  1. Past supposition was also that because it's Royal's island, their ships get priority and X gets the scraps from a scheduling point-of-view. I certainly wouldn't want to go there as a X passenger if I had to share facilities with a megaship from Royal.
  2. Ditto. We have dinner late. Prime pool time is when the early birds start clearing out. Now we get to sit in a small pool next to kids splashing around? Or watching us lounge while hanging out in the hot tubs? I was fine with the longstanding policy of allowing (limited) family time if it was cold or rainy out. Not with a takeover in mid-afternoon every day. How about moving family time to coincide with dinner hours instead? And of course in the "give an inch, take a mile" tradition, the ones who would ignore adults only are certainly going to ignore posted hours, so I don't see this as resolving any problem.
  3. It's not retro if you wore it the first time around.
  4. The current protocols are on Celebrity's website. https://www.celebritycruises.com/health-and-safety
  5. Current protocols are on their website https://www.celebritycruises.com/health-and-safety
  6. With their systems history and terrible booking infrastructure, I suspect they don't really have a good way to know who all is affected and are dealing with it as they figure it out. A real cluster, for sure.
  7. I don't disagree in spirit (I think X is handling all of this horribly), but a double Zenith cruiser should also know by this point how the system works when it comes to booking directly versus going through a third party.
  8. Not that they shouldn't be handling it better, but if your booking is with a TA, you have to work with the TA. They're getting paid to service the reservation, which is why if you call X directly, they will refer you back to your TA. I asked on the other thread but isn't the $500 meant to be for airline change fees so you can switch your flights? That was the offer in the past. If your change fees are more than that, can you not make that case with them directly to cover more?
  9. I assumed that the $500 was to pay change fees so you can move any existing air arrangements you have. I would presume that if your change fees are more than the allotment you could make a direct appeal for the difference. That is how it has worked in the past.
  10. Here's a video of the same room on a sister ship. Should be very similar. I wouldn't consider it an obstructed view. The lifeboats are below the balcony and you'll be looking out over them. I don't think it's much different on the floors above in that you cannot look straight down into the water from many rooms along the side of the ship. 6th floor is where a lot of the Retreat suites are and many of the Sky Suites have the same view.
  11. Cold comfort, but the way they're handling this is no better than they have handled cancellations in the past. I lost a few sailings when they started doing the ship Revolution program and it was very similar. Not a lot of time to make a decision, compensation not that great for the inconvenience, itineraries not like-for-like, etc. I think I ended up taking refunds for several of them because it became a hassle. I booked with another line to get one trip I wanted where I wanted it at the time I wanted to take it.
  12. My friend last month had major flu-like symptoms, and I did have only sniffles. We both had COVID and one likely gave it to the other. I had to test because we were in close contact. Otherwise, I would have gone to work and spread it around there thinking I only had allergies. Thankfully we have vaccines and treatments so it's not as severe for most people as it was a few years ago.
  13. Anything goes past final payment. They're not required to leave accessible rooms open in case someone who needs one decides to book a last minute cruise.
  14. This can vary by region. My local congressman said in his recent email update that they were currently unable to submit casework requests to the DC processing center at all because of the severe backlog for this area. Reddit is a good resource to figure out where your passport is and how long service is taking at that location.
  15. If your TA cannot suggest alternatives, time for you to get a new TA. Celebrity usually offers to move people to other cruises at the same price, too. Something doesn't sound right. When is this cruise supposed to sail?
  16. AFAIK there are no pull-out sofas on the Edge class ships. They're all trundles. One person would sleep on the trundle and the other would sleep on the sofa part. The room attendant will dress those both up so that everyone is comfortable. Here's a link from a S-class ship but it's the same concept.
  17. A tux is overdoing it these days, unless you want to look like the help. Dress codes have relaxed in a major way over the last several years. Dinner on a cruise ship does not rise to a formal occasion anymore, especially when other guests are invited to wear jeans to the same event.
  18. Agree that there is no need for a jacket, but as a tip, one way to travel with a jacket while doing carry-on is to wear it on the plane.
  19. Celebrity clearly has their officers serving as brand ambassadors. Captain Kate has taken it to another level with her use of social media, but the other captains also have a lot of personality and are out and about on the ships, too. If you want to go on a cruise where the captain and other officers are not overly visible, there are plenty of lines that do that.
  20. Next up: Pet Rock painting classes
  21. On the room review sticky, there is a review of a similar room under the lounge on Summit that complains about noise from above as well as crew carts wheeling things out to the deck through or near that hallway. I'd probably go with 8046 forward room because of the larger balcony. Also near the forward elevators/stairs. Should be quiet with rooms above and below.
  22. Celebrity is very close to HAL in experience so if you're ok with HAL, you'll be ok on Celebrity. The dress codes are identical, really (dress-up nights are called different things but the requirements are essentially the same except HAL says no jeans). Celebrity ships are a little more modern in design and decor. That's the main difference I've found outside of no indoor smoking on any Celebrity ship (versus some on some HAL ships). Other differences are down to personal preference, IMO, but overall there is a lot of overlap in customers as well as customer experiences.
  23. I'd DIY the land days and take the offer on the original cruise. Maybe see if they will upgrade the room at no cost. You might want to price that out before you make a decision one way or the other since it's only a month away. You could either try to recreate what they were offering or just tweak it to see what you want to see. Also agree that side of ship for room shouldn't matter much. Was there a reason why you wanted that? The nature is all around. Frankly, it tends to blend together after awhile.
  24. Here is someone's video walkthrough on Apex (they say).
  25. Cruise critic has some pro photos of Edge, which is a sister ship. Kids club should look similar. https://www.cruisecritic.com/photos/ships/celebrity-edge-1130/kids-club-420563/kids-club--v18656693/
