  1. Yeah it’s always good to check before answering. My guess contacting Seattle will do nothing. People that answer the phones usually say the first thing that comes to mind too.
  2. Believe me if you could bring one I’d be the first person doing it. Clearly people would bring it for pain. They wouldn’t be using it to cook dinner or for giggles. At home I nuke those pads for my knees. Also have thermotex that are like a heating pad. I just end up doing without it on a cruise which sucks big time.
  3. I copied this from the Hal prohibited list: Hookah and Water Hookah Pipes, candles and incense, strike-anywhere matches, clothing irons, heating pads, hot plates, kettles, coffee makers, toasters and other electronic cooking appliances. Here is the link to that page in case anyone is doubting it. Frequently Asked Questions | Holland America Search for heating pad on that page.
  4. The issue is electricity, I'm fairly certain, or fire risk, not that they don't want you to relieve pain. I've found hot water bottles to be useless.
  5. They were prohibited before covid so I doubt anything has changed. Hopefully someone will be able to dig it up on the hal website.
  6. I’d love to see 10 or 11 day Mexico trips on the koningsdam not the zaandam. Leave the old ships for longer cruises. The koningsdam can’t transit the canal.
  7. I adore the way they make caesars (I know you didn't ask) but I find their margaritas leave a lot to be desired. They are too sweet for me and I don't want to be adding club soda to them.
  8. It shows like that sometimes when they are trying to figure out guarantees and how much room they still have. I’m sure you’ll be fine.
  9. Yes I know people try to talk me out of cancel for any reason. I want it for exactly that, any reason. I have health insurance through my employer. I’ve had a lot of trouble with my knees this last year and I don’t want to jump through pre-existing condition hoops. For several cruises Covid was raging and it was touch and go on whether I’d go or not. As Canadians we’ve had to just through way more hoops to travel then you folks earlier in the pandemic. So I want that ability to cancel for any old thing, not just the normal reasons. Cancel for any reason is a non negotiable for me.
  10. I’ve had that veal chop. I was in club orange and they said the special was veal. I was thinking veal cutlet so when I saw it I thought they brought the wrong thing. It did look like a tomahawk steak and you are right it’s too big for one person.
  11. In my opinion hal should have kept the koningsdam doing 7 and 10 day cruises and sent the zaandam to do the long cruise. I bet the koningsdam didn’t go out full for that particular cruise. Would love a 10 or 11 day cruise that’s not at the end of the month. I think the solstice is a good choice. I definitely considered it before how sucky their cancel for any reason insurance for Canadians.
  12. I had this issue too. The person had their music so loud the port worker kept looking up to his balcony. I did complain to guest services and they did turn it down. I don't know why people have to be so inconsiderate. Super annoying.
  13. Actually I just looked on a large online cruise seller. It has one 7 day on Mar 18, and a 10 day on March25 and 2 14 - day canal cruises.
  14. The koningsdam is doing a longer cruise right now that left mid Feb for maybe 35 days? Then it's going into dry dock I think. Hawaii after that. The zaandam is doing one March 7 day cruise. I think that is sold out. It is also doing Panama canal cruises. If you are looking at Hal I think you are out of luck.
  15. Glad I'm not the only one except for mine was on the nieuw statendam. I think the regular menu is better.
  16. You said it might not be worth the value on a smaller ship. I doubt if anyone buys a Neptune for the club orange on any ship.
  17. You don’t need to buy club orange for the Neptune suite. It’s included with the Neptune.
  18. It’s hard to think back to 2020 and what all the world cruisers and crew went through. It’s good to see the world cruise progressing again.
  19. Yet you expect the passenger to know better. Think about that one for a minute.
  20. Did hal not have access to weather reports? I find the weather reports on hal are pretty limited that passengers could see. I would think hal would be privy to great information because it could provide valuable information for them to get out of the port.
  21. Thanks for that information. I thought I'd remembered and issue with the azipod on this ship previously.
  22. That's my point too. People are quick to say it's not a problem when it's not them. That said I'm not sure hal has many open cabins lately.
  23. Thanks for the information. Maybe that’s the key, not having many club orange people. I hope more people report on this.
