  1. For so reason I didn’t see your last post. Thank you. I thought maybe I had misread your posts. keep your current cruise. See what you can arrange at Canada Place for your husband for a private space…. Locals can help there. The other option is to leave the Ship in Victoria and spend the night in a hotel there, have the meeting in the hotel room that morning, while you go shopping or something. It would be easiest and surefired no hick ups with fog etc in Vancouver. If your flight is late out of Vancouver you may still make that work too with the ferries. Or see the company will help with any air ticket changes and stay another day.
  2. This next post is even more confusing…. No? To what? What are they moving? Check the times of my post against the new thread you quote . My post on this thread was 7 hours ago; the thread you mention was started 3 hours ago. My post you quoted was based on the information at hand 7 hours ago. Nothing said in this thread about not having booked yet, only that they would have to cancel if couldn’t work out something. ( at least until an hour ir so ago ) Several of us were just giving friendly suggestions. It would be helpful if the OP would give all the details in the first pist.
  3. That is the best idea yet. To cancel the cruise at this late date is a big loss. If you are in Vancouver the night before, just plan to disembark that evening after dinner. You will not miss much and avoid the hurry up and wait to be called the next morning. We always get off the night before if it is an option. You can probably find a cheaper hotel than the one at the terminal too.
  4. Forgot about the hotel right there. Might be able to work something out with them and use early self debarkation… they are the first off.
  5. I am too and could make it. By that time most people will have left. Those that are still there will be into their cups and won’t care you look like😂
  6. You may be in the middle of debarking assuming it starts around 8:30 like it did for us in Jan. No chance to move the start time for the meeting until 10.
  7. Usually serve until 9 or 9:30. How fast can you clean up😁 Maybe place order with room service from RS or Compass Rose menu . It should be delivered by the time you get cleaned up.
  8. Forgot about that tour. We have aged out of that type of activity but our son (54) went with that company on a drive trip to Cozumel and said it was great. And I think any of the ruins tours would be good if you have never been to any.
  9. Agree with Wendy on table size an Serice gets spoty with the big tables sometimes. Meeting new people to dine with is so easy on Regent…..met new friends over drinks before dinner and ask them to join you for dinner or just tell the hostess you would like to share a table for 4, 6 or 8 when you get to the dinning room. Go at popular times to have more couples wanting to eat. Every few CC members on any given cruise compared to the # passengers.
  10. Malaria is only an issue in the northern parts of S Africa. Many parts / safari camps are malaria free in South Africa. If you do not plan an over land safari or evening activities in a Malarial area SAfrica/Africa you are probably safe with no meds. We on CC are not Drs. Talk your plans with a Travel Dr. We always do. We have done overland safaris to Kruger and Saba Sands both Malaria areas in SAfrica, also Aldo Elephant Park and cruise day trips to parks outside of Durban and new London. All are wonderful!!
  11. As the op said they can’t take malarone and we decided not to use it and the other newer drugs with our Drs advice because of side effects. There is a sun warning with Docy, but at our age we have taken it for years and never had that problem and we don’t stay out in sun either. Also it is a good protection for GI problems. But as has been said you should trust your Dr and not CC in medical matters. You never know if the mosquitoes that bits you around the campfire is a carrier or not. It is pretty sweeping statement that no Regent person has ever contracted Malaria. Since it takes time to develop after once bitten.
  12. We have done three lengthy cruise / land trips to Africa with safaris in Kenya, Tanzania and S Africa. We were in Malarial parts too long to safely take the newer drugs. Our Dr gave us doxycycline for Malaria prevention. I wasn’t comfortable with the side effects listed with the more popular meds. It is an old fashion drug for prevention but does work. We also always travel it it to treat GI bugs at our Dr suggestion. Go to you travel Dr and follow he suggestion but if you do a safari in Malaria country take something. We were bitten and more than once. Why risk it. We though we would do one and done as far as the safari was concerned but we had a ball. We were 74 on our last trip.
  13. No I do not, I also stand by my earlier comments about fixing service problems with a smile. This was not a letter about refusing to fix a problem with service on the ship. it was a request for a refund for a tour they didn’t like. Reading the letter in context, if course, that issue has to go to Miami. Probably won’t get any money back either as it is in the same category as missed ports, shorten port time etc. Two entirely different situations as far as I am concerned
  14. Never received one of those from Regent….always had a call to tell me the problem would be fixed by x time or checking that it had been fixed plus later checks that the problem was still fixed. The one time that a fix wasn’t possible we were moved to our choice of two suites. Regent on the whole does make every effort to provide a good product.
