  1. Loving this review. As others have said, I was born and raised in NY and moved away many years ago. I miss going to Manhattan to see the shows. After this review, I told my husband I want to go spend some time in NY and see things I never got to see or haven't seen in years! (For me, it would be a Yankee game) 😁 Thank you for taking your precious vacation time to share!
  2. NY starts the day after Labor day. It's been that way for as long as I'm alive and that's a looooong time.
  3. First let me say so sorry for your loss. The way I read your post, you will not be going alone which is always a good thing when bringing in the New Year. This coming December will be our 6th NYE cruise, 5th with Carnival. As CarolSW said, it is a blast! They usually close down the casino 15 minutes before (and some other areas) to allow the staff to go up to the Lido deck for the countdown. Don't worry about getting champagne as there will be plenty! Usually you get your hats and noisemakers at dinner where you will find them at your table. They give out other stuff on deck. Since the first NYE cruise, we have gone every year and look forward to it each time. Most people do dress up and from my experience, it has always been elegant night. I have seen many tuxedoes and party dresses! This year should interesting since we are doing the Celebration ( the largest ship we will have been on) and will bring in the new year with 6000 of our closest friends🤣 Enjoy your cruise!
  4. It all depends on when you board. Your check in time is NOT your boarding time. You may not get a check in time until 12 or so, so 1 PM may not be realistic. Have a great cruise!
  5. You made me giggle.....Actually I'm a NY fan. i root for the Mets just not when they play the Yankees. 😊
  6. Looking forward to your review Greg. I have seen all those shows and out of the 3, Wicked was by far my favorite! (NY born and bred) As MJ stated, be very careful walking around the city. Try not to look like a tourist!! Have a fabulous time!!
  7. Where does it say this? I've seen only this: Carnival is pleased to announce new guidelines effective for cruises departing on September 6, 2022 or later
  8. My experience has been elegant night is the first sea day. Lobster is served only the first elegant night. As far as the second elegant night it's not always set in stone. It has been the 4th or 5th night in some cases. Have a great cruise!
  9. I had the same issue when i uploaded my test. I checked the wrong type of test on the app. (check how it's written on the actual results) When I corrected it, it was fine. Make sure if its an antigen, you checked antigen and so on....
  10. We went out of SF for our Alaskan Cruise back in May. I can tell you it was a cluster****. The ship docked late for some reason and the debarkation process took until after 11 AM. But that was not the biggest issue. We had to stand outside with our luggage because the porters were still bringing out the debarking passengers luggage. It was not easy especially for me since we had 3 bags and I use a walker. They would not accommodate anyone with mobility issues either. Once they began boarding, the porters started taking luggage from people that were just arriving in their cars/ubers in front of the entrance instead of taking the luggage from all the people that had been waiting online. Well since my name IS Karen, I became a Karen at that point and insisted that they take our luggage since we had been standing in line so long. They did finally have someone start organizing the groups based on their check in time and they DID check boarding passes. Now this could have been a one off since the ship docked late, but I have heard that SF is never smooth embarkation. Needless to say, we still had a wonderful cruise, but I doubt I would ever sail out of SF again. Have a great cruise!
  11. I don't agree with that statement based on the numbers that John Heald posts on his Facebook page when he puts up numbers of passengers i.e. Mardi Gras Total Guests 6009- blue card 1904, Red Card 1821, Gold card 1720, Platinum card 476 Diamond 88.
  12. You are correct..my bad. It's been a while since I got the play chips because all the recent cruises i have been on gave me cash.
  13. Both MDR's have the same menu. You are usually assigned based on where your cabin is located. I have no preference
  14. This-but i did it thru oceanplayers.com and received an email and saved it on my phone. However, I never had to show it because it was already on our S & S cards.
  15. What I find hilarious are these posts about a bacon shortage. If you can't live without bacon on a vacation, then you have a real problem. Also, there have been reports of fighting on Royal NOS. If you google it you will see it is not only Carnival. There are idiots on all cruise lines.
  16. This. My husband and I each have our own card and we get the same great offers.
  17. There will be 2 and it's usually the 1st sea day. As for the 2nd I'm not sure because it is not always the same. I'm sure someone else will chime in. Enjoy your cruise!
