  1. Yes - if the ship is ready to leave at 4:30, it will. If not, then it will sail once everything is ready.
  2. Yes, Guest services will reprogram your key cards to the rooms you'd prefer. It's best if all 4 of you go, since they might need to ask permission of everyone involved in the switch.
  3. I didn't know Carnival even did those. I always just used the app.
  4. Fellow Canuck here - we've stayed at La Quinta near LAX before, and it was a good choice, with a free hotel shuttle from the airport. Breakfast was also included. A taxi to Long Beach or San Pedro will be in the area of $50-65 USD. I love Kelowna - been up there several times and have friends who live up there.
  5. The main purpose of the bookmark is you can set JourneyView to only show you bookmarked events, instead of every event.
  6. I forgot to mention - each person needs to watch the video on their own account. So any cabin mate you may have will need to watch the video themselves with their own login.
  7. You first need to connect to MedallionNet once you board the ship. Then you log into the app and go to Safety Essentials, and watch the video. You can also watch it on your cabin TV. I usually have lunch, and then go to my cabin once it's open to drop off my suitcase and check the cabin door to see where my Muster station is. I visit the muster station, then go enjoy sail away. Get Muster done early, so you don't need to worry about it.
  8. I'm following as well. We've booked the Venezia for a late January cruise, a 10 day one. Half the cruise is port days, the other half sea days. I'm really excited as I got an excellent deal on a Terrazza Cabana - always wanted to try a Cabana, but the prices had been a little much. Thanks for reviewing.
  9. I'll be on the Venezia myself, but not until late January. So looking forwards to this as a taster of what to expect.
  10. There are some good upsells, though. I had always wanted to try out a Havana Cabana, but was put off by how much more it cost compared to other cabins. However, for my upcoming Venezia cruise, I was offered an upgrade from a deck 7 aft balcony to a Terrazza Cabana for $180. I took it, because it was a few hundred cheaper than having booked a cabana to begin with. So, I'm excited!
  11. Here's my idea: Put the moderate drinker in the OV, along with the Heavy drinker, if you don't mind them not having Suite privileges. Then buy the Drink package for both people in the OV. The moderate can then get a key card to sleep in the OV. That way, they get the most out of the drink package, since everybody in the cabin must buy the drink package if one does.
  12. I was surprised too - thought it would be more. We're going to do a road trip down to Florida afterwards, and get a timeshare for a week before flying home.
  13. It make me chuckle as well. That email worked, though - I thought the upsell cost of $180 was worth it to get a Terrazza Cabana (the Carnival Venezia's version of a Havana cabana), an upgrade from the regular balcony I had on Deck 7. It will be great for my mom - the restaurants and so forth are all in the aft of the ship, minimizing the amount of walking she will need to do. She'll also enjoy sitting out on the patio. I've always wanted a Cabana, but they were always too pricey, so this upgrade has me really excited for this cruise.
  14. So did I - deck 7 balcony to a terrazza cabana for $180. I've always wanted to try one, but it was always too pricey before. Sailing from NY on a 10 day Caribbean in January; really excited now!
  15. This is why I don't mind the restricted wardrobe that comes with using a carry on suitcase. You always have it with you, so it doesn't get lost. The main reason is having to fly to port - I'd rather not pay for a checked bag if I can help it.
  16. I would second driving down the day before. It makes for a much more enjoyable drive when you can stop halfways through for a leisurely lunch, and then check in to your hotel early evening, and go for a nice dinner somewhere. As for packing - if you are driving, you can pack a large suitcase, and have enough clothes for 2 weeks. There will be plenty of space to store them.
  17. I figure that the reason is money. In order for you to have a coffee machine in your room, Carnival would have to buy the machine first, right? Not enough people are bothered by not having one in their room for Carnival to do anything about it.
  18. How? I don't see anything like that on the app, even though we're all listed as Green Lane. Does it show up 2 weeks before sailing, like on Carnival?
  19. Yes - the app can do things like look up the ship's schedule, or menus, or order a drink to your chair and so forth, but you don't need it to enjoy your cruise. Instead of a cruise card, you will receive a medallion that you use to open your cabin door, and purchase things with. If you haven't used the app to do the online check-in, it's not an issue, there just might be a little bit of delay during embarcation. Even without a phone, you will still have a great time, so don't stress about it - it will be alright!
  20. I second this!! Flying fingers (the violin trio) were amazing. After dinner, we would listen to their sets in the atrium while waiting for the theatre to open.
  21. Me either. Not elite - I am still ruby. My parents are platinum, so maybe that helped? I think the demand for this sailing is rather soft, so they are upgrading current pax, so they can discount the insides. Already, I had paid $1300 (CAD) for 3 people in an inside, where now it goes for $1100 for 3. To me it seems like they are being proactive, reducing the number of people calling in to refare. On a busier sailing, I don't think the upgrade would've happened.
  22. I had forgotten about the Victoria stop, but we've been there many times before, as I live near Vancouver. Might or might not get off the boat. I booked this cruise for the chance to explore one of Princess' newer ships, and I want to make the most of it. Yes, it was a free upgrade. Not an upsell, as the trip had been paid in full prior to the upgrade. Certainly a very nice birthday gift from Princess (mine's on the last night of the cruise). Also, the ship does continue on to Alaska, but I'm pretty sure nobody on this cruise will be doing that one. Booking both cruises wouldn't be allowed.
  23. The cruise is on the Discovery Princess, a 4 day no-port repo from LA up to Vancouver, whereupon it will continue onto Alaska. I had booked an inside, aft, on deck 14. I love my afts, because they are near the restaurants, pools, and such, especially since my mom has mobility issues. Received an email today congratulating me for my upgrade to M103, a deluxe balcony, obstructed. Special notes say 'balcony access only while in port'. Whomp, whomp..... You win some, you lose some. We at least will get the big picture window (the sliding glass doors), and a larger room. My parents will also love not having the top bunk deployed (I will sleep on the couch, which is what normally do on holidays)
  24. I was working at a UK grocery store many years ago. The local paper ran some 'Things to know about the Canadian provinces' articles. I showed the one about British Columbia to a coworker, and mentioned BC was my home province. She replied 'I thought you said you were from *Canada*', as if I had been misleading her all this time.
