Debarkation Carry Off Luggage - thoughts?
Bostwick girl replied to cellfree's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
We always check our 1 piece of luggage so just have a small carryon and mobility scooter. The only problem I have with people carrying their own luggage off is that they don’t wait for their area to be called, they just go. They clog up the elevators with huge bags and you can’t get an elevator if you have a mobility scooter. Being Diamond, we usually are supposed to meet in the little lounge by the exit at say 7:30. We start trying to get an elevator around 7 and it usually takes 15 to 30 minutes to get one that has any room in it! Usually time we do make it to our waiting area, they’ve already called Diamonds and they’re getting off. I forget what ship it was, but one time there was a designated elevator for mobility scooters which worked out great. You might still have to wait a bit, but you knew you were moving soon. Still amazes me at how much luggage some people carry off. Once we did a b2b and had to wait in the lobby for everyone to debark. It was crazy! People carrying 2 of those huge suitcases, along with smaller ones for a 4 day cruise! Was a total zoo! -
Refrigerator: yes, and leave the cabinet door cracked open to allow for better air circulation. Ice: we usually bring a small soft sided cooler (like a six pack cooler) and ask our steward to keep it full. Since it’s small enough, we put it in the fridge and it lasts longer. Depending on length of the cruise, we tip $10 to $20 extra although it’s not necessary. If you ask, they will bring you a small bucket of ice anyway. Tables, see answer above. Coffee: We drink coffee although not connoisseurs. The room service and lido deck coffee is fine for us although it’s sometimes strong and it’s free. No flavored creamers are provided. If you want Starbucks type coffees, they do have the coffee shop where you purchase the coffees, lattes and things like that and they have flavored creamers. If I wanted flavored creamers, I would bring some of the dry flavored creamer packs with me to use in the room or lido.

Carnival Magic Adults Question
Bostwick girl replied to cruisekitty22's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
The best way to not be around kids is to not sail during spring break, major Holidays and summer vacation. The Serenity Deck is for adults 21 (may be 18?) and older, children are not allowed and this is enforced. As to whether or not you will fit in, that’s up to you! -
The part that gets me is they encourage you to test 3 days before your cruise. I’m sorry, but if I did test, had no symptoms and tested positive, I’m sure not cancelling a cruise 3 days before sailing! I would wear a mask and take precautions, but I’m still going on my cruise!

Multi size tables, up to round table for 12. Lots of booths and tables for 4, 6 and 8. The Maitre’d makes table assignments. First you need to make sure you are linked on your booking to the other party, that way you will all be at the same table. Go check out your table sometime after boarding, say around 2 or 3.if you’re not happy with it, see if the Maitre’d or hostess is available to change it. They do their best to assign all in a group to the same table. You can link yourself or call Carnival to have it done. You will need everyone’s booking number.

What is your favorite Carnival Ship class?
Bostwick girl replied to CarnivalShips480's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
Spirit class is best for me because they’re so easy to navigate! Everything is on Deck 2, can leave the dining room and walk all the way forward without having to deal with elevators. Love all the little nooks to sit quietly and also the seating where you can people watch. The smaller size is so much better to me! -
Yes you can. I added my sons cruise to ours to manage. We are Diamond and he is gold. On the morning of their check in day, I checked them in and got the same arrival time as we did.

Our son and companions are on there with you! I had a message from him this morning about the announcement, so happy for the crew! He said they are having a wonderful time and the weather has been great so far. Y’all enjoy your cruise!

Funny you said about Jacksonville being an easy city to travel around. Lived there most of my life and DH is a native, and I can’t find my way around! We moved a bit south 20 years ago before the big growth, especially the north side where we lived. I hate going up there for anything!

Don’t think I’ve ever seen $1,000 cards on AARP, only $100 and $500. -
Someone help me out! Old style buffet plate/trays...
Bostwick girl replied to nicoleds's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
Awesome! We’re just about 10 minutes north actually, on the river. Got pretty high here, didn’t do much damage to our dock thank God! Hope you didn’t sustain any damage! -

As it is currently, I have to put silverware in my pocket, and get drinks in one trip, then go back for food. I can do two plates at once, that’s not a problem, just would like to have it all on one tray. And of course sometimes he wants buffet and I want a sandwich. I like the idea of using the room service tray, but would rather have my own. Thanks for the ideas tho. -

I for one really miss the trays! My DH has mobility issues so I generally get his food and mine. Without the trays I have to get whatever he wants then go back to the line and get mine. One of these days I’m going to find a tray that’s lightweight and fits well in my luggage! -
Generally if anything seasonal like that is done on one ship, they all do it.

Only problem I have with Elation is the balcony rooms don’t have sofas! I am just getting too old to sit on a bed to try to relax or watch tv! The one we were in didn’t even have a chair! Had to bring one in off the balcony so DH had a place to sit! Yeah, everybody says they don’t spend that much time in the room, etc, but after 40 cruises we like to rest in the cabin, watch a little tv and hit the hay! We’re only an hour away from Jacksonville so would love to go more often but not without a sofa!

Upgrade fairy news, notes, tips?
Bostwick girl replied to havanadaydreaming's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
If you’re like us and book balconies all the time, you probably won’t get any upgrades, etc. I don’t think I’d ever book something else on the hopes of being upgraded. -

Did you say you were on the Oct 11 cruise? I see you’re from Durham, our son will be on this cruise, and he lives in Roxboro! Hope you all have a great cruise! Sorry, saw you’re sailing in November, but didn’t know how to delete this post! -

We saw and chatted with Mr. Chow on our August 29th cruise, super nice guy and very funny! -
Yes the Spirit has light on the balcony. As others have said, please be considerate of others and don’t leave the light on all night! Even with the curtains closed light can come in. Very annoying!