  15. It has been our experience over the last 12 years that the stated tour times can and do change sometimes up until the night before the tour. Just check the passages the night before for the final time. Of course, if something happens to slow the ship down it will change again. Really no big deal, certainly not something to get upset over…after all we are sort of a captive audience on a cruise ship🤣
  16. For BC air you have to do a TA or TP(cross an ocean). It has been this way always or at least for years unless it is the WC or a GV. I think some Lisbon departures have encountered the no hotel or at least somewhere in Europe recently. No hotel would mean no provided transportation either, l imagine.
  17. And remember there are upwards to 2500 passengers a day, everyday on the Regent ships. Most are having a wonderful time and we don’t hear about the good things they have enjoyed. The people posting problems with canceled tours, canceled cruises and other issues on CC are a drop in the bucket…. Maybe 1 or 2 a day. Our family cruises with Cunard and HAL, so I read those board also. They are having the same complaints as Regent is, except on a larger scale. Went to our favorite little eatery last night and they were still out of Minute Maid lemonade😟…they have been out for a week. Very irritating, but s sign of the times.
  18. I am sure the younger crowd doesn’t mind it at all…..and they are port intensive so you are on the go most days. We use to enjoy that, but now we like a good mix of sea day's maybe 2/1 and at least three weeks on board. The staff really gets to know our likes and this is where Regent really shines.
  19. I don’t anybody has said that they didn’t get their money back. The complaint is they didn’t more! It is a risk cruisers take on shorter cruises to popular places. I wouldn’t like it/ didn’t like it. So we no longer book short cruises or like this past Dec we waited until almost time for the cruise to book. This May happen more often with Regent since they seem have many more 7 day cruises than in the past. On the shorter cruises the passenger mix is different too. Another down side as the ship has a different feel.
  20. This has happened once in a while for years. Seven day cruises in the Caribbean, Alaska and the Med are popular victims. Since bookings open to the public more than 2 years out anything can happen. One of Regents Med cruises was just canceled for a charter….same deal. Seabourn canceled an Alaskan cruise on us…7 days some years ago. Nothing offered except small OBC. Since then no 7 day cruises for us. Risk of cruising, like changed itineraries, bad weather etc.
  21. We are scheduled for the Nov ‘24 Amazon cruise…..is it on cruise on the list? We really like the Mariner because it has for and aft lounges and lots of public space. The Navigator is an old ship and in Dec it was in good shape except some suites really needed new carpet and such. There are always little pockets of rust on the ships, There was some rust in the corner of our balcony on the Splendor in Dec. Hope Regent will take care of the interior of their older ships. Many like them better than the new larger ships. A Chinese Dragon and a jewel incrusted egg doesn’t mean a thing to me…..good food, service and fresh unfrayed soft goods do!
  22. Totally agree with you. The first 2 places you mentioned we did the bus ride, worth every mile/minute in the bus to see, but I would not go to those places on any kind of land based tour. One day was great but it was definitely enough. Drinks and food we didn’t have to worry about, worth ii! We did a camping trip to the northern most point of New Foundland one summer but didn’t have time to see Peggy’s Cove so we did that tour from the ship, again well worth it.
  23. I agree with that up to a point and don’t like as a rule long bus tours. We had been to Australia twice before on extended land tours driving ourselves or using the wonderful trains or flying to connect distant areas, one was for 6 weeks the other for 4. But enjoyed the GOR so much it was worth seeing it again with neither of us driving. This is definitely a case of one size doesn’t all. So far we have been able to find tours that fit our needs/interest. Our first Regent cruise just after they had tours included we could walk and climb steps, no problem, but abilities have a sneaky way of changing.
  24. We were on in Dec BtoB Miami There was a HOHO that day. We just wanted to enjoy the ship. Those like us were assign a 10 debark time and were told to listen to the announcements. Sure enough about 10ish we ( about dozen of us ) were called to go ashore. We walked off though the terminal and right back on the ship, 10-15 minutes most. Our pass was the new key card. Easy, then headed to a bar to celebrate on a near empty ship. They just had to document that all the passenger were off.
