discovered she was an hour late for the yoga class. There was no problem with laying out her mat and giving herself a class though.
  14. No doubt a gift from Princess IT for all your complimentary posts.
  15. It’s not a rumor when Princess issues a press release. Was I dreaming?
  16. It’s the old app. The one that drives people to drink.
  17. It’s that 15 drink limit that has my phone worried.
  18. I checked the App Store today to see if the new Princess app was available. I got a chuckle at what popped up next to the medallion app.
  19. As I understand it, MDR lunch will be served 12-1:30 regardless of when they let the first passengers aboard. That might shorten the window some. My routine is to get a drink first and then head for the MDR.
  20. I had a Manhattan with it and I think I paid $1.18 over my Plus allowance. Hard to judge in a mixed drink but I didn’t dislike it.
  21. Too tight for me to be comfortable. We were held on the ship until 9:30, although we were far from the first group to debark. What happens if you miss the tunnel window? Is it a 30 or 60 minute delay? It’s a pretty ride but I don’t think I would be enjoying it if I was stressing over my arrival time.
  22. Your cabin attendant will supply them if you request once onboard. We got ours the first day, but late due to all of them having to be washed.
  23. We can hope that the new app was written by a different third party than the last one. A more competent one.
  24. MSC will match your status. Although I’m pretty sure that’s not what you’re interested in.
