  1. LA traffic is the worst! It's gridlock most of the day but later in the evening I'll be doing 75 mph on the 10 and I'll regularly be passed like I'm standing still. There is no speed enforcement at all on any major highway that I have ever seen. That being said I'm loving living here... There is so much to do all the time. You'll have to explain to me what a tiki bar is vs. a regular bar.
  2. Thank for not forgetting about me. I have posted the odd time lately but I have only glanced at CC in the last couple of weeks a few times. I have been unusually busy with a new project. I hope everyone is doing well. On a cruising note, for those who might be cruising out of LA, I have discovered an amazing restaurant in Ensenada. People often say Ensenada is a port to just stay on the ship and indeed that is what I did the last time in Ensenada. However, I have driven down to Ensenada a few times in the last month because of an opportunity to set up a new program and stumbled into one of the best steak houses I have ever eaten at in my life. It is truly amazing. The first thing you notice when you get there is every vehicle in the parking lot is a local vehicle. You can tell by the MX license plates. The next thing you notice is every vehicle is either a Mercedes or BMW or some such thing. It is only patronized by the wealthy. Ensenada, as is true of most of Mexico, has no middle class. There is just the extremely rich top few percent and then there is everyone else. That being said, by US standards the prices are quite reasonable for a first class steak house. So, instead of staying on the ship in Ensenada I highly recommend taking a ten minute cab ride and give Sano's Steak House a try. I have been a regular for the last few weeks and absolutely love it.
  3. Ah I forgot about that... Thanks for the reminder. 😉
  4. Just to update this slightly... My Canadian passport worked fine with facial recognition on my last few cruises.
  5. I consider everything published by the Atlantic to be satire at best. Most of it is just fiction or liberal fever dreams. It hasn't been a serious publication in years.
  6. Don't worry about it... We had the same thing happen to us on Adventure in February. We arrived at 10:35 and they checked us both in. We were onboard the ship by 10:55.
  7. I did this on our Harmony cruise back in December... So that we could maximize our Diamond balcony discount we listed my wife and I in separate cabin and my daughter and son in law each in one of our cabins. I bought the DBP for me and RP for my alleged cabin mate. I did this all by calling in. A better sale came along for the RP and I was able to cancel the RP online and repurchase it without problem. There was only 5 or 10 minutes or so where the two weren't purchased so if I had cancelled and never repurchased I don't know what would have happened. Probably they would have canceled the DBP but at least I was able to take advantage of the RP sale without having to call in. YMMV
  8. One way to get a bit of an earlier indication is to watch for new pending charges on your RoyalUp listed credit card. When you see a pending charge you know your bid has been accepted. It won't be a lot earlier but when waiting every little bit counts.
  9. My experience is similar... We use one bag of wash and fold every 7 days, usually day 5. Generally, it's underwear t-shirts, swim shorts and socks. I've never had an item come back with any damage at all. Knock on wood.
  10. I had one on Harmony back in December and I think I remember Hibachi being excluded. It'll be in the fine print of the certificate.
  11. I like staff taking care of it. It's cleaner and when there is a line it moves faster.
  12. My daughter and 2 grand daughters are gluten free and really enjoyed Giovanni's on Harmony.
  13. I was on Adventure last month and didn't notice anything (not saying you aren't). I wonder what changed?
  14. I have one in my hand within 90 seconds of getting on board 😉
  15. I think the ultimate version would be what they are doing this year. 12 day TA at the end of April on Anthem to Southampton, a 2day short cruise to Paris to get the ship on the right schedule and then the 7 day Norwegian fjord cruise to wrap it up. I'd spend a few days in London afterwards as well. I know that won't happen with the current redeployments and the change to cruising in Norway... We'll see how it all unfolds.
  16. I wish... 🙂 What the plan is is to do the EB TA and then make it a B2B and stay on for at least one more cruise. I'd do two more if it possible but I'm not sure if I can swing that. I've done a good number of Caribbean and have quite few more already on the books. The EB TA allows some new itineraries on the subsequent cruises that wouldn't be possible if came WB Also, timing is one of the reasons too. My 60th b-day is February and by the end of April I'd like to be sliding into semi-retirement.
  17. I'd love to do one but the plan for my first TA is April/May 2026. I'm eagerly awaiting their deployment next year. If I could have gotten an east bound TA that did the arctic that would have been amazing 🙂.
  18. No, it's not a benefit anymore... You get special times for the flowrider and Rockwall and the public ice skating but not to bypass the lines during regular times.
  19. It is not included or charged separately. If you want to tip you can do so with cash or if they give you a receipt (hit and miss with the receipts). I generally cough up $2. Others might do more or less.
  20. For the main theatre the reserved seating is mostly redundant. There is lots of great seating available for almost every show. The ice shows often fill up but the main there is usually anywhere from 2/3 to 1/3 empty.
