  1. The upgrade offer is for a class, but in our case last year we were also told which suite was available. We were offered an upgrade from concierge to Penthouse C at the bow of Splendor. We didn’t want the impaired view so we passed. She called back the next day with a Penthouse B offer of a specific suite and we took it. We liked that suite a lot.
  2. Sometime in the fairly recent past there was a thread that included discussion of one of the x00 penthouse suites. As I recall the poster liked the balcony and was not put off by the blocked view. My wife and I declined an upgrade to one of those suites because we like to sit out and watch the scenery. On those balconies one has to stand to see the ocean.
  3. What Kwaj Girl said. Also there is a door to the promenade deck just outside Pacific Rim.
  4. Aside from suites 700, 800 and 900, which appear to be unique, you can get an idea of balcony size by looking at the deck plan. The x00 suites have steel panels so most people need to stand if they want to enjoy the scenery. We were in a Penthouse with the narrow balcony last year. The balcony was just fine on our Baltic cruise although if we were in a warmer area we might have wanted more outdoor space.
  5. Actually I did run this by my wife. And what do you know, she doesn’t like having her chair pushed in and thinks having a napkin placed in her lap is invasive. I learn something new every day!
  6. Lots of good input here. I won’t repeat it but I will suggest that you avoid a cruise with Italy stops the weeks before and after Easter.
  7. We did the touring on our own. Before we started cruising we were always our own tour guides. We still tend to treat pre- and post-cruise days that way although as we near 70 we are rethinking that a little.
  8. When we did this we arrived in the morning, checked into our hotel, then went to Parc Guell and Sagrada Familia. We had time left over for strolling.
  9. We have an experience similar to what ARDXXX describes. We also had an experience last month where we saved $2,500 per person. It was a slightly different scenario as we had booked a Penthouse suite a few months ago and asked Regent to apply the promotion to that booking just before final payment.
  10. Usually a smaller bus, but not always. Last July on a Norway/Baltic cruise we took three small group excursions. We chose the small group Trollstiegen tour so we could be on a smaller bus on that very curvy road. We wound up on a big bus, but a small group. At lunch there were four full size buses each with around 12 passengers. In Helsinki we were in a small bus with every seat taken. We were lackadaisical about getting to the bus and had to rake the back seats which were elevated and had poor access to the windows. It was a fine tour and we enjoyed the small group but was a learning experience about seating. In Stockholm we had a greater sense of urgency getting to the bus got much better seats😇
  11. There was a film crew onboard last July, when Lorraine was CD. We’ve been on three Regent cruises so far and every time Lorraine was CD. We have four more cruises in the queue and I imagine at some point we’ll cruise with another cruise director.
  12. It’s actually based on both. Concierge and above come with multiple WiFi logins. Also SSS Gold status and above provides multiple WiFi logins.
  13. The showers in PH on Splendor are very nice. The shower is instead of a bathtub though, not in addition to one.
  14. The onboard booking comes with a price match guarantee. Usually Regent structures new specials so that all things considered the new price really isn’t lower. Sometimes it is though. We booked a cruise onboard last summer and then announced a free 2-class upgrade. I did the math and it looked like I might get a small price break if I took advantage of the price guarantee. I called my TA a day before final payment was due and she checked with Regent. Turns out my math was bad. My final payment went from $25k to $20k. I believe to get the price match it needs to be before final payment and the category needs to be available. Techno123 you might want to check with your TA if the British rules allow.
  15. Is the blow up an air bed? We’re planning a cruise on Explorer with a third person in a room. What are the options for the third bed?
  16. I think of RSSC and Regent as the same thing. What is the difference?
  17. I still remember my muster station on Explorer in 2019(Pacific Rim). A few days into our cruise last summer I had forgotten where our muster station was and had to look it up. Then I forgot again. I’m fine with going back to real muster drills.
  18. Congratulations on the insurance claim. I wish we had used your company. We keep getting emails telling us they can’t proceed because they need more information, but they don’t say what they want. When I call to ask, the agent says something like “huh that’s weird, I can’t see anything missing. I will escalate and get back to you in a couple of days”. After that radio silence until the next email about unspecified missing info. I’ve traveled this loop several times. It appears they don’t want to pay and are giving me the runaround until I give up.
  19. Did they recommend NOT taking Paxlovid? Did they say why?
  20. My travel insurance company is also resistant to paying for my Paxlovid from our cruise last year. Paxlovid ostensibly is only for people who have tested positive. I would love to have some in my luggage on our next cruise. Did you have to do anything special to get a prescription?
  21. Interesting, I looked for and didn’t find that on Splendor last year. I guess I didn’t look hard enough.
  22. There might be a special brunch on a non-Sunday, but I don’t think you want it to happen. On our Mediterranean cruise in 2019 we had a Wednesday sea day brunch. Before that we missed three or four ports due to bad weather(two of which became sea days) and were late into Rome due to a medical emergency. The brunch was very nice but missing Pompeii and Sicily much less so.
  23. In 2016 it was Grande Denali Lodge. The rooms are fine and the views are excellent.
