  1. They got lucky - one day their luck will run out.
  2. I don't think Carnival is the same as always, personally. The level of service used to be much better on Carnival, even though they've always been "The Fun Ships". But yes there are cruise lines for everyone. And even if you stay with Carnival, you'll have better luck finding quiet places to relax on say an 8-day cruise in May versus a 3-day weekend cruise in July.
  3. Exactly why people just need to get this information directly from Carnival's own website...it takes effort on their part but it really is best.
  4. Which is detailed on Carnival's FAQ page. No sense in us duplicating Carnival's effort.
  5. look under shore excursions for your cruise.
  6. Nowadays people fly and go to church in pajamas. Dress code ain't what it used to be across all of society. It is what it is. We don't wear powdered wigs and spats anymore either.
  7. Carnival has an extensive list of things you cannot bring onboard on their website. I suggest you read it. Things with heating elements (like a coffee maker) are not allowed.
  8. Didn't notice strawberry on my last Magic cruise. Only noticed vanilla / chocolate froyo and vanilla /chocolate soft serve. Granted I didn't visit every day so it's very possible they switched out flavors. Carnival used to have a different kind of vanilla soft serve that was very creamy, like Dairy Queen. No longer - it's all the icy stuff that's closer to a Chick-Fil-A icedream. Both are good but I prefer the Dairy Queen consistency stuff.
  9. Please read the page again - it only requires a passport valid for 6 months for two very specific instances.
  10. Good point - the label on the pouch can say 0.01% but it could be much more. No regulation. It's not up to Carnival to make that judgement call. It's federally illegal, they're banned for life. End of story. To those listening at home here is an instance where I applaud Carnival. 😉
  11. Close only counts in horsehoes and hand grenades.
  12. Overdue. Needs to be done more. They have to keep drugs off the ships. They are teetering very close to the tipping point.
  13. Yes, Disney has it all here. https://disneycruise.disney.go.com/faq/dining-food-beverages/dining-dress-codes/
  14. You are missing the point of the casino - to take your money and put it in their pocket. Any time a guest does something to make that one-way street go the other direction, there has to be something wrong.
  15. The Magic's library being off the side of the dining room is ripe for turning into a dedicated Chef's Table annex or something. When I saw them in there, yes it did seem to work. Which explains why they do it obviously. People don't tend to go looking for conflict. The crew certainly don't do anything to stop it either.
  16. I do believe however that the adults-only specialty restaurants do have enforced dress codes.
  17. I was so flabbergasted when on one of my cruises last year, a group of boomers brought laminated cards onboard that said "table reserved for ______ party" and put them on 4 or 5 tables in Lido so they could play Uno or whatever. This was premeditated - as I said they were laminated. There are no laminators on the ship. How inconsiderate can you be. If you want tables reserved for you, you're on the wrong cruise line.
  18. I saw the library used quite a lot for remote schooling on my last cruise. Also a quiet lounge for board or card games etc. Yes there are actually a lot of people who enjoy board games - and not just the old classics like Monopoly.
  19. I've seen those posts too and that is why I always make sure to point out that playing trying to get comps is foolish. You're playing against a secret rule book.
  20. Granted the offers are starting to dry up now. But people were and are getting free cruises in the casino even without playing in the casino for years. Getting free cruises without ever cruising Carnival in the past, by playing at their local Indian casino. Etc. etc. The Ocean Players Club can extend comps to anyone they want - they have no published schedule of comps. My advice to everyone is to play for entertainment, because the comps are not guaranteed.
  21. Interesting, I've never noticed the 18% fee on the receipts now says "service charge" instead of gratuity. I wonder when that change was made.
  22. I expected the same but Paradise just emerged from drydock with her library still intact...my guess is since the library is the only good Chef's Table venue on Fantasy class ships, it's safe - for however much longer those two remaining vessels are safe from the breakers, anyway.
  23. The problem is like I said, CCL's casino does not have a published schedule of comps so there's no guarantee of that.
  24. 100% accurate. But the question was about Carnival so I answered with Carnival in mind.
