  1. E-visas are available for entry at seaports as well as airports . It's a good warning about river cruises though. The challenge for ports for ocean cruises is knowing if your port is a part of a larger seaport. They don't seem to publish lists of the component ports for each seaport. For example Phu My, the port used by Celebrity for Ho Chi Minh, is a component port of the Vung Tau Seaport.
  2. Has anyone had experience with a B2B cruise ending and starting in Hong Kong? I am trying to plan for my one day there and would like to know if it will be more similar to Port Everglades, where everyone must disembark the ship for a period of time, or more like European ports where it is just like any another port day and you can do as you wish. Thanks!
  3. We had the same on the Caribbean in August
  4. While I agree that it’s all too much food, the included meals at the casual dining venues are consistent with the other specialty restaurants I suppose. I’d never eat all the courses included at the Crown Grill but there is no option for sharing or a la carte ordering. It’s a straight over charge for a price fixe meal. What confuses the issue is that the casual dining venues also have a la carte options.
  5. Yes, I agree. However it’s also good to know your options for books acquired after the ship sails.
  6. I saw it on the Caribbean Princess and the Enchanted this summer.
  7. We use a shared library so there are lots of books available in my library that I may not have downloaded. If I buy a book on Amazon, have a pre-order become available, or a library hold show up, they might also be in my library but not downloaded if my Kindle wasn’t handy at the moment. I only connect my Kindle to wifi occasionally, maybe once a week to download, return or remove books. I never use it to purchase books.
  8. You are correct although I believe most people are referring to e-readers rather than tablets, when they say “Kindle”
  9. It's actually easier to get a Vietnam visa now than it used to be. As of August, all nationalities are eligible for e-visas and it is also possible to get multi-entry visas online rather than just single entry. It may be that you are entering Vietnam in a location where they can't process e-visas. The list of locations where you can enter and exit with an e-visa is here https://evisa.xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn/documents/20181/117155/List-of-evisa-port.pdf/c774e24b-1ab8-4fb6-9ac1-dcdfaccecf8e
  10. You can't sign in and connect to the ship's internet with a Kindle. The same thing happens with some hotel internet connections where you might be required to enter your name and room number to connect. Kindles just don't have that capability. You need to be in port in my experience. You can connect to cell service with a mobile device and use the device as a hot spot or try to connect to Wi-Fi with the Kindle. I've never found a way to connect my Kindle to the internet will at sea.
  11. They did not have facial recognition when we were there in September but the line moved fairly quickly when we walked off at about 8:30. I'd recommend a taxi. We'd hired a car service as we had a longer trip that to the airport and they were over half an hour late late due to traffic issues and absolutely horrible rain storms. The pick up area was bedlam.
  12. This information went out today to passengers on a November sailing that enters Vietnam in Phu My and exits at Halong Bay Dear Guest, We're looking forward to welcoming you onboard your upcoming Celebrity Cruises sailing! Before we set sail, we have important details to share regarding your travel documentation. PASSPORT As a reminder, your passport must be up-to-date and valid for at least 6 months after your sailing concludes. Additionally, all guests will need to bring printed copies of their passport's photo page for each port of call visited. We highly recommend also having a soft copy or picture of this page saved on your phone. Certain guests may be required to have two (2) blank pages on their passport for certain visas/visa waivers. VISA Vietnam Most guests are required to apply for and receive a Vietnam visa prior to arriving to the pier. • Visa-free • Certain nationalities are exempt or waived from the visa process. We have put together information to help you get started on securing your travel docs for Vietnam. We highly recommend staying up to date with your local embassy or consulate as travel requirements may change. ◦ some information to see if you can travel to Vietnam visa-free. • E-visa ◦ All countries and territories are eligible for e-visa. However, certain countries may take longer period to have their e-visa approved. (Please ensure to apply your e-visa 2 weeks prior to the sailing). ◦ Once you are ready, apply for your E-visa. • Important note: Visa on Arrival (VOA) will not be offered for this sailing. Guests must secure any necessary visas and have all required travel documents prior to boarding. Guests who require an E-visa or a physical visa must apply no later than 2 weeks prior to our sail date to ensure timely approval and delivery. Be sure that when you apply, you provide your name as it reflects on your travel documentation. Additionally, you'll need to provide the seaport for entry and exit. For our sailing, entry is Vung Tau Seaport and our seaport for exit it is Hon Gai Seaport. 13. Have you tried deleting and reinstalling the app? Do you have the same problem on your tablet?
  14. I’ve never used the web based version but just checked because I was curious and have the same problem trying to use the app from my pc. It’s not just you. What happens when you try to use the app on your phone or tablet?
  15. What always puzzles me about this is that someone who needs a mobility scooter could be either unaware or worse, just not care, that they are making it impossible for anyone else who uses a scooter or wheelchair to navigate the corridor.
  16. There isn’t a Vines on the Enchanted. 😞
  17. It’s not a different issue. On this cruise Elites were given a meeting place and taken in groups to the tenders. They were requiring everyone to be elite in one of the ports because it was so small that only one tender could go at a time. As I said, the staff may have been misinformed, but they did turn one twosome away at the Elite meeting location and made them go to the regular ticket line in the piazza
  18. Maybe the staff was misinformed, or didn’t understand the situation, but I did watch it happen. They sent them to go get tickets.
  19. Yes, whoever is handling the booking would have to apply them. Check with them on whether they want a list of the cards and PIN numbers or the downloaded cards. They can also tell you if they’d rather you send a lot at once or receive them as you buy them each month. Be sure to keep a record of the numbers and pins in case you end up getting money refunded to them in the case of a cancellation or other changes.
  20. That is interesting. I noticed it was packed every night on the Enchanted this summer. It was challenging to get a seat sometimes when we'd arrive after dinner, around 9 or 9:30.
  21. There is no limit on how many gift cards can be used. You can just apply them to your booking online
  22. It does have doors. They could make that the casino smoking section. I'll be sad to see Take 5 go though. It's an area we use a lot in the evening.
  23. It's an easy decision for most people. The cost of the Plus package is about $29 per day over the cost of just gratuities and internet. That's $24.50 in beverages with the 18% tip. The cheapest drink you can order is a Coke or bottled water at $3.00 and the most expensive is $15 toward a glass of wine. If you think that free room service, use of Ocean Now, casual dining meals, fitness classes, mailing of the Medallion, or desserts have any value, you can consider that as well.
  24. There are times when they allow it and times when they do not. We were recently on the Caribbean in Greenland and the allowed it in one port but not in another because that tenders were so busy in the tiny port where only one could dock at a time.
  25. Usually a formal or Dress to Impress night, but not always
