  1. Baskets still in operation, but now that the cobbles are gone, the ride is smoother and safer.
  2. Lots of people want that, (there are literally thousands of posts on the subject) but in practice it is very difficult to accomodate that request under the new system, unless you are prepared to dine immediately the MDR opens. Keeping specific tables free for a certain time each night reduces customer turnover in the MDR. Your best bet is to book a specific time in the MDR each night now, using the app, and hope that you are seated more or less in the same section each night.
  3. He is now called Director of Retail Operations !
  4. I totally agree. The wine measures seemed the same as previously on our last cruise, and with PP getting refills was easy. All a storm in a wine glass really !
  5. I don't think this role exists anymore. With the advent of DMW there is less and less that can be done "face to face" on board. The days of pleading for anytime rather than fixed dining, or vice versa, have long gone. If you care to share with us what you want to discuss, we may be able to help you more.
  6. The normal calculation in europe, and what is shown via the onboard display, is litres per 100 km. Used to keep my mental arithmetic skills honed converting that to mpg, and then further calculations required to calculate the cost of a gallon in sterling when buying litres in euros.
  7. Only about 15% of pax were British, so a pretty low percentage. No idea how that compares to pre-pandemic levels.
  8. As I reported previously, kettles were provided on Regal Princess in the Mediterranean, which did not cruise out of Southampton.
  9. In essence, no. As in the UK, you are asked to wear a mask, and stay away from crowded places. So, basically, you can do as you wish, although one would hope that for the first couple of days after testing positive, you limit your interactions with others as much as possible.
  10. I suppose that by the time you factor in the cost of travelling to Gatwick/Luton etc and back, hotel rooms, meals etc, the actual nett extra cost will probably be nearer £100 each. Still a lot, but if your departure airport was Luton, it would be a price I would happily pay to avoid the place. IMHO, Luton and Leeds/Bradford are the two worst airports in the UK, although recent reports suggest that Manchester is doing its best to challenge them.
  11. Interestingly a kettle and tea bags, coffee sachets etc were provided in our cabin on Regal in tge Mediterranean last week. Not sure if all cabins had them, or just those occupied by Brits.
  12. Well, after deciding to go for a luxury hotel weekend break to celebrate my birthday (thanks to Saga cancelling our cruise), by some quirk of fate we have actually booked an appartment in Ilfracombe for a week! It looks very plush, as it should, considering the price ! Now, all I have to do is worry about is how much petrol will cost in September. £2.50 a litre ?
  13. Indeed, we all have different customs, it's just that it seens a shame to waste a beautiful evening by going to eat so early. Similarly, I have seen Spanish waiters being thoroughly confused when American tourists ask for the lunch menu at 11:30 am !
  14. Actually, I don't think you gave an actual reservation as such, because no one checks when you enter the theatre, according to other posters.
  15. That was certainly not the case with the Crown Grill on Regal recently. On several nights the restaurant was fully booked, apart from strange times such as 17:40 . Who would want to eat dinner in the Mediterranean in the summer at that sort of time !
  16. Not my experience on Regal a couple of weeks ago, compared to Sky Princess in October. The wine price list was identical.
  17. Normally there is a surcharge for using non-London airports, but probably worth paying it for the certainty.
  18. We had a similar issue with ours, but even replacing the battery made no difference. I replaced it with a "sealed unit" type alarm, bought from Argos, with a life of, supposedly, 10 years. As I put it up, it crossed my mind that I might not be around when it needed replacing ! As an aside, the unit has an on/off switch, so no need for the use of a hammer when the low battery warning sounds.
  19. If the cruise is cancelled, would your flights and hotel costs not be covered by your travel insurance ? As an aside, these days, unless it is just a one day stay, I only book hotels with a fully refundable cancellation policy.
  20. Personally I would take that claim with a pinch of salt. We tried to book the Crown Grill, three days in advance, and were basically told it was full. Being club class made no difference. Given the number of cc cabins, I don't see how Princess can give priority reservations, short of keeping a large number of tables free every night, which they obviously will not do.
  21. Indeed, although Mickey Haller's Lincoln town car is slightly bigger than my wife's Fiat 500. I certainly won't be conducting any legal business from the back seat !
  22. Yes John, dropped us off near the old town harbour. The area round the harbour is flat, no cobble stones etc, so pretty wheelchair friendly. However, the bus stop is at the top of a slight incline. Not overly steep, but might be a bit of an effort on your return. Sorry not to be more helpful.
  23. The Marseilles bus situation is a strange one. We were there a couple of weeks ago, and the coach shuttle was in full swing.
  24. I don't see any need for that. If you want to save fuel, drive slower, but there is no need to penalise those who want to drive faster.
