  1. We were there in the August. In Nanortalik, we walked around on our own. There were restrooms at the outdoor museum. In Qaqortoq, we took this iceberg tour by RIB boat, it was absolutely fantastic! The weather was cold and rainy, but since they give you survival suits to wear, we were warm and dry. We also planned to walk on our own in the afternoon but the weather was so bad that we went back to the ship. https://sagalands.com/tour-item/icebergsafari/ I've included my walking paths for both places in case you find it helpful!
  2. You are given the option to pay with a credit card if you prefer
  3. Prices are generally higher on board than pre-cruise. The 10% discount is returned as OBC once onboard.
  4. We split our cruise time between Princess and Celebrity and find them much more alike than different. I think the medallion device is great. Being able to wear it on a wristband when I swim or exercise is much more convenient than trying to keep a cruise card with me. The automatic unlocking of the cabin door is very convenient as well. My favorite uses for the app are finding other members of my travel party, ordering drinks to be delivered to me, and contacting guest services to ask questions or resolve any issues rather than standing in line. I appreciate that the International Cafe has savory food rather than just desserts like Cafe Al Baccio on Celebrity. We often use it for breakfast. Princess’ self-serve laundry is also very helpful on longer trips. The biggest negative is that Princess allows spoking in their casinos and the smoke sometimes spills out into the piazza area.
  5. Picking up the medallion is an extra step in the check in process. It would typically delay you by one to ten minutes in my experience.
  6. We did a back to back Singapore to Hong Kong and back with Celebrity earlier this year that had overnight stops each way in Halong Bay and Bangkok. We also made time for a three day trip to Cambodia to see Angkor Wat. It was absolutely fantastic. We originally booked one leg for 2021 and added a bit to the trip every year when the cruise was cancelled and shifted to the following year. It was a long trip but we really felt we had time to see a lot. One suggestion I can make is that we booked almost all of our shore tours with Travel Authentic Asia. They were fantastic to work with. They suggested a number of options for each port as well as being open to custom planning. https://www.travelauthenticasia.com/
  7. I know many have brought flowers onboard but as a caution, Princess mentions that US regulations prohibit doing so on this page. There is no mention of it only being policy in the US https://princess.eweddingcalendar.com/Wedding-Calendar-Terms-And-Conditions
  8. One dining room is only for walk- ins so no reservations would be available. Another would be for traditional dining where you would book for the entire cruise at one of the two available times. The Palm sounds like the MDR that accepts daily reservations
  9. The Care Team is assigned due to the situation, not the passenger’s age.
  10. You can usually see special events and which nights are scheduled as formal nights in the ship’s schedule under “Journey” in the app. Every evening will show either “casual” or “formal” portraits. I’ve seen it populate as much as a couple of months before a cruise or as late as right before sailing.
  11. You would have to check your specific policy to see if you are covered for the cost of a cruise paid in gift cards. My understanding is that most don’t cover that loss.
  12. I also remember those from earlier years. There were no white and gold or tropical nights on the 10 night itineraries this past spring though. They did have a Back to the 80’s deck party this year.
  13. We had French onion soup available every night on the Enchanted this spring and earlier this month
  14. If someone has never been to Paris and is unlikely to have another opportunity, it’s worth it. But, otherwise, yeah. It’s also possible to only have enough interest in a city to be satisfied with a three hour tour that lets you see the highlights. Whether it’s worth a three hour trip each way is another question. I’d be very reluctant to try to make my way to Paris on my own at a time when no tour operator is running shore excursions there. It’s a tight time frame on this itinerary I’d keep watching to see if anyone starts offering tours and look for one with a return to ship guarantee.
  15. It makes more sense for teens to have their own login than to share yours when they use the app.
  16. We definitely had one in our balcony cabin last time we sailed from Southampton. We’re on the other side, we asked the steward if he could remove it so it would be out of our way.
  17. You are correct, any four devices can be logged in at one time.
  18. My sons enjoyed formal nights when they were teenagers. We had a great time and made a lot of very happy memories. It also simplified packing since we could rent their tuxedos and have them waiting on board in their cabin. Today, at least for American men, it's unusual to be able to dress formally since rentals are no longer available and very few men own tuxedos.
  19. Yes, but the original poster specifically mentioned that they are looking forward to dressing formally so it does matter to them.
  20. Do you have a region or departure port in mind? That might help limit your options. My guess is the Caribbean would be your best option for nightlife and a shorter itinerary will attract fewer retirees. Another consideration might be looking for something with lots of sea days. As an example, the people on a 12 night in Southeast Asia tended to turn in pretty early as it was a very port intensive trip with almost everyone leaving the ship very early for full day sightseeing tours in very hot weather.
  21. Not seeing Ephesus would be a terrible shame. It is spectacular, especially the terrace houses! I can recommend this very affordable 4 hour tour https://www.ephesusshuttle.com/tours/mini-group-tour-1-option-with-terrace-houses?tur_id=22
  22. There are two formal nights on 10 day itineraries. If you look at the deck plan you’ll see that the public spaces are concentrated on decks 5, 6, and 7. The main pool and buffet are a bit further from deck 9, on deck 16. The fitness center and Retreat pool for adults only are on 17.
  23. I think that age demographics are more related to itinerary than a particular ship. Shorter Caribbean cruises for example attract younger people more than 14 day itineraries since since retirees have more freedom to take longer trips. Are you looking for a cruise that appeals to children and teens or are you all adults?
  24. Formal nights are never on the first or last night and are most often on sea days. You can see which nights are scheduled as formal nights in the ship’s schedule under “Journey” in the app. Every evening will show either “casual” or “formal” portraits. I’ve seen it populate as much as a couple of months before a cruise.
