  1. I think this sums it up for many of us thank you. A quieter line, mostly adults, with overall decent food and service. That's what I sometimes choose as my vacation if I want to relax. Why debate terms like premium which are pretty meaningless?
  2. Roll calls are definitely not what they used to be sadly. Very little participation. The exception might be the longer destination cruises.
  3. I hear they substituted the traditional orange life vests in the cabin for bullet proof life vests.
  4. Some people love to moan about this topic (or others) on this board. And then pile on. But that is what Cruise Critic is all about right? Some offer tips and experiences, good or bad. Some of the folks moaning about how it used to be on Celebrity just keep sailing Celebrity anyway. So it can't be all that bad. It is their money and their vacation choice.
  5. As others pointed out, Reader's Choice is a popularity contest and other criteria and rankings do not really come into play other than popularity.
  6. Are you saying they are used to some people flaunting the rules?😀
  7. But you can bring them to Luminae if you pay an extra fee. It used to be $30-20-10 for D-L-B. Clear it with the Maître D first. Still much less expensive than Specialty dining.
  8. Yeah agree with others here about the CC. Very little if any value for the extra money. We did it once and never again. But you will find differing opinions about Aqua. Some folks here love it and enjoy Blu.
  9. Hey @Twocoasts if you have not done so yet, definitely download the Celebrity app as @zitsky mentioned. It will be useful pre-cruise and during the cruise.
  10. Another difference vs Royal which might be important to you. The Celebrity ships are entirely smoke-free indoors. Including the casino. But there are designated smoking areas outside.
  11. You can have both for a big price on E-Class like sailing a PH suite which includes Specialty dining- probably less noisy than Luminae. My "suite" spot with Celebrity is a suite on S-Class.
  12. This happens at most ports and we are used to it. Locals trying to make a living too. No problem. We do not consider it harassment.
  13. The E-Class was designed with the Retreat area so it is the nicest according to most people here (including me). But-- I prefer Luminae on S- and M- Class ships. Luminae on E-Class is less intimate, and much more noise. All IMO.
  14. Mike we sail both Celebrity and Royal. In general Celebrity is quieter with a lot less kids, but you are sailing a holiday week so expects kids! You can go to the buffet (Oceanview) for lunch on boarding day. Maybe a bit better than the Windjammer. Or the pool area (Mast Grill) has burgers and hot dogs. Decks 4 and 5 have shops and activities, but nothing like the Royal Promenade. But on Deck 5 do not miss Cafe al Bacio for free deserts, cookies and specialty coffees(not free). The Sunset Bar is a nice area on Deck 10 aft. Everybody likes the Martini Bar on Deck 4 and it gets crowded before dinner. This ship still has the enclosed Sky Lounge forward on Deck 11 for great views and drinks.
  15. Well I was alive in 1960 but not in 1760 so hard to compare I think. And my mom dressed me in 1960.
  16. The OP @Mike_from_ATL was looking for general tips on Celebrity Summit and got a lot of responses about drinks. So maybe useful, maybe not. So Mike, what types of things do you want to know?? Celebrity Summit is most like Radiance-Class ships on Royal if that helps. What type of cabin are you in?
  17. I have my walkie-talkies stored in a box at home along with my wired land-line phone, fax machine, typewriter, cassette player, portable DVD player, iPOD, Walkman, and quite a number of other things. The box is getting larger. It has been re-labeled as a Time Capsule.😁
  18. Spif as I suggested before, IMO Premium is not really a cruise line category, at least nowadays. It is a marketing term for price setting. My categories would be Mass Market cruise lines, Small luxury lines, and maybe Niche lines. Of course River lines too. On a Mass Market line like Royal, Celebrity, MSC etc. there are Premium areas of the ship for an elevated price and experience. If you sail Celebrity because you want to be identified as a Premium line cruiser then it is in your own mind only.
  19. Bo glad you are back. I have been trying to hold the line against the insanity here all this time without you. Please help!
  20. Yes this is what I said and meant. Thank you.
  21. Well you would both need to drink a total of 12 non-alcohol beverages a day to just break even. Maybe just one of you could buy the package?
  22. Make friends with somebody in a suite and have them get you a couple. 😁
  23. We used to have a home in SE FL and at certain times and ocean conditions, the beaches were literally littered with dead Portuguese MOW jellyfish. Looked like purple balloons everywhere. Children get stung all the time picking up the dead ones. I have never seen one in the numerous visits to Labadee.
  24. IMO, if this were to happen, it would be an extensive dry dock maybe with other upgrades. That being said, the writing is on the wall that Royal will eventually shift to a full non-smoking policy like Celebrity. No need to design a new casino set up for the relatively few smokers these days.
  25. MD would possibly build a new CB Bridge then knock down the aging old one. Similar to what NY did with the old Tappan Zee Bridge. And if going to that extent hopefully they would raise the height for ship navigation purposes.
