  1. Hi Sue This must be a new thing,,they had it on our cruise prior to yours. People I spoke to thought it was a bit expensive at £25 each for a couple of canapés and cocktails,,,was there many in attendance?
  2. Hi We we’re on the cruise before yours, looks like you got some sun. The week before the weather was awful. Gijon and Santander were the reasons I booked the cruise (new ports for us) Gijón on a Sunday was shut and stayed onboard,,,Santander it rained all day and again stayed on board…A Caruna was a coffee and brandy on the front and Cherborgh was a visit inside the nuclear submarine,,,great experience. Because we came by Eavesway it was straight into the terminal and a great debark at 08:15. Was the comedian the Irish guy we had?,,,useless The Glasshouse was the worst visit in a dozen visits over the years but I thought MDR was better than usual,,the Epicurean food OK but a 2.5hr meal is to long for me,,,although the staff did say beforehand the could hurry it up if we wanted to be in and out.
  3. Hi I dined in The Glasshouse on Britannia last month,,disappointed as I have always enjoyed the venue,,,I had the Sicilian Stew and it was certainly no stew,,,,x3 small pieces of fish and a prawn on a plate with a bit of juice, expected a stew in a deep dish with assortment of sea food (that was the description). Asked for a glass of Gavi de Gavi,,,sorry sir it’s not on the Classic,,,really I have had it in the MDR for 5 nights,,,,asked for a beer instead,,,magically after I asked the question of the MD it was admitted Gavi de Gavi was on the Classic. Noticeably lots of food being left…maybe it’s just Britannia because on Azura an Ventura it’s always been a go to eatery, even last year on Britannia it was good.
  4. Hi Thanks for that, last month was the first time in Barcelona on a cruise ship since COVID,,,although we go regularly for breaks.
  5. I was in Barcelona last month, there is a lot of roadworks going on around the Columbus Monument,,the shuttle bus (T3) doesn’t stop by there any more. It now picks up/drops off in front of the WTC building. Still better than walking up and over the bridge to get to the bottom of La Ramblas.
  6. Not completely sure but I think ‘Rebel’ in a previous life on Celebrity was a group called ‘Tenors of Rock’. The guy in the kilt could be Celebrity CD Sue Dennings son.
  7. Hi Corkonians have always preferred Murphy’s over Guinness, probably down to loyalty as Murphy’s is brewed in Cork.as is Beamish stout.
  8. Hi I should have posted this two days ago. There is an old Liverpool boozer in the Cavern Quarter called the White Star. Its a pub choc a bloc with White Star/Cunard memorabilia.
  9. Great photos Megabear. For information for those wondering why one of the buildings is lit up in red…. Its the Cunard Building.
  10. Why waste 2 hrs walking into and back from a short stay in Barcelona. Just pay 7€ return for the port shuttles bus,,it drops you by the World Trade Centre 10 minutes from the bottom of the Ramblas.
  11. High up mid or mid aft for me. The worst balcony ever was low down up front where even with moderate swell meant the balcony got the spray from the bow wave.
  12. Hi Near to the information point area facing the Cathedral..dropped pin.
  13. Hi I have just booked the Epicurean restaurant on Britannia for two weeks time. I have sailed many P&O ships but never eaten in the Epicurean. Any tips or recommendations from you regulars. If I can’t make my mind up between fish and meat entrees will they let me try both?..they have no problem with doing that in specialities on Celebrity. Maybe ordering a steak and the Black Cod,,without the lobster.
  14. Industrial action on the railway is usually announced weeks before,,,wildcat strikes are not allowed in the UK,unlike say Italy. Gives you plenty of time to arrange other transport London to Southampton.
  15. Hi What I have noticed cruising both P&O and Celebrity is on Celebrity people seem to experiment with different drinks and often leave the ones they don’t like. Thats what happens with unlimited number of drinks. Never seen it with people on P&O package,,,
  16. Edit. It is now £6.45 for a Prosecco not £6.25.
  17. Hi Alex Thats what I find happens,,,,the allotted boarding time is shown on your checkin paperwork/online ,,,but as you say coach arrivals go straight through whatever the allotted time. You are earlier than us,,we leave Burtonwood Services at 07:45,,then a relaxing 5.5hr journey down,Rolling Sones albums loaded onto the iPad,earphones on and away we go.
  18. Hi My wife likes Prosecco,,,,2 before dinner,2 during dinner and 2 after dinner at £6.25 a glass that’s your days DP paid for. Not much is it with 125ml glasses. Me,,I drink like a fish my DP is paid for by 17:00 hrs. Each to their own I say,,,as my old dad used to say ‘If it suits the wearer beggar the starer’
  19. Hi You can purchase bottles from room service to drink in your room. If I don’t purchase DP (I usually do) I used to buy a bottle of Jameson’s for in the cabin,,,near enough same price as supermarket.
  20. Hi They must be working top down then,we are on deck 15 on Britannia and got 12:30 boarding,,,,no matter,,I’m coming on a coach. We are Atlantic tier going into the next tier during the cruise. So I don’t know what the criteria is for boarding times. Maybe Eavesway give P&O a list of names travelling on their coaches.
  21. Hi With the current 10% discount on Classic DP,a package for 14 nights is £1230 per cabin,,,less than £44pppd. Ive just this minute priced up a Ventura cruise for October.
  22. Hi Lots allow alcohol to be brought on board usually wine/champagne but not spirits. https://thepointsguy.com/guide/cruise-ship-bring-your-own-alcohol-rules/
  23. I have sailed many Celebrity cruises always with AI,,,but not now, apart from astronomical rises in cruise prices to the point where I see no value. Last spring I sailed X from Southampton and found they had taken Boddingtons Bitter off the menu and put Guinness into the Premium DP. Now if that isn’t a reason not to sail Celebrity again,,I don’t know what is.
