  1. I just went on Google Play and checked - there was an update pending so I went ahead and did it - I don't notice anything different with it.
  2. No, it's not relevant. Let's just say I'm old & wise enough to steer clear of Carnival...
  3. Because this thread popped up on my Google feed. I don't have "status" with any particular cruise line, so I look for certain regions I might like to cruise at and then look at individual lines. I've researched several cruise lines, looked at pros and cons for each, compared prices, etc. It appears that Carnival appeals to a younger, rowdier crowd- drunken brawls, weed smoking, etc. are not my cup of tea. I'll leave it for the millennials and Gen-Xers....
  4. Sounds like Carnival attracts the stoner crowd, another reason to avoid it...
  5. Thanks @reedprincess, appreciate your input. If you don't mind me asking, where did you go eat after you boarded?
  6. Thank You @nbsjcruiser for this review, we're doing our very first Princess cruise in 11 days on CB, doing the exact same itinerary. I have a few comments/questions: 1. Did you use the OceanNow feature with the medallion? If so, how did that work out? 2. Good to hear about your experience in the Palm MDR, I happened to book the same one for the 5 nights we plan to eat there, doing the other 2 at Sabatini's and Crown Grill. 3. Did Palm offer breakfast or lunch? Or was the Coral MDR the only option outside of the buffet? I prefer to sit down and be waited on, but if the food isn't good in the MDR I guess I'll do the buffet. 4. Did you eat at any of the casual restaurants? What was your impressions of them and the International Cafe? 5. As far as embarkation day, were there a lot of people there when you showed up? I'm debating whether to show up early like you did, or later after the crowds did down. How soon was your cabin ready - we're you able to get in right away or did you have to wait? Where would you recommend for lunch that day?
  7. We fully understand that we still have to check in at the terminal and present our passports, we're in the Green Lane and have our medallions. Just couldn't figure out what the QR code was for and why it was showing Dec. 9th instead of December 10th when we actually board the ship.
  8. Thanks @XBGuy, that's correct. I was wondering if I needed to check-in online like we do for our flights?
  9. So tonight when I opened the app it shows a QR code, I assume that's like a boarding pass for a flight where they scan it and then you board? Also, we sail on December 10th but it shows a check-in window on December 9th from 10:30 AM to 2 PM? What's up with that?
  10. Thank you all for your inputs. Looking forward to both restaurants. Appears that calamari will be on my short list for sure (I love it)...
  11. Your reservations for dining should be OK, the data is likely stored on a server somewhere and is pulled when you log into the app. So even if you can't get it to pull up on the app it should still show when you're on the ship.
  12. If they will allow both to run side by side, I'd run them simultaneously and try them both. If not, stick with the devil you know.
  13. We understand that. But what @avonlady6390 is asking is whether you can run them side-by-side to verify the function properly. I would also like to know this as the wife & I will be cruising on the Caribbean Princess on December 10th.
  14. The design and technology that goes into these floating cities is fascinating, but after dealing with the zoo on Allure we plan to stick to the smaller ships, no need for all the gimmicks...
  15. Same here, and I'm in the US. Received mine yesterday 11/24 and we sail on the 10th of December.
  16. That's what it would be for me also, if I had to wear them to work all the time (i don't). My alarm clock would also be going under the sledge-hammer...
  17. Back in the day at my fraternity house we had a rule requiring a shirt at the dining room table, it was aimed directly at one of the members who liked to come to breakfast with just a pair of shorts on and nothing else. He was rather obese and we had decided we'd had enough of his man-boobs...
  18. The last time I wore a monkey suit was to my wedding in 1986, and will likely never again. I do own a suit and tie, but only use it for weddings and funerals. I won't even be buried in it, I'll have myself cremated and the ashes buried in a simple urn. Thank God I didn't go cruising until after all this nonsense went away.
  19. On December 10th we will sail on our very first Princess cruise and only our 3rd overall, the first two were on RCI. I go on CC to learn and do a little research, and I watch YT videos as well to see what to expect. I take it all in with a large grain of salt. Do I expect everything to be "perfect" during our voyage? Not hardly. I'm sure we will both have a great time, we won't be lamenting about how "things have changed" since the good 'Ole days because we won't have a historic baseline to compare to. We chose Princess because it ticks all the boxes for us - smaller ship (CB), fewer kids, older clientele, etc. We didn't know anything about the medallion, OceanNow and such but we're looking forward to using it. The idea of relaxing in a hot tub and having drinks brought to me is intriguing. We're going to relax and enjoy ourselves. If it's not what we expected it to be, well then there are other cruise lines to consider. One of nice things about not having "status" with any cruise line is that we're not beholden to them. We could try Virgin or Celebrity next time.
  20. No. You still need to fill out all the OceanReady requirements. I used the app to put in my travel documents, photo, payment method and so forth. When we get to the ship, we will simply swipe our medallions at the reader, show our passports, and walk aboard.
